Much better than the previous
visit two days before. The sashimi was spectacular and the wag you beef very good."

As a party of three we were put at
a table for eight..very awkwatd. Had to ask for soy sauce after our sushi was delivered twice!"

We had an amazing time and
Norio's! We even went back for a second time because the service and food was phenomenal. The view was exceptional and the sushi was incredible!"

My family and I ate here recently
and had an enjoyable experience. The food was very tasty, though the service was a bit slow. We opted to eat inside, but the view form the outdoor tables can't be beat!"

OUTSTANDING FOOD, better than
Brown's Beach House."
Dined on 6/19/2014
We ordered the Kobe beef appetizer
special. It had less than 1 oz of beef, barely enough to even taste it. I was then shocked when I saw the bill and they had charged $41 for this appetizer. I think that it was way overpriced for what we get and they should have told us how much it cost before ordering it."

Food a bit inconsistent but nice
option for dining. "

Dining partner said best ahi tuna

Went there last week for dinner at
sunset with our 2 teens. In Denver, we have some pretty decent sushi venues, but this was truly great. Started with fun sake tasting flight....sea weed salad was a unique triple taste presentation. Ono and toro sashimi : thick slices and out of this world...right off the boat. Transitional space gives a nice outdoor feel. Rolls were assembled expertly and generously. If you are a sushi fan, do not miss this when on the Kohala Coast!"

Started with the Fairmont Rolls -
a delicious appetizer. The Waigu beef was tender and tasty!"
Dined on 2/20/2014
The Red Dragon roll was amazing in
flavour and presentation and the shashimi was out of this world."

Norio's was a big disappointment.
Don't waste your time or money here. There are so many better options. Sadly, the rainbow roll and the spicy hamachi roll were very ordinary. We've had better grocery store sushi for a fraction of the price. The tempura batter was way too thick on the dragon roll, so much so that the shrimp was hard to detect. And the pieces of avocado on top were nonexistent or mere slivers. We tried Monstera for sushi earlier in the week and were very happy with the food and service."
Dined on 2/8/2014
Our server was nice however a 1
hour to wait after we were seated for 4 sushi roles is not a nice dining experience by any means."
Dined on 2/3/2014
My husband and I had sushi and
tempura at Norio's. Both were good but not good enough to justify the cost, particularly the shrimp tempura. A really good tempura should have an ethereal batter. Norio's was heavy and tasted of oil and it was expensive. The sushi was better but not expertly made. My husband's soft shell crab roll was loosely rolled and came apart. My spicy scallop roll was so heavily sauced that I could not identify it as scallop. While I expect resort food to be pricey, I also expect the quality to be superior so this fell a little short. But, given some of the other choices at Fairmont which can be even more expensive, it isn't a bad choice. Just stick with simple, less expensive menu items."

The sushi was fantastic, I think
my coworkers enjoyed their steaks. The negative of our experience was that when we tried to get a table (the other on-site restaurant was full so the hostess called over to Norio's, and was told they were also booked for another 2 hours)-- we were not able to. That is, until I checked my Open Table app and they were wide open. We booked the table thru that and were seated with no discussion about the reservation. The down side was that we were seated in the back of the restaurant, inside, with no view. I think it is disingenuous for the restaurant to play these reservation games, especially with guests staying at this pricey hotel. Luckily the service was good and I loved the hamachi/avocado appetizer."

We have had breakfast,lunch,brunch
and dinner here as we are staying at the resort. It has not been crowded with a wait once.Yet it seems busy when you really look.the layout helps to do this. there is the patio and dinning by the pond as well as inside at the sushi bar etc. Have enjoyed every meal nice wine selection including Saki.Last time Chef made up plate with fresh fish of Nigiri/sushimi magnificent. Calamari was wonderful.Only issue was the wooden chopsticks which must have been raised before as when I asked for a nicer pair she found them. Small detail but I like nice utensils when I eat."

I have never had bad food in
Hawaii in the 5 years in a row that I have been vacationing in Hawaii, but sadly Norio's fell in that "bad meal" category. I dined at Norio's last year and it was fantastic. But it went down the tube since then. While the service was very friendly, it was slow and completely disorganized. The fish was definitely not fresh, and was actually quite smelly - the same horrible smell that was hanging around the sushi bar, where I dined. In addition to the poor quality of the fish, the portions were ridiculously small, especially for the price being charged. I also overheard a lady at the other end of the sushi bar complaining to the waiter about the shrimp tempura being soggy. Pretty telling!"

Wasn't the best or worst I've had
by far. Thought the food was good. Did Omakase 4 course which I thought was overpriced for what I received. Ambiance was lacking. Service was adequate."

Great Filet Mignon and pretty good
sushi. Not much competition for this restaurant on this island."
Dined on 11/8/2013
Norio's would get a solid Very
Good to Excellent rating were it not for the fact that the place feels like an after thought in the hotel design. Based on the quality of the food and service, Norio's deserves to have a well designed Japanese sushi and steakhouse space rather than occupying the space that provides breakfast for the hotel guests. The Fairmont doesn't usually make this kind of mistake. Our sushi dinner, with a tasting of three sakes, was excellent. Our server was congenial, well informed about the food and drink, and very attentive. It was an altogether very good dining experience which could have been far better if it weren't in a space that did not compliment the kitchen's efforts."

lovely Fairmont Orchid resort. The food was delicious and the service was great."

