A word from NoRTH - Austin
North is offering a prix fixe menu and accepting reservations this Valentines Day! Please visit our website to view the menu and contact the restaurant directly to save your seat. We hope you will join us! Thanks, North
We’ve turned a modern lens on traditional Italian cooking. North Italia is our love letter to Italy—a place that’ll make you feel like you’ve stepped off a charming side street to discover a culinary gem. After a decade in business, we’ve learned a thing or two and we’re approaching perfection in the art of handmade pasta and pizza. Every day, we start from scratch to create dishes like Strozzapreti with Bloomsdale spinach or supple ribbons of tagliatelle for our Bolognese. Our pizza is a revelation: an airy, barely chewy center embraced by a perfectly crisp crust. With the spirit of the Italian taverna, North is the place to talk shop over a cocktail or swap gossip sharing delectable chef creations. Every neighborhood would be lucky to have a place like North.

Diner Reviews
  • "This is our go-to restaurant at the Domain. Love the grilled artichoke, all the salads and pasta's. Service is always excellent, the staff really knows their menu."

  • "Always a fun time. Food is good and service is prompt. The meatballs are the best."

  • "My prosciutto fig and goat cheese pizza was excellent as usual, though it did seem to taste a little different from the last time I had it. Not as savory as I remember it. My friend got the caprese sandwich and was shocked when the waiter brought her a sandwich with runny, gloppy, ricotta-like cheese spilling over the sides and a really unappetizing, odd-tasting sweet tomato jelly slathered onto that. I tasted it. It was awful. She had to scrape the tomato goop off as much as she could, then liberally salt and pepper the sandwich in order to stomach it. Oh, and she had to eat it with a knife and fork. It wasn't like any caprese sandwich we'd ever encountered before and kind of put a damper on the lunch because it was so disappointing."

  • "Excellent experience at North. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. As has been mentioned before, the place is noisy. Is was not a problem for our table of four, but anything larger than that you may be hard pressed to hear the person down the table."

  • " I know I am getting older, but the "music" in the background really added nothing to the experience. A restaurant with those acoustics - and being at the Domain - has plenty audio stimulus to make it interesting, without some load bass bumping noise in the background. Come on, people do like to talk some while at a restaurant, and music in the background that you cannot even discern the artist adds nothing, and subtracts much. My only other complaint was the bartender we had while waiting for a table. I know bartenders have a fast paced job. But if you are going to charge $15.00 for a glass of Cabernet, I would like to have a minute to decide which one, she proceeded to rudely thump at the wine list in front of me."

  • "NoRTH's strength is obviously in the kitchen. The service is also excellent. Which makes for a great dinning experience. This is a high energy place to enjoy a well prepared meal. Good wine list as well. You cannot go wrong here. If you want quiet, this is not the place for you. If you want to have a great meal and enjoy life doing it, then this is a great place to do it."

  • "Food and service were good. Seemed a little loud when we first got there but once we were seated I didn't notice it as much."

  • "Our two youngest kids were away at camp, so my wife and I decided to take our teenage daughter out for dinner. It turned out great. The picky teenager loved the pizza and caesar salad, and my wife and I were able to enjoy the pasta, appetizers, wine, and cocktails. It was a little noisy to be perfect for dinner conversation, but we didn't mind too much. The meal was paced slowly, which encouraged us to relax between courses. If you're looking for a place to get in and out quickly, you might want to look for another place. (Lunch service is considerably faster, I've found.) Highly recommended."

  • "North is my favorite restaurant when I visit Austin. Definitely reccomend to anyone looking for great food. Get the Bruschettas!!!! (& Artichokes)!"

  • "Been going to North for a few years now. Business is good! Wine list is nice. Food is good, but not great. Definitely have better Italian (pasta & seafood) at other restaurants. Great place for a casual dinner where noise isn't a concern."
    Dined on 7/26/2014
  • "We were there on a Saturday for lunch at 1. By 2, the entrees weren't out yet, but the Zucca chips are delish and we weren't in a hurry. Our server, who was very pregnant, was terrific."

  • "Made reservations a week to 10 days out. When we arrived were led to an outside table without being asked if eating outside in temp of 90 degrees plus ok. Service was abysmal. Food when it finally arrived all at once - appetizer, salad and entrees - was at best acceptable. Pizza very good. Pasta with spicy shrimp had good pasta with dinky frozen shrimp. Grilled artichokes were overcooked. Croutons in Caesar salad were pieces of stale bread and not herbed. Bottle of sparkling rose arrived at room temp. Ice in ice bucket was so minimal we put ice and water from our own glasses of water in it. Doubt we will ever go back."

  • "I took my girlfriend out for her birthday, it's the first time either of us have had a birthday since we got together, so I wanted something special. All my plans for a romantic day had fallen apart, and dining at NoRTH was the only part of my plan that stayed intact. We got there in time for our reservation, they had a nice table waiting for us, our server was very polite and an all-around cool guy. The food was fantastic (I recommend the bolognese), and the dessert phenomenal (we had the salted caramel budino [not sure if I'm spelling that correctly]). Great experience all around, and we can't wait to dine at NoRTH again soon."

