My date and I ordered the bruchetta for an appetizer with prosciutto and asparagus. Very tasty! My date ordered the swordfish, which was the special. The swordfish was so good I wish I'd ordered it!
Now the negatives: my date and I sat at our table for nearly 10 minutes before even being served water. And then halfway through the meal, our server changed. Whoever our official server was hardly paid us any attention and I had to flag someone down to get a refill on water. I've been to NoRTH before and can't recall service being this poor (the restaurant wasn't even that busy), but maybe it was just a fluke. We decided to dine outside as it was a little noisy inside and the weather was perfect. No kids menu but our server simply asked what she could bring for our son and took his food order as we ordered our drinks. She knows kids and knows what families need - big check mark for her! His spaghetti came in a kid's portion and one meatball on the side - perfect!
Our meals were both excellent. My wife opting for the Spicy Shrimp pasta while I went simple with Spaghetti meatballs. Neither meal was simple as the flavors burst off our plates and into our mouths. Homemade pasta, homemade sauces with everything perfectly cooked. It was perfect for us, but lacked ambiance. The people watching was good, the service was outstanding, the food was very good and the prices were reasonable. We were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and our waiter brought us 3 complimentary delectable desserts. Yummy! Cons: The bartender mistakenly made a Manhattan for my husband with Maker's Mark, although my husband specifically said the house bourbon (Jim Beam) was acceptable. Like all of the restaurants in the Fox Restaurant Group, NoRTH was so noisy that my husband and I could barely understand our waiter. The only reason we chose the restaurant was because my boss had given us a gift certificate for the place. Not so dark that it was difficult to read the menu, but no glare at all. I was asking about cocktails and our waiter suggested one that was not on the menu and it was wonderful, summery - I think is was called The Botanical. It had cucumber and gin and lime.