18 year wedding
anniversary! TERRIBLE, PATHETIC service. We were seated 20 minutes after arriving. Was there 2 -1/2 hours for a steak, asparagus, 2 sushi rolls and truffle fries that showed up only after I asked twice for them. No one really cared if we were having a nice meal, pleasant experience or otherwise. An evening that is supposed to be relatively stress free, turned into a fiasco trying to simply eat a meal. Will NEVER go back and will NEVER recommend Norio's. the worries never even asked me if the food was tasting good. Nothing, not even a refill of water!! Just an AWFULL end to an evening that was supposed to be a memorable one. It definitely was a "memorable" one, just not like I had envisioned. Too bad!!"

We were hotel guests at the Orchid
and went to Norio's for dinner one night. We stuck to the seafood part of the menu and were not disappointed. The fish tasted fresh and delicious (as expected, given the price level of this restaurant). We had an appetizer selection and then the Chef's menu. Both were perfectly prepared and enough to fill two adults and one child."
Dined on 8/22/2013
Extremely overpriced, Norio
Yakamoto is no longer associated with this restaurant and it only uses his name. He has opened a separate restaurant in at Maula Lani. Portions were very small - hand rolls were mainly rice without any other ingredients; I can't even say how disappointed my wife and I were with this establishment considering the reputation of the Fairmont Orchid. We expected first rate sushi only to find that we have much better sushi in CA at a local strip mall. Staff was pleasant, but they were out of several items on a Friday night which seemed odd. We would not recommend this establishment to anyone."

Good sushi and sashimi but not
great. Got mochi ice cream for dessert and it was old and horrible. Overpriced."

waitress 60.00:) 45% of our bill"

My husband thought the food was
better here than at Browns. Both were delicious. Must try the tempura asparagus and sashimi set."

Just ok. Food was good , not
amazing. Service was really lacking"
Dined on 6/20/2013
The sushi was excellent, but the
ambiance and sevice was not of the same level. Not bad, just not great. The chairs in the dining room are not the right height for the tables which is a little odd also. Next time, perhaps a seat at the Sushi bar would better fit the bill."

We experienced an inviting
greeting at the front desk and were welcomed warmly by Dee, the manager on our way to our seat. Our waitress was personable and knowledgeable and made us feel special throughout the evening. As this was our first visit here we ordered the Chef's Selection (it may have a different name) and Chef Darren made an amazing selection of pupus, salad, risotto and grilled fish and "beef" which turned out to be much healthier buffalo accompanied by delicious truffle fries and a delicious non-dairy mochi and strawberry dessert. We loved every item he selected for us. Overall this was one of our best dining experiences ever. This restaurant shouldn't be overlooked! We can't wait to go back."

If you have a kid who is 5 or
under, they are free to eat if you are staying at Fairmont Orchid! Fantastic food, view, and service! Must try their special of the night!"

We ate dinner @ Norios on a Friday
evening. The restaurant is not large; they were busy and reservations were definitely needed. The dining area is very pretty with a Sushi Bar available. We were seated for dining and the ambiance is really nice; casual open air dining. We ordered the two Fairmont Signature rolls and enjoyed them very much. We also ordered the red crab cake to share as an appetizer. It was delicious and perfect for two people to share. Service was excellent. Highly recommend and we would go again."
Dined on 5/3/2013
The expanded menu to include beef
in addition to the traditional Japanese fair has just improved this restaurant."
Dined on 4/29/2013
Truly enjoyed the food though some
plates were a miss. We dined twice. First was amazing the second time just OK. Highly recommend the orchid roll, the Ahi and the sirloin. The wagyu was just OK. Service was great both times."
Dined on 3/29/2013
Everything is great, but the NY
Strip steak is the best I've ever tasted, even compared to the top NYC steakhouses."
Dined on 3/21/2013
Overall good, but the food was not
as good as expected. The mushroom miso soup was barely warm, the server didn't know which fish was which on the nigiri set, the fish was fresh but the rice was loose and fell apart on many of the nigiri. The red dragon roll was very good. Overall we expected better for the reputation and the price."
Dined on 3/7/2013
I ate at Norio's while staying at
the Fairmont. We were seated outside on a windy night, so it was colder and less pleasant than expected but it was not a big issue and outside dining is probably more enjoyable on other nights. The inside room was much livelier with several groups near the sushi bar. We ordered several sushi rolls and the crabs cakes. The sushi was good as was the crab cake. I don't know if I would order the crab again though, as the $20 crab cakes was in fact a single cake the size of a 1/2 lb hamburger patty. The rest of the menu looked interesting and was not the standard Japanese Steakhouse that someone from the midwest would expect, but I only ate here once so I could not try more."
Dined on 3/2/2013
Sushi was good. Swordfish entree
was o.k. Dessert was forgetable. Service o.k. Had to wait quite a while for entree and dessert."
Dined on 3/2/2013
I used Open Table to make a
reservation ahead to make sure my friend and I would not have hard time finding a nice place to have dinner on our weekend getaway at Fairmont Orchid the past weekend. So, I decided to dine on the property, Norio's. The service was bad. We waited for a long time before our food came. The order was wrong. The calamari appetizer was rubbery and salty. The sushi and sashimi did not wow me considering the restaurant is in a high end resort. The dessert was disappointing. I had the Japanese sponge cake. It was so dry. I could bake better than that."
Dined on 2/23/2013
Extremely disappointed. Service
was awful and it appeared to be that way for virtually everyone. Waited ten minutes after seating to even have someone take a drink order and it was downhill from there. When the sushi finally arrived, it was mediocre at best. I can get better in Canton, Ohio where I live. Entree of tenderloin had good flavor but was a bit overcooked. The surf part of my surf and turf still hadn't arrived when I took my last bite of steak and I just cancelled it. That's how the whole evening went. Would not go back."
