A word from NoRTH - Scottsdale
We’ve turned a modern lens on traditional Italian cooking. North Italia is our love letter to Italy—a place that’ll make you feel like you’ve stepped off a charming side street to discover a culinary gem. After a decade in business, we’ve learned a thing or two and we’re approaching perfection in the art of handmade pasta and pizza. Every day, we start from scratch to create dishes like Strozzapreti with Bloomsdale spinach or supple ribbons of tagliatelle for our Bolognese. Our pizza is a revelation: an airy, barely chewy center embraced by a perfectly crisp crust. With the spirit of the Italian taverna, North is the place to talk shop over a cocktail or swap gossip sharing delectable chef creations. Every neighborhood would be lucky to have a place like North.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "I always enjoy dining at North in Kierland. I prefer outside as it could get too loud inside. The bruschetta is a great way to start your North experience. The bread with olive oil is a favorite of mine too.The Pasta dishes are very good as well as many others. I also enjoy the Kale salad if I chose to eat light I love the tuscan Kale salad with salmon on top.The salted caramel bread pudding is delish!! Always a nice dining expeirence."

  • "I would consider North to be a place for the glam to be casual. The food is good with a reasonable variety, portions are right and food to cater for the health conscious & for the downright hungry. By the looks of the crowd for lunch, you would say mid to upper upscale, and as everyone knows Scottsdale is the place to be seen."

  • "It is a very good restaurant in a convenient spot in the mall. It was very, very loud inside so recommend outdoor eathing."

  • "We are fans of The Greenhouse next door and have tried many times to eat at North. We planned ahead and got a reservation, but had a less than desirable table and the food was mediocre. I do not think I will try to come back."

  • "Restaurant touts fresh ingredients and their menu exhibited that. Their salads are big enough to share. The kale and beet salads were excellent choices. The kids enjoyed the tortelloni and spaghetti and meatballs. Fresh, healthy, yummy."

  • "There were 5 of us out for dinner at North. Exceptional food and service. We are still talking about how delicious everything was. We look forward to returning."

  • "Food was very fresh and delicious!! I had the tortellini which was cooked perfectly and my boyfriend had the rosemary chicken which was very moist and flavorful. We shared a pizza as an app and that was quite tasty. I enjoyed everything and so did my boyfriend which isn't an easy task to accomplish."

  • "Found last minute on trip w/fam - had great pasta, pizzas and found good bottle of vino on menu. Only thing I thought was strange was we brought a good bottle and the waiter was puzzled - they did not do corkage. Good overall."

  • "We love taking out of town guests here b/c of the view from the Bar North part of the restaurant. It's situated right in the middle where all the palm trees are lit up & the whole Bar North part is all glass. Even if you're inside, you feel like you're dining under the stars! Great food too! I always get the Grilled Branzino & my husband gets the "Pig" (pizza)."

  • "In Phoenix on vacation and had a fun lively dinner at North. Was a Sunday and happy hour was all day. Had a bargain red wine which was $4.00 to start the night. Our server was delightful and informative about the items on the menu. Had terrific mussels and Caesar salad to start and then scallops and salmon. All were prepared perfectly and came out in a timely manner. Nice dining experience!"

  • "I found the food to be excellent, I had the Spagetti which had a great flavor. I found it to be a little loud but could still carry on a conversation. Our table also had the Chicken (rosemary) which was real good. The service was very pleasant and attentive and prices reasonable."

  • "Great food, excellent service, but be careful with pasta. My Celiac husband ordered gluten free pasta but got regular. The waiter was so apologetic, but it was very scary. I don't think we 'll go back."

  • "Been to North Phoenix a few times and loved it, but North Scottsdale was a slightly different. Great atmosphere - patio dining in Scottsdale with 80 degree temperature Good food - tasty, delicious and arrived quick and warm; presentation was nice and would eat here again Slow service - open seating when we arrived; uncertain if it's always open seating but it was a bit chaotic trying to find suitable place to sit. Once we did, it took server 15 minutes to clear our table from previous customer and another 10 minutes for our drink/food order. I would eat here again because the food was really tasty and atmosphere was nice and relaxing. Now that I know what to expect from service, I will be better prepared."

  • "We tried North for the first time last year and now go whenever we are in the area. The food is fantastic - liked the Spicy Shrimp Pasta. Oh - you don't like Shrimp? Chicken was offered without hesitation. The menu has a great selection - the salads were fresh and delicious. It was busy on Saturday (reservations recommended) and our was very attentive even with all the guests. Jaimie stopped by at just the right times to check on drinks and to ensure our orders were fulfilled satisfactorily. The manager also checked on us... and the staff were organized to bring out our food order when it was ready - the pasta was piping hot! A great experience overall - we'll look forward to going again!"

