Looks Like Luce Stumbled. Doing an east end B&B weekend in E Marion, we opted for The North Fork Oyster Co, in Greenport, for dinner. Heard about the new chef and menu and were looking forward to a great seafood meal. Didn’t happen. Our server, though very nice, was totally frazzled. Never bothered to recite the specials or even bring bread to the table. (we only found out that there were specials, when we heard another waitress telling them to a nearby table, after our meal). The good: fortunately there was some good, was the Sea Food Plateau for $44. Chilled Oysters, Clams, Shrimp Salad, Crab Meat Cocktail and ½ Lobster, was very good. Fresh, clean and highly recommended. The bad: Fish & Chips with Rosemary Fries. Nicely p

Service was horrible. We had party of 11. That was seated outside and it's if they forgot about us. You should also know that the resturant was not even full. So there are no excuses. We saw our waitress twice in the evening to take are order and pass the check. You she never even came to check if we need anything. Sad!

We had an unexpectedly delightful New Year's Eve dinner at the North Fork Oyster Company. The quality of the food for the price was excellent. It was a little crowded but cozy. The bar looks nice. The service was good and the proprietor was very attentive and charming. All in all it was a good dining experience worth a repeat visit.

I have visited NFOC once for lunch and twice for dinner and I guaranty I will be back. I brought a bunch of Manhattan food snobs, ahem, I mean foodies (myself included) here for dinner back in October. Everyone raved - not one complaint or disappointment. Even with a few that don't eat seafood, everyone was happy. This past weekend we were a little bummed to see only one variety of oyster available...but then we tasted them. So delicious!! Flash fried oysters are also amazing whether on the po boy or alone. Super friendly service, beautiful cozy fireplace, amazing chef and you can't beat the fresh local seafood.

The ambiance was good not great. Nobody seemed to know what their role was and there was confusion about what the menu consisted of. There were no other people in the restaurant for some time so the cook came to the bar to be accomodative with the menu selection which was thin. Wines at $14 a glass were less than 4oz. $30 for a dozen oysters...Really???

The North Fork Oyster Company provides an exceptional dining experience. The wine selection is excellent and varied. The food was delicious; service was gracious yet friendly and ambiance was lovely. The fire added an extra special touch. My Mother-in-law can not eat dairy and the kitchen was happy to accommodate special requests without any hesitation. Also, we had the pleasure of meeting their new Chef, Chef Al. He kindly introduced himself and made us feel right at home. We were quick to tell him everything was superb. Thank you Chef Al and the North Fork Oyster Company everything was perfect!

Food was delicious! We all enjoyed our meals very much and our dessert was outstanding. Our hats off to the Chef! Our waitress was amazing; she picked up on a small piece of our conversation regarding this being a special meal in celebration for my husband’s birthday. To our surprise she brought us the most delicious apple cake we have ever had. My husband and I were so impressed with everything!! We love the North Fork Oyster Company and we will be back very soon!

The North Fork Oyster Company never fails! Beautiful restaurant, excellent food and service. The servers were attentive, but not overbearing. The restaurant was busy, but the servers appeared calm and not rushed. Even though there were only two waitresses on, and luckily for us we had the privilege of meeting both of them. Great staff! We had a dinner party of 4 during restaurant week, and enjoyed all three courses. We will all be back very soon!

Add North Fork Oyster Company to the growing list of restaurants who participate in Restaurant Week "on the cheap". Better restaurants take this opportunity to showcase their kitchen, and the total dining experience. Others, like North Fork Oyster Company, serve a "half" meal without much effort at attracting new customers. Appetizer OK, and the meat'fish portion of the entree OK. But NO vegetable on the plate? This is cheap and low class.

We felt very welcomed. The ambience was good and the service was very helpful. Our party of eight enjoyed the Fisherman's Stew with its ample amount of clams, mussels and shrimp. The flash fried calamari was excellent. The fluke was good and the lobster roll was overflowing. Although the wine list contained very good wines from local wineries, they were a bit overpriced. This we knew as we had spent the better part of the day exploring the Long Island wine trail and were quite aware of the prices of these wines at the local wineries.

This is one of the best spots in town. We were seated in the covered patio away from the street in a garden setting and had the most delicious dinner during our weekend stay in Greenport. We started with the freshest local oysters and a stellar salad prepared from farm stand ingredients topped with nuts & sweet caramelized onions. For the main dish my husband had the local striped bass with some delicious tasty accompaniments which he thoroughly enjoyed & I had the local almond crusted fluke, yummy! The staff was very friendly & our server helped us pair wine with our food. Can't wait for our next visit to have the same!

We visited North Fork Oyster Company on a crisp fall Friday evening before the weekend crowds arrived. So, of course we ate inside; but the outside dining is always fun. The food was very good and cooked to perfection. We started with a dozen local oysters to share, four each from Southold, Montauk and Port Jeff. The special sauce for the oysters is very good. I had the mussels and swordfish and both were superb. My husband had the bean soup in addition to the swordfish. Service was great and our waitress was sweet and accommodating.

This is not our first time @ the North Fork Oyster but glad to be back. The atmosphere is fun and energetic yet still an elegant experience and staff very friendly & eager to please. The menu has a variety of choices to fit all tastes and everything we had was local & very fresh. We had apps of a delicious sweet potato bisque & a simple salad both were fantastic. Entrees of herb marinated local swordfish with crispy chicory salad & tasty capers and lemon dressing, and crescent duck breast with the best polenta cake I've had for a long time with cabbage & apple salad was equally delicious and satisfying. Would definitely recommend a trip to this hidden gem.

This is like forth time to the oyster company and it's always great! Service out standing and food was great, but I do have one complaint. My husband and I got the lobster bisque. It was so good but all we wanted was some nice bread to dip into my soup. All they had was this wierd cinnamon raisin bread. Get some normal bread! Everything is so delicious but that bread isn't good expecially with dinner.

So disappointing. This was our third visit to North Fork Oyster Company. I made our reservation on open table for a party of four. When we arrived we were seated to a table of 6, no big deal. We spotted a table for 4 to our hostess but had to maneuver our way through the restaurant to get there (asking people to move their seats in, etc.) All of our entrees were bland, sitting atop a cold side dish. Cheap way to run a kitchen. Pineapple salsa had no pineapple. Cole slaw was hard and roughly chopped. The noise level was loud (not energetic), baby crying to boot and this was at 9 p.m. on a Saturday night. We did not stay for dessert. Sorry to say, we cannot recommend this restaurant.

Loved the oysters, but found the menu to be fairly boring. Too many fried options & not very creative. We were hoping for more of a farm to table fresh quality. Instead, it seemed like more upscale bar food. We came for dinner, but ended up only having oysters and champagne.
