  • "Read many positive reviews we planned our 2014 Easter brunch a three course meal. Meals were good but certainly not worth a 500 bill for three. Wanted a special place for my sons last college year in Chicago and it fell short. We have eaten at L2O, Blackbird, Girl and the Goat, Perennial Vibrant and many more all worth the money spent!! This brunch was ok worth more like a 150-200 meal. Not sure how they received the James Beards award???"

  • "Why would a place with this level of attention to providing a brunch experience worth more than its price be so quiet & the room not filled? This, the dichotomy that is Chicago...at least to a New Yorker like me where a place this terrific would have standing room only & one hour wait. Do you like to keep well kept secrets to yourselves out in Chicago? From the gratis lovely celebratory drink to the last dessert we enjoyed every bite of our brunch; joy at having been so lucky to find it.. Every dish and every element inside each dish was tasty and expertly prepared- both fish dishes ordered were hot, crispy where they should have been. and the accompaniments complimented, highlighting each bite. (I am a chef so these details are important)"

  • "Loved eating here. We went to celebrate a birthday. Food was amazing and cooked perfect. We had beef and fish and two salads. Wine was also very good. The restaurant printed on the menu happy birthday and even wrote happy birthday in chocolate on the desert plate. Really nice touches. The meal was very well paced never felt rushed but did not feel like we were waiting on the next course."

  • "This restaurant is really a treasure. The food is amazing, which everyone knows now that it has won a Michelin star. The seasonal menu constantly changes but the quality is consistently outstanding. The best thing about it though is that there is no hint of pretension. The wait staff is friendly and welcoming and do everything in their power to ensure a memorable dining experience. This restaurant is perfect to bring out of towers to. The view is amazing and the restaurant itself is lovely. It is also great for a business dinner since the noise level is low enough to allow a conversation. North Pond has been around for a long time because it does so much right. I highly recommend you give it a try."

I can never complain about anything. Every time I've been here, the food or service has never disappointed me. Brunch is a bargain, you must give it a shot. It may be your go-to brunch place."

  • "Great night out close to home! This was the best place to go to celebrate a new job and have a romantic date night. Everything on the chef's tasting menu was amazing. Loved trying the different inventive cocktails. Best service. Even put congratulations on the menu and brought out a special dessert. Beautiful view. Would come back for dinner or just to sit at the bar."

  • "Haven't been to North Pond in years. It was a birthday celebration. Very kind to print a Happy Birthday on the menu and give a copy to my friend. The food was outstanding. The only thing I was not happy about was substitutions. I am not a fan of cabbage, and the server said it was their policy not to swap or change the sides. Otherwise a lovely evening."

I took my best friend there for her birthday, and the entire experience was so pleasing that I'm certain to be back again soon.   • "Despite a very lovely setting, the food was not equal to the surroundings. Very long waits between courses. The food is overly ambitious resulting in over sauced dishes. The main character in entrees was small and overpowered by everything else on the plate. The service, solicitous at first, dropped to non existent after the first course was served. Had to ask a bus boy to find her to order dessert. This was our first experience. Probably our last."

  • "This was truly a find. Set in the middle of a park next to a pond gave the ambience that added boost. The presentation of the food was perfect. Service was impeccable. I loved how when a dish was brought to you they explained what it was that you were about to eat. The chef really takes pride in what he makes and it showed through the presentations and flavors. The prices are a little high, but not unaffordable. I really recommend this place."

Our server (Jennifer) was dismissive and rude - when asked what was her name - she said that they (waitstaff at North Pond) didn't give their names because dining at North Pond was not a TGIFriday experience. This comment set the tone for the evening. We demanded another waiter. We were given Nickolas - who was fabulous. But the experience has soured me from returning ever...their loss, as I am a foodie, who tips well."

  • "The menu sounds a bit boring farm-sourced food, and I was worried it might either be too conservative or too precious with fennel pollen and vegetables five ways. But it turned out to be exactly the sort of food I like to eat with a fantastic balance of acid, creamy elements, bright greens, and texture. They like to mix up their deliveries so every bite is different and surprising depending on what you accidentally scoop up with your fork. Really pretty place, thoughtful food."

  • "If you want a great dinning experience with a wonderful view and a great setting this is the place for you. The location is tucked away among the ponds around Lincoln Park. The building is an old warming house from the early 1900's and it has a great ambiance with a prairie style design. You can either walk to the location or drop off your car however you must walk to the park to physically get to the restaurant. Makes for a very romantic little get away in the city. After or before dinner I suggest a walk to enjoy the setting as it almost feels like you are out in the country. The food is excellent, great cocktails, and a wonderful staff. I have dined at many great restaurants and this locations is on par with the top places."

Our server was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. As was the rest of the staff. Have not been here for too many Yeats but will not make that mistake again."

Everything from the actual structure of the building to the food was impeccable. They pay attention to detail and have nice added touches like putting your special occasion on your menu header. They put it in an envelope to take home which is a nice touch. I won't wait long to return and look forward to a Spring dinner there soon."

  • "Was going for a nice client dinner - we arrived first to an empty restaurant and got attitude for wanting to sit down at table and not get a drink at bar even though my wife is pregnant.....then they showed us to literally the worst table in the restaurant which we declined and then the second worst - we asked for a table in the room with a fireplace and they said no - set the evening off on a bad note. Felt like second class citizens. Does this happen a lot with open table reservations? A shame because food was very good."

  • "I went with my boyfriend for his birthday. North Pond had special menus printed for him with his name and the words "happy birthday." They gave him the menu along with information about the origin of the restaurant to take home at the end of our meal. The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. Our hands down favorite dish was the pan seared foie gras. I would go back for that dish alone! All of the dishes we ordered were amazing. I'd like to go back in the spring or summer when the pond isn't frozen :)."

  • "This restaurant would have been a good choice in warmer months. But, since we went in March, the atmosphere was lacking and I simply couldn't warm up....kind of ironic for it once being the warming house! Dress accordingly. The food was ok, but overpriced for the quality and the service was random. It took about ten minutes for them to take our drinks order and then another 10-15 to get the drinks. Our main dish came extremely fast....so fast after the first course that by the time my son came back from the bathroom, the rest of us were almost finished with our meal. We went for a special occasion. I don't think I'll be going back any time soon."

  • "My boyfriend took me here for our anniversary. It was so wonderful! The service was great. The waiter was very helpful and nice, without hovering over us. The ambiance was romantic and intimate. The food was so wonderful! I liked how the menu only had 5-7 options per course, it was a variety of options without being overwhelming. The food was very fresh and of high quality. Each course was so wonderful! The restaurant called my boyfriend and asked for my name and if it was a special occasion. On the menu they listed our names and said happy anniversary, which they gave us to take home. They also brought out a plate after desert that said happy anniversary in chocolate. They made the night feel very special!"
