A word from Nora's Table
Nora's Table is a chef-driven restaurant in Hood River, Oregon, known for its farm-to-table ethic, a menu that changes daily, and award-winning Gorge wine list.
The Oregonian newspaper gave the restaurant a rare A- and said "Nora's has turned the gorge from a geological statement into a cuisine." TripAdvisor rates it the Number One Hood River restaurant.
Hood River is the center of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic area, and Oregon's second best-known wine scene, after the Willamette Valley.
"Our menu is created almost entirely from the food shed around our iconic Mt. Hood. All our beef, lamb and pork come from our local ranches, and what our farmers bring us each day drives what goes on our menu," says chef and owner Kathy Watson. "Right down to our ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise, bread, pasta, crackers and pickles, it's all hand-made by our great crew. We love bringing the best of the Gorge to our plates."

This was a fun find and very good food. Highly recommend the mushroom soup and hamburger. Salmon was good if you like tarragon which I'm not fond of. We checked out restaurant listings in Hood River to find this place. They were rated in the top 10 of 112.

I made a 6:45 reservation, and it was good I did, as I saw a number of groups turned away (although there were 2 tables that never did have anyone at them, shame on no shows.). I had the lamb shank oso buco, excellent falling-off-the bone, with a gremolata on top that perfectly complemented it. The only reason for not rating this 5 star is the spaetzle, on the bottom, was obviously plated way earlier than the meat, and was cold when it arrived at my table. The meat soon warmed it up, so got better. Obviously love went into the preparation of the meat.

Delicious food, altho quite limited menu & expensive. It would have felt "energetic" at Nora's with just the conversation noise in this small, crowded space, but they also had music going (& not quiet classical). Not a relaxed evening meal, but probably a very good breakfast spot.

My wife and I are from New York and we frequent high-end restaurants in NYC often. After a very pleasant evening at Nora's Table, I am pleased to report that the New York City restaurants have absolutely nothing over this very fine establishment with an excellent kitchen. The menu at Nora's Table is far from vast, yet it is diverse with many interesting dishes. The kitchen does an excellent job preparing the meals and the presentation at the table is wonderful. Service is professional and yet low-key. When I return to Hood River, I will definitely be making a dinner reservation here.

An unexpected culinary treat: Nora's heirloom tomato salad. Sorry to report that this outstanding portion of our meal will disappear due to its being a seasonal delight. The bread sticks were fantastic and our respective meals of gnocchi and a good ol' hamburger made for a perfect dinner experience. Thank you!

Our party of four arrived and was seated promptly. We ordered our dinner and then waited 1 1/4 hors for our food to arrive. The waitress came once to say "it will only be a few minutes longer", then it was an additional 15 minutes. On arrival one dish was entirely cold and served in an unappealing fashion. The hamburgers were great that two of our party ordered. Unfortunately this was our first time and probably last for some time.

The food was excellent--definitely seasonal and local. Our waiter was knowledgeable and was able to direct us to the produce market and wineries whose products we enjoyed. The combination of small plates and entrees on the menu was very enticing--difficult to choose. We will return to Nora's Table next time we are in Hood River.

The food tasted very good. I was disappointed that while the description of the dish included vegetables, there was about tablespoon of carrots, and the potatoes were painted onto the plate in an artistic, but very thin shape. For $22 the salmon was lonely on the plate and in my stomach. There were indeed salads and appetizers that could be ordered for an extra charge.... It was our anniversary, but I was reluctant to up the ante to $50 a plate. We went to Safeway after supper to get some fruit to dull the edge of my hunger.

We had a reservation and a nice table was waiting for us. We appreciated that. But we came at a busy time and our waiter had too many tables to attend to us. We waited an hour after our starters for our entrees. We saw that other tables that arrived after us had been served their entrees and were being given the dessert menus. Our waiter apologized, saying that the kitchen was too small to keep up with orders when the restaurant fills up all at once. When we finally got our entrees, they were barely warm, and served on a cold plate. We sent them back and were given fresh hot entrees, which we appreciated. If we go there again we will try to go at an off-time in the middle of the week. Good wine selection at very good prices.

Nora's Table wowed us once again ~ in fact, it just keeps getting better and better! We were seated promptly & not only our waiter, but everyone working there, lavished attention on us ~ we opted for many small plates instead of 2 entrees so that we could better sample their food and were enchanted by every single bite. Truly a step above many other local restaurants. The food was prepared in different & creative ways, was incredibly fresh & flavorful, and left us feeling completely satiated without being overly full. Do not leave without sampling the flourless chocolate cake ~ divine!

My girlfriend and I ate at Nora's during a recent trip to Hood River. Pros: - The food- Nora's menu seems to be a pretty unique blend of Asian, Indian, and local fare, and every dish was fantastic- from the Samosas to the Salmon- top notch. - The drinks- I had one of the best cocktails ever (local whiskey and fruit juices/bitters), and my girlfriend had a fantastic glass of pinot grigio. - The service- our waiter was attentive, and genuinely pleasant (not falsely ingratiating as can often be the case). Cons: - layout of seats/tables didn't provide for much privacy

My friends and I went on a day trip to an art gallery in Hood River. I selected Nora's Table based on on-line information, including menu options, for an early dinner before retuning to Portland. We were not disappointed. Our table was ready when we arrived, and the hostess was kind and efficient. All the wait staff were knowledgeable and helpful. We ordered fish cakes and calamari for appetizers. both delicious; indeed the calamari was some of the best I've ever had - tender, flavorful and perfectly cooked. They used rice flour, so they were gluten-free The fish cakes too were gluten free, served with fresh basil, lemon cucumber slices and a sweet chili sauce. So wonderful we ordered a second appetizer plate! We will return!

First and foremost, the dinner we had at Nora's was outstanding. I was part of a group of five, and each person had a different entree and had nothing but raves. Where Nora's dropped the ball a bit was on the wine front. We brought two very nice bottles, but they only had one decanter - for the entire restaurant! Okay, not every table requests that wine be decanted, but then it turns out they only had three red wine glasses - and those three had tasting room logos on them. When your food is so wine-friendly and you're in a part of the world where wineries abound, Nora's needs to be better prepared with a decent supply of wine glasses and a few decanters.

We were late from our reservation as east Route 14 was closeed for 20 mins so we were partly at fault. However, once we were finally seated no one brought water or took our drink order for about 15 minutes. It took a half hour to order food and an hour the get the food. We were told the kitchen was backed up. If we had been told no one could wait on us for 15-30 minutes and the kitchen was over an hour behind we would have left. Instead we had a very disappointing evening.

Nora ' s Table is our favorite restaurant in Hood River. The food is always so fresh and delicious, and made with local ingredients. We find something new to try every time we dine there. I was hesitant to order the Thai Salmon Cakes, because so many times dishes like this end up being so full of breading. So I asked our waiter how much breading I could expect in theirs. To my surprise, he told me there wasn't any breading...just salmon and spices. I ordered the dish, and I am so glad I did. It was fabulous! This is why we love Nora ' s Table, and you will, too!

We walked by Nora's and liked the way it looked. We ate there the next night and were not disappointed. The stuffed squash blossom appetizer was delicious, our scallops and salmon main courses were cooked perfectly. We managed to have just enough room to split a piece of amazing chocolate place. Other reviewers noted that the meal takes awhile to arrive. This is true, but not inconsistent with other great restaurants.

It was the most fantastic place we have ever been. Everything was fantastic. I'm not much of a steak person. but that was the best I have ever had. And the scallops were to die for.
