North End GrillGreat place near the water. This is a great spot after a visit to the World Trade Center Memorial. Within walking distance. Food is wonderful. Call ahead for reservations. They fill up fast.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Accommodating Staff! We arrived a bit late but they bent over backwards to get us a table for Mother's Day and were attentive throughout the meal. Food was good. my soft shell crabs were excellent but the egg dishes didn't garner as much approval fron the other guests. I've always had excellent meals there, perhaps it was the volume of crowds that made not give it 5 stars this time. Enjoyable it was though, and I'm definitely going back to this little gem.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMNice Mother's Day brunchMade a reservation here for Mothers Day, knowing they'd be slammed like most restaurants on the day and expecting a good-but-not-great experience as a result. Pleasantly surprised that, after a bit of a wait for menus, the service was friendly, not at all harried and very professional. Excellent cocktails- tamarind margaritas and a 'bilberry bitter' of vodka, blueberry juice and bitter lemon soda. Apps included a pleasantly spicy crab salad and exceptional scrambled eggs with ramps and mushrooms. Mains were halibut and soft-shell crabs, both surprisingly spiced (not hot but very flavorful). Don't miss the huge butterscotch pot de creme if it's on the dessert menu, but pass on espresso, which has an unpleasantly bitter lemony bite.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day PerfectionI went to New York for a special Mother's Day visit and had the best meal I could ever imagine. Their Bloody Mary's are made from scratch from San Marzano tomatoes. We all ordered different meals so we could share and their was not one disappointment only raves from the entire table. The service was impeccable and so pleasant. It is on the top of my list for NYC.
Thanks for a perfect Mother's Day brunch.
ps. DO NOT MISS THE BREAD PUDDING!!!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, very kind service,Good food, very kind service, and a welcoming atmosphere. But the mandated prixe fix brunch was very overpriced, with no added value to the consumer which disappointed me especially coming from USHG5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant BrunchYummy Scotch Bloody Mary...oysters delicious, pulled pork burger was special...overall very positive experience. Thanks.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat lower manhattan experienceInteresting menu, stellar service, everything was delicious. Went for lunch but would love to return for happy hour or dinner.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMI've had half a dozen mealsI've had half a dozen meals happily at North End Grill since it opened. But prices are up, and though dinner there is as good as it has always been, it's no better for the increased cost. The tab, for me, is now higher than the experience warrants, and I won't return in a hurry.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFloyd Cardoz does it again! The former brilliance behind Tabla has brought his unique sense of flavors and textures to this lovely spot way downtown amidst the glittering new construction on the edge of the Hudson. This time it's a reinvention of American fare for the most part, but his signature style flavors every dish. Must try the pea shoot salad, which they will cut the shoots for when you order. Freshness on a plate! So glad he is back and in such a lovely and lively space!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMCool spot in Battery ParkWe really enjoyed our meal -- especially the Hamachi appetizer, the asparagus side dish and the duck fat fries! Excellent service, too. If you're looking for a good spot in Battery Park, it's great to take an after-dinner walk along the river.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMBest choiceConsistently good food and service in an area without much competition.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was outstanding and uniqueFood was outstanding and unique which I love! Can't wait to go for dinner some day! Waiter was great!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFloyd cardoza is the chefFloyd cardoza is the chef and supremely talented. coupled with Danny Meyer it's a winning combo of food service and hospitality4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, good serviceThe design of the restaurant is very chic and modern. For those who like to watch the action in the kitchen, its right there for all to see, The food is simple yet still interesting and very flavourful. The food is definitely the highlight. For example my husband had the whole sea bass. It was simple and unadorned and perfectly done! The wine list is extensive and very reasonable. The service is attentive and friendly. No pretensions or attitude at all. Overall it was a great meal and evening.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Food in FiDiVery interesting food in a modern atmosphere. Across from the Irish famine monument that, although a tibute to a sad event, is a really cool and transporting spot to visit on the way in. Had a salad that was sanguine. Fish over a lentals with pomegranite seed broth was inspired. Comfortable, energetic buzz during lunch. Service was efficient and unobtrusive. Had a very creative spin on chocolate cake for desert with small dollops of ice cream and mounds of flakes chocolate. Went with a serious foodie. We were both impressed. With Sho Shaun Hergott gone, probably a cut above anything else downtown.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMNorth End brings back glory daysThis place takes Wall Street back to the halcyon pre-2008 days of free-spending diners. The place bubbles over with enthusiasm, and for good reason: the food is excellent, the wait staff is professional and accommodating, and the wine list is varied and well-chosen, at all price levels. A note of caution. If you are going to hang out at the bar, bring ear plugs. The din is deafening.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMChef Cardoz doesn't disappoint!Chef Cardoz doesn't disappoint! We missed his food after Tabla closed. Except for difficulty finding it [graphics are discreet] and very costly nearby parking garage, it was a wonderful dinner. A perfect Danny Meyer experience.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent and interestingIt was our third time here, and we very much appreciated how the restaurant has settled in. The food was not only excellent but very interesting, the wine good, the service very attentive, and we really like the decor of the restaurant. The ambiance was nice even though there were relatively few people there, because we were early. We passed by again after the movie, and the place was hopping.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMTypical Doesn't Mean Boring!I organized several people for a farewell lunch for a colleague on Good Friday, and none of the other three had been to the restaurant. All were very impressed with the quality and preparation of the food, the ambiance and the service, so not only did they (and particularly our departing friend) enjoy themselves, but I was happy with the result.
