Norman's at the Ritz-Carlton OrlandoBeyond expectationsMy friend and I dined at Norman's June 14, 2013 and we could not have been more pleased. Our server, David was so good I would ask for him again. His menu knowledge was impressive. The entire staff at the restaurant performed flawlessly. I have worked in restaurants in the past and taken many classes on excellence in service and Norman's never missed a beat. The wine list was extensive, and they are using iPads as well as printed wine lists. The fine marble not only ran across the floor, but up the walls as well. Cleaver acoustic details to trap sound, kept the sound level low. The veal chops and Havana pork roast were easily among the best meals that any of us had ever experienced. A bit expensive, but worth the price. We'll happily return whenever in the Orlando area.

We split 3 appetizers, each of which was a taste of heaven. I had the Rhum and Pepper coated Chilean Sea Bass which was perfectly cooked and the sweet fish was offset perfectly with a slightly spicy sauce. The poblano pepper stuffed with mashed sweet potatoes was incredible.The iPad wine list was great, easy to read. Dessert was highlighted by a plate of chocolate/peanut butter bites, one for each of the 5 of us, with the occasion painted onto the plate as well as a candle. I've lived in Orlando for 13 years and have found no other restaurant that would top Normans. The food is incredible and the service is beyond expectations. I asked if they could place a congratulations note on our table when I made the reservation and they brought out custom menus with the note printed at the top of each one and gave us a signed copy as we left. Seated in the special center area, wonderful attention to detail by the servers. We considered the tasting menu, decided to orde ala carte. The fried green tomatoes, beef tartare, and ceviche for appetizers. Ceviche was prepared table-side for a special treat. Yuka stuffed shrimp -- wonderful! Brazillian styled creamy cracked conch chower, not a fan, it was well prepared, a little sweet in taste and not to our liking. We had the fish -- me the rhum and pepper painted chilean sea bass, hubby the pan cooked fillet of yellowtail snapper. Both excellently prepared and tasty. A great wine list here, must splurge a bit. The wait and service staff is extremely attentive - always keeping a watchful eye on the table. The menu has a slight Latin style and flavoring which only adds to the taste. The Brazilian conch soup is amazing, the Pork "Havana" was tender and juicy. The Yellowtail Snapper is served with "garlicky" potatoes - they do mean garlicky. I had the prix fixed menu and my husband selected from the regular menu. They were still able to time our meals perfectly.
