Diner Reviews
  • "My waiter was attentive, friendly and efficient. Loved him. Loved the Eggs Benedict. They were cooked to perfection with luscious lemony Hollandaise. My daughter ordered decadent chocolate French toast and found it amazing. Although I'm not a sweets for breakfast kind of girl, I loved blend of strawberries, chocolate sauce, pistachios, whipped cream and crunchy chocolate French toast. I'll be back to Norma's for more Eggs Benedict and the nova platter. "

  • "We were seated immediately even though we were 15 minutes late for our reservation. The service was really good at first and they gave us a really great berry smoothy "amuse bouche". Menu looked amazing and food was very good. Portions were huge (so if you get sticker shock just remember you'll probably be getting 2 meals out of it). Our waiter disappeared while we were trying to get the check - might have gone on break? Overall I thought Norma's was a really good brunch spot though I would go back to try what looked like amazing french toast"

  • "The flatbread served w/ rolls was unique and flavorful, the best I have ever tasted. Great menu selections. The service got slower as the restaurant became busy. "

  • "For lovers of breakfast, this is your spot! There's something on the menu for everyone. While not inexpensive, the portions are large and ideal for sharing. I've been coming back for years, now, and everyone in my party always leaves with a smile on their face. Great for brunch on weekdays and well situated for midtown activities. "

  • "Norma's has a terrific menu of unusual brunch items and all 5 in my group liked their choices a lot. Service is painfully slow and from some of the other reviews, we lucked out with a friendly server, at least. Be prepared to pay $30 a person."

  • "My wife had it on "her list" for places to eat in NYC. The food was very good, but expensive for breakfast. The service was very slow. I couln't figure out if there were not enough waiters or ours was completely overwhelmed, or both."

  • "When I stay the hotel, I always have Belgian Waffles! It's been the best in NY, US and everywhere!"

  • "Our go to spot in NYC. Hands down the best breakfast and brunch in Midtown or anywhere in Manhattan. Not for the meek of wallet!"

  • "We stay in this neighborhood often and this is the best breakfast around. Food service and location keep us coming back."

  • "I came here for the second time with my boyfriend after we had went last year (when we absolutely loved it). I ordered the lobster & asparagus omelette and my boyfriend got the Nutella jacks. The former was well cooked with perfectly salted baby potatoes on the side. The latter however was not as impressive, the pieces of fruit served were not as fresh and the Nutella pancakes just didn't have that impressive taste and texture you usually expect to find at Norma's when it comes to sweet breakfasts. We still would go again however, as this probably was just a one-time thing. What really disappointed us however was the service. The food took around 30 minutes to come, and we had to ask our waiter twice for the check before it finally came."

  • "I went here with my mother for brunch and we had a wonderful experience! Food, service and ambience were all great!"

  • "The food is consistently delicious, but the service is extremely slow. We waited 10 minutes before anyone came by our table. Always a good spot to take out-of-towners, but you have to have use all of your patience for this place."

  • "Service great. Menu has so many choices. Delicious. Kept resv. Right on time. Will def. go back again. Great for special occasion and any day!"

  • "Norma's has some of the best, inventive, delectable breakfast/brunch food in NYC. It is a fun place to go with friends or family for a special occasion or just a nice Pre-Theater bite. I highly recommend the Crunchy French Toast!"

  • "Food is excellent as always. Service needs to improve. It's a shame that our table of two was barely attended. We had to ask five times for water until it finally came."

  • "A friend who only knows Norma's by reputation alone directed me to it on my first trip to NYC. Needless to say, I'll be going back on every trip from here on out. I've never seen such an inventive menu, and the food stands up to the descriptions. And they have the best fresh OJ ever."

  • "This was an exceptionally good breakfast...not necessarily calorie wise but worth every bit."

  • "This was my second time at Norma's and, once again, the service left much to be desired. The food is excellent--I highly recommend the mac and cheese, blueberry pancakes, and the very berry brioche french toast. Be warned-the bottomless orange juice is $9 a glass (and tastes like a lot of sugar has been added to it!) and they do not tell you this before filling it up."

  • "Decor outdated. Food half as good as it used to be."
    Dined on 3/30/2014
  • "Great place for brunch. Portions were incredibly big. I'd prefer the portions be smaller so that not much food is wasted. Many people do not take their breakfast to go after they've sat down."