  • "We absolutely love North. The food is delicious in a great atmosphere. Happy Hour specials are a great way to enjoy a group of friends over drinks & light food."
    Dined on 7/20/2014
  • "We had delicious food, served attractively. We had excellent attentive service and noticed a huge staff of waiters and waitresses always hustling and smiling. The only hitch? I picked NoRTH based on a Yelp! review saying "average" noise level, versus other spots in the area rated "loud." We found the restaurant to be very loud on a Saturday afternoon, having to almost yell to carry on a conversation. It detracted from the experience but, depending on our mood, we'll likely find another time to go back."

  • "Food and Wine were not cheap - but delicious esp. The Bolognese pasta and the Caesar Salad! Don't be in a hurry, tho."

  • "We are regulars at North. We love the good food, innovative cousine and the feel of the place. We will go there for lunch or dinner at any time. Service is usually good to great, but this last time for dinner on July 13, the waiter needed some training. Very slow service (his service.... drinks, a napkin, a fork... not kitchen service), he did not seem motivated at all. I usually tip arround 20%, but he did not at all earn his tip, which we had to reduce for this ocassion. I suggest the manager works on staff training, as this place is great!!"

  • "Took my best friend out for a birthday lunch. The pizza was great, salads delicious, and the pastas were amazing. Also, do yourself a favor and grab a pitcher of sangria. Samantha was our server and I went with all her suggestions and left very happy. Great time."

  • "Food is mediocre, their famous zucca chips are nothing but greasy , salty and burned zucchini slices. I you want real italian food go somewhere else where food is better and cheaper. I had a pizza which is mostly bread, the toppings are very "slim". The server hated his own life, rude, absent and careless."

  • "We are frequent OpenTable diners at North and the service and food are always excellent. At our last dinner (on a Sunday night), our server forgot about us. Yes, he took our orders and filled up our water glasses, but most of the time he appeared disinterested. In fact, we didn't get part of our order, and he passed by our table three times without asking how we were doing. He was much more attentive to the two tables next to us, and for some reason just forgot about us. When we asked for the check and requested we not be charged for the missing item, his response was "I wish I had known about the missing portion earlier" - sorry, I guess we should have shouted to hail him down! Thanks to the manager for the free entree, though!"

  • "I was so glad I made a reservation because it was very crowded and we would have had to wait for a table. The food was just delicious and our waiter was great."

  • "Good food, reasonably priced, good variety of food and good service. Only drawback was the noise level made it difficult to carry on a conversation."

  • "Service was slow but friendly. It took near 40 minutes to receive our sangria we ordered upon arrival. The people are great though! Food is still delicious but we noticed going downhill from how it used to be. Hope it was a one off. Bruschetta ok, chicken ok, pizza half and half amazing and ok, dessert pretty amazing and complimentary for birthday!"

  • "North is one of my favorite restaurants. Service is always good. Food is excellent. Like their outdoor dining area since the remodel. Always a favorite of ours."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "I have been to North before, and always enjoy dining here. It was my birthday and received a coupon for a free desert. I always like the mussels, very well cooked and presented. The grilled artichoke was excellent too. We shared a pizza with procuitto and goat cheese and ordered a carafe of sangria. I took home the tarimisu to enjoy later. Nice evening out."

  • "A great place and an excellent food, both for family or couples."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "I went to North with a few girlfriends. The food is excellent (it always is). This time I had the grilled artichokes and for dinner the seasonal vegetable salad with chicken (delicious!!!). The sangria was yummy; not bad for $6, and their wine list while not super long, is more than sufficient. Riesling is my favorite, and they have a great one. My only complaint was the heat inside this time. The last time I sat inside, they had all the doors open, so even though we were in, there was still a sense of being out; a nice breeze, live music out in the courtyard. Fabulous. THIS time everything was closed up and it felt very stuffy and humid. Not pleasant. That would've been the only thing I'd have changed. Overall a great experience."

  • "I have been going to North for over 6 years now and I have been disappointed to see some of my favorite menu items fade away. This meal was by far the best yet. After indulging in the bruschetta and the unreal calamari salad, I tried the cheese tortellini for the first time. The almost charred taste of fresh corn and peas made for a real treat. The meal from start to finish was unbelievable. I have been craving it every meal since."

  • "The food was great but after having a couple of extra people on our table, I am assuming he was the manager and came over just to say that they were not able to accommodate us anymore....we were still in the middle of finishing up our meals and also still consuming drinks. I won't recommend this place to anyone solely based on that experience. "

  • "The food is consistently good and the wait staff is a notch above. My wife and I like that the hostesses remember us and threat us like VIP's. Love the salads, fish, pasta and pizza. "

  • "This is one of my favorite places to eat in Austin. The food is consistent and delicious. They have a wide variety of wines and the service is excellent."

  • "Very good food. A little bit pricy compared to others, bit the food is quite good and I keep returning even with a higher price."
    Dined on 5/23/2014
  • "The service was horrible. Our waiter never checked on us, assumed we were ready to order the minute we sat down, never brought a spoon for my coffee, forgot my broccolini."

  • "I took my daughter to NoRTH for a pre-graduation (high school) celebration. Our server was super friendly and knowledgeable. He made great recommendations based on our preferences. We ordered red Sangria, two pasta dishes, and a Nutella dessert. All very delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by the lightness of the dessert. The restaurant was very open, and great for people watching. "

  • "I absolutely adore North. The freshly made pasta is my go-to choice and I am never disappointed. The service is always good, but on my last visit, it was stellar! The wine list is great, I love the open-air feel of the place, but I have to admit, it's the zucca chips that keep me coming back!"