  • "Keep tweaking the happy hour menu, and removing items...I guess that's okay since it is high season, and less on the happy hour menu means more dinner dollars. Okay, the board and bottle, or pizza and bottle for 20 bucks are a bargain in high price Scottsdale. Olives...please provide a fork, or some tool with which to retrieve the olives out of the oil...finger picking good? No! Especially, when sharing. Wine glasses were badly spotted this evening....yes, we have hard water in the desert, but when I have company I polish my glasses and so should a restaurant. Most often here we have had problems with the final bill tabulation, and this is annoying. Other than that, all the food tasted good."

  • "North has so many interesting items on their menu and the prices are reasonable. The food is delicious and the wine list is really nice too. Highly recommend for hanging out on a Saturday afternoon."

  • "We are never disappointed. Good food and good service."

  • "The food at North is appealing (great calamari, strozzapretti, scallops). But the noise level does not allow one to have any kind of coherent conversation, and the tables are too close together. Good wine list of wines by the glass. We missed the ahi tuna they used to have - it was outstanding. Put in some acoustic tiles on portions of the ceiling or do something to make the atmosphere more conducive to conversation."

  • "I go to North when in Scottsdale for decent Italian food at decent prices. It comes with a crowded and noisy establishment. Service was timely; food was very good. My partner had a Caesar salad with chicken; I had papardelle with Bolognese sauce. We were both happy with our dinner. Consistent performer."

  • "This was our second trip to Scottsdale, and have been to North both visits. We love sitting on the patio. The wine list is pretty good, we had a great Chianti that our server recommended. Try the Gnocchi, very different presentation. Delicious!"

  • "My first time there. It was for a business meeting. Two of the three of us enjoyed our meal, but the third, who has some health related dietary issues, did not care for her meal, again related to the health issues. So, I would give it a try again, but not with the one who had the problems. Service was quite good and it was appropriate for a small business meeting."

  • "I had the short rib with polenta which we had tried a "devour Phoenix", it was tender, succulent and paired perfectly with the creamy polenta...YUM!!!!! My pal had the speghetti with extra meatballs and was barely able to speak, delicious. So much so, he ordered one to go!! Save room for desert, we had the Salted Caramel Budino with salted caramel malfaldine sea salt with creme fresh that I can't stop thinking about! I was celebrating the 2 anniversary of my food blog 'Sewwhatscookingwithjoan' our sweet server, Betsy put two candles on it, it was amazing. I will be figuring out this recipe and blogging! Too good!!"

  • "We have dined close by in the past, but now that we have actually been to NoRTH we will be back for sure. We decided to share the Mussels, Caesar salad and Spaghetti Bolognese and all were fantastic. Great service, great food, wonderful outdoor table - perfect. We would highly recommend this restaurant to everybody."

  • "I liked this restaurant a lot. The food was delicious. (We had a muscles as an appetizer. I don't normaly eat them. They were fabulous!) The noise level was REALLY high. We were trying to conduct a business dinner. It really didn't work. If I come back again, I will request outdoor seating, as I believe it would have been much quieter. Our waiter was also extremely good. He recommended dishes and you could tell his recommendations were from his own experiences eating the food. Lastly, I liked the ability to get get wine by the glass. There was an ample selection and you could order either 6 oz or 8 oz pours."

  • "Lively atmosphere with great brick and glass decor that unfortunately does nothing to damp noise especially when the windows are closed. Don't go during busy times if you want to talk with your dining companions. Inside tables are spaced too closely which adds to the noise and crowded feel. Salads and pasta dishes are exceptionally good with homemade pasta and sauces that compliment but don't overpower. Golden beet salad was very fresh with well balanced favors. Service is prompt and efficient without being overbearing."

  • "Our party was entirely pleased with the food: chicken pesto, strozzapreti and pizza - The Pig (that was our son's choice naturally!). For those of you with a sweet tooth, I highly recommend the salted caramel budino. Wow!"

  • "We eat at NoRTH often and are never disappointed. The servers often let me taste a wine before I decide whether to have it or not and they are all knowledgable about the wine list, which makes a big difference to me. Food is always delicious, particularly the scallops with risotto, which are fabulous. it's a fun atmosphere with a great patio for people watching."

  • "If you would like to go deaf while dining, this is the spot. Conversation is impossible. One of the most unpleasant dining experiences in Scottsdale. There is no parking, unless you use a valet and pay $6. The food is quite good, but there are many restaurants with good food. The Bar North is much quieter and more pleasant, although I don't think the menu is as large. It is pleasant outside and if you have to eat there, wait for an outdoor table at Bar North next door."