  • "Cold coffee, cold eggs, slow slow service (which happened to suit us, but it was REALLY slow). Huge huge portions to the point of being unappetizing. Don't recommend it for anything."

  • "Even though you might think a small restaurant-cafeteria in a hotel might not be so special, but Norma's will change your mind. With a very different menu and beautifully presented dishes, it delivers. The food is delicious and although the service is not fast, it lets you enjoy and savor every bite. A must when you visit New York!!! Just make sure you have a reservation or you'll have to wait for over an hour."

  • "Great service, nice ambience for a breakfast meeting. However, the place is overpriced for breakfast, especially considering the options nearby."

  • "I saw Norma's on TV in the UK and booked there and then. Knowing we were visiting the USA in March for our 10 year wedding Anniversary I decided to book us in as a real treat. And a treat it most def was. It is some of the best food we have ever had. I already knew I ways having waz at, and it didn't let me down. The pulled pork with potatoes was were my husband went and it Was Devine. This experience has made us decide to stay at Le Parker Maridian the next time we visit."

  • "I always enjoy a brunch at Norma's!!! Not inexpensive, but a creative approach to brunch, overall an excellent, fun expererience."

  • "Disappointed in overall experience. The waiter did not great us , nor help us squeeze through the crowded table arrangements, nor did he welcome us or ask us had we dined there before He did approach us with a pitcher of fresh squeezed orange juice but did not say that it was 9.00 a glass. This was not a warm welcome feeling as we traveled from out of state specifically to eat at Norma's before going to the theatre. The two of us dining had the egg white shrimp omelet ( the egg and shrimp were a bit dry though the toast was delicious) and overpriced, as were the potato pancakes though they were delicious. Overall, the lack of ambience, the crowded tables and the overpriced plates made us decide that we would not be returning."

  • "Food was great except for the huevos rancheros, which were disappointing. Loved the briocjhe french toast and crispy french toast. Also, it took a very long time to get served. Fun and pretty setting."

  • "This is my third time having brunch at Norma's. The only problem this time was they were painting upstairs and the whole building smelled like acetone. But everything else was awesome as usual and we will go back for sure, Definitely the best brunch in town!"

  • "The food here is absolutely cartoon food, and it is fun. I remember loving this place when I was younger, but having gone back recently, I've come to realize that with so many great brunches in the city, this place is really just an above-average tourist trap. The food is good, the portions are mountainous, and there are definitely things here you won't find anywhere else, but unless you have kids (who will certainly love the ridiculous array of waffles and French toast they have on their menu), personally, I'd say you can find tons of brunches that far exceed the quality of Norma's, and in much better locations. All that said, I'll probably wind up back here one day because it's an easy spot to find something for everyone."

  • "We went for brunch. The food was out of this world! My only gripe is that for 2 people to get waffles and bacon it came to $100. They charge $9 per person for a cup of orange juice and $7 per person for a cup of coffee..definitely adds up. But if you're going with the intention of spending that type of money, it is absolutely worth it. The food is out of this world!"

  • "Norma's is always a great go-to! It was my first time ordering waffles and although delicious, they were not as warm as i would have liked, but i know thats hard given how quickly waffles cool. The immense amount of fruit that comes with the waffle made up for it!"

  • "I had brunch on March 16th at Norma's for my birthday, and it was the best breakfast food I have ever had in my life. The gentlemen at the table next to us, before we got our food, leaned over and said "we just can't stop saying to each 'there are no words....there are no words'. Everything is phenomenal." And they were 100% right!! From the fresh squeezed orange juice, to the service to everything we ate...it was perfection. I will absolutely be back the next time I'm in the City. Everyone should visit this restaurant at least one time! Pricey....but completely worth it!"

  • "We were excited to get a reservation at Norma's on our 2nd attempt, after being unsuccesful on our last visit to the city. Perhaps the forced delayed gratification inflated our expectations but our visit to Norma's was a collosal let down. The room itself is decorated in a jetson's diner theme - in stark contrast to the elegant lobby. The seating is close - as is expected in a food factory focused on optimizing profit. Plan your conversation to the mundane and ridiculous as you will be sharing it with the the next table - less than 1 ft away. Food was mediocre. On a high note - service was attentive & congenial. Breakfast with coffee, tax & tip - no alcohol - set us back $75. We have done so much better in the city for much less."
