The noise level was just right, the pastas were homemade, and so was the prosciutto! Lorenzo and his brother Vince are a tribute to the family business and its success. I regularly ate here, but lost touch with San Francisco for a while. To return after 10 years to find this gem the same it has always been was most rewarding.
I truly hope to see Lorenzo and Vince keep the place going for the next 40+ years!
The wine list is phenomenal to say the least, the food and variety of choices remains top notch and the service is impeccable.

Chose North Beach because it had a good selection of possible seafood entrees- we don't eat red meat- and was not disappointed with the 'Petrale Sole' and the 'Grilled Halibut'. The Sole was a little better than the halibut but both were outstanding. Was surprised to find reasonably priced- for san fran- bottles of wine on the wine list. Groth Sauvignon Blanc never disappoints and the Seghesio Red Zinfandel is dependable.
Walk across the street for dessert to either of the two gelato stores.

I made a reservation and we walked to the restaurant from our hotel. We were seated immediately. The waiter was great. The food was very good. When the menu has a sparse description of the entrées etc and the waiter speaks broken English it is difficult to chose which entrée or appetizer is good. We had an incredibly tasty dinner - veal that melted in our mouth. Nice variety of appetizers for any tastebud. Our maitre 'd, host and server were so gracious, amicable and attentive - and they sang Happy Birthday to my sister with a candle in a piece of tiramisu. Can't say enough good about them. We sat downstairs in the wine cellar on Saturday Night and loved the atmosphere. We had such a great experience with the Petroni Brunello (Mel's suggestion) that we went wine tasting at the vineyard in Sonoma two days later!