Thank you, North End Grill, for making the occasion special, just by doing well what you do every day.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMYou just can't go wrong here...I find innovative, interesting dishes and cocktails each time I go to North End Grill. This time, it was the Passover menu, a holdover from Chef Cardoz's "Unleavened Bread Bar" and communal Seder, which was held at Tabla for five years. The Goan-spiced brisket tops my own and my mom's, and that's high praise for sure.
You just can't go wrong with a meal here!3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat NYC brunchA new favorite for me in NYC. I liked Floyd Cardoz when I saw him on Top Chef and I thought his food and flavors looked interesting. That's what you can expect to get at North End Grill. I ended up having a 3 course brunch because the menu was full of great choices. I love his version of shrimp and grits. It may look refined but it certainly was not lacking in flavor. Service was excellent and despite it being busy, the ambiance was still very relaxed and unhurried. Great way to start a weekend.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBest dinner we've had in aBest dinner we've had in a long time- all courses and all diners! The food was outstanding and the service very attentive! We highly recommend this place which has a sophisticated and very pleasant atmosphere.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMBest food . The chef is amazingBest food . The chef is amazing !!!!! Very nice person
Everybody is very friendly .3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I were in NYCMy husband and I were in NYC for the 1/2 marathon and wanted a nice dinner downtown the night before. What a fabulous experience! From impeccable service to unique menu options, everything was wonderful. Loved that there was an "egg" course, which we hadn't seen before. My husband ordered sardines (not my thing, but he said they were "melt in your mouth" good), coddled eggs, lobster and grits (interesting flavor/texture) and skate. I had 5 grain salad (citrusy - yum!) and halibut (nicely done but a bit salty). Caramel pot de creme completed the night. Oh, and try the Mother's Milk beer - Amazing!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMNeighborhood TreasureI absolutely love the vibe of this restaurant. The food was spectacular and only daunted by the outstanding service and lively, yet comfortable atmosphere. Hand in glove...this is a treasure!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI was expecting good food,I was expecting good food, I found excellent food instead.
the service was prompt and corteous.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMLunch downtown on our list nowGreat to enjoy and explore downtown area as it usually restaurant-barren. Egg dishes YAY!!!! And both fish dishes were perfectly described and tasty.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our 1st visit toThis was our 1st visit to North End Grill and we loved the "Sunday night supper", contemporary design, and the table that we were seated at in the dining room. Our compliments to Danny Meyer for another award winning restaurant. Although New York's weather was frigid that night, the maitre d' made sure we were seated in a good location and my wife and I enjoyed two glasses of North End Grill's excellent Pinot Noir at the bar while waiting for our table. The supper included the flank steak with a delectable sauce, two fresh and wonderfully prepared vegetable dishes, and a dessert, all of which was shared. I highly recommend North End Grill for its unique Sunday night supper, its contemporary design, wonderful ambiance, and notable wine.2/17/2013 12:00:00 AMIn a word, fabulous. James,In a word, fabulous. James, our server, was not only knowledgeable and helpful, but also very accommodating. In fact, the entire staff was friendly, which was so refreshing. The food was unbelievable! I will highly recommend this restaurant.1/23/2013 12:00:00 AMStill a great place, but thereStill a great place, but there were lots of kids on a Saturday afternoon. I am not a huge fan of "lots of kids", especially when I'm enjoying a nice meal.1/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time at North End GrillFirst time at North End Grill for brunch, after several delightful dinners. Brunch was as excellent as dinners had been. Menu offerings were imaginative, staff was solicitous and suave. If you don't live in Battery Park City, North End Grill is a pain to reach, but it's worth the effort.11/18/2012 12:00:00 AM
