Nora's Table is a chef-driven restaurant in Hood River, Oregon, known for its farm-to-table ethic, a menu that changes daily, and award-winning Gorge wine list.
The Oregonian newspaper gave the restaurant a rare A- and said "Nora's has turned the gorge from a geological statement into a cuisine." TripAdvisor rates it the Number One Hood River restaurant.
Hood River is the center of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic area, and Oregon's second best-known wine scene, after the Willamette Valley.
"Our menu is created almost entirely from the food shed around our iconic Mt. Hood. All our beef, lamb and pork come from our local ranches, and what our farmers bring us each day drives what goes on our menu," says chef and owner Kathy Watson. "Right down to our ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise, bread, pasta, crackers and pickles, it's all hand-made by our great crew. We love bringing the best of the Gorge to our plates."

  • "As I told Stu, the server/host/co-owner of Nora's Table, this is the best restaurant in Hood River. If we are looking for a place to eat, and we are not in the mood for one of the many great brew pubs in the area, this is where we always seem to end up. The breakfasts and dinners are wonderful. Locally sourced foods are used whenever possible, and used creatively by Kathy the chef and other half of this ownership couple. Not only is the food local, but so are the wines (and beers). The food is top notch, and so is the service. Stu always makes you feel at home, and the rest of the staff are always friendly, helpful, and seemingly happy to be at work. If you haven't been to Nora' table, you need to try this place."

We had a larger group (6) and did not feel rushed out but were allowed the time to enjoy our meal as well as our conversation - it was the perfect balance."

The other issues are minor, and should not detract from the delicious rib eye steak, the butterfish, and delicious scallops. Our server was kind and efficient. The restaurant is a bit loud, but that criticism reflects our age! We will go back in the future."

  • "We think Nora's Table is competitive with any restaurant in Oregon, including all the big name places in Portland. On a recent visit the food was wonderful, the service perfect, and the recommended wine delicious w/ what we had ordered and inexpensive. We both commented afterwards that it was one of the best restaurant meals we had had in a long time. If you have not been it is worth the drive from the Portland area (where we live). It is our go-to place in the Gorge/Hood River for a nicer meal. Get a reservation before hand (even if they don't appear busy on Open Table) as they appear to get quite a few walk-ins that will fill the place up in a hurry."

  • "A local at a wine tasting recommended this restaurant and we were not disappointed. Very fresh and were told that the menu changed frequently depending on what was locally available. Very fresh and uniquely favored. The freshness of the salad and and amazing flavors on the rib eye were amazing. When we visit Hood River again we will put this on our must visit list!"

  • "We chose this week's One Pot Wonder - Beef Bourguignon. The beef tip tenderness was inconsistent, but the carrots, mushrooms and pappardelle style noodles were excellent. All was gently combined with the beef reduction with a very pleasant, but slightly bland flavor. The portions were appropriate. A plain and simple side salad with a light vinaigrette dressing was served. A glass of Marchesi Barbera paired excellently with this meal. We shared desert of three small apple turnovers/pies, dusted with powdered sugar and a small scoop of salted caramel ice cream. Excellent! Our service was excellent as well. Overall, this meal was quite enjoyable. This was welcome, as prior visits have been less consistent experiences."

  • "The service is always good, the wine list has many good local offerings, and the food is wonderful. The seared scallops appetizer was superb, as was the Goan seafood curry. We each had a different salad, and both were very tasty. We try to eat at Nora's at least every other time we are in Hood River. Always a fun dining experience."

  • "So the place is delightfully easy and we actually had a lot of fun interacting with other dinners...mostly people excited to talk about what they had eaten or would eat. The service is very personal and friendly in that lovely uniquely Oregon way. The carmelized onion and mushroom soup was fabulous...full of flavor and a creamy texture neither of us expected. Other dishes - chicken tangine and ricotta dumplings were flavorful but not the knockout that the soup was. Dessert, a lemon cake, was disappointing. But other dinners loved the meat dish they had."

  • "We went for valentines day dinner and did not get disappointed. All of the wineries on both sides of the river gave them raving reviews and now we know why. Dinner was amazing, I had the lamb and my fiancée had the filet. It was so good we decided to travel back that way for brunch the next morning!"

  • "What we have always enjoyed at Nora's: great wine selection and pricing, creative and delicious food, friendly, courteous staff, feeling of intimate dining yet close to others depending where you are seated. It was Valentine's dinner; we had a lovely meal, altho portions small-- I had the grouper which was yummy and plentiful, but not enough vegetables. A shared delicious chocolate dessert was had. The bill came, it was paid, and the male owner came to our table,rudely said to us that we needed to leave because other people were waiting for our table. We were just about to leave anyway, but this rudeness spoiled the entire experience. We left after a 90 minute dinner; that should not be too long! Bad taste in my mouth still."

Customers have to the option to come in casual or dress it up beyond jeans if interested. In either case, the food was as good as the menu described."

  • "We haad two dishes with seafood, Calamari sopes and Seafood Curry, theses dishes met out need for gluten free and were so VERY good. The calamari was crispy and just right, the seafood curry was spicy and creamy and the fish , and shellfish were cooked to the right point. The only disappointment was no offerings for dessert that were gluten free this time. We will return for more yummy dishes."

  • "Friendly atmosphere and older kid friendly options for eating. Meal was OK. Kumquat salad could have used more greens to mellow out the citrus a bit and the beet salad was very different with allspice seasoning. Best option for our meal was the Punjabi taco - very interesting blend of lamb with chutney and raita, balanced well with good spice! The ricotta dumplings were a bit heavy on the butter, so it was good that my wife and daughter split that one."

  • "This Restaurant came up in conversation when we asked a group to name their favorite Portland Restaurant. One person said, "Actually, my favorite Portland restaurant is in Hood River. It's Nora's Table. It was lovely. The Calamari was dusted with rice flour and so delicate and it was garnished with a collection of wonderful tastes with a cilantro twist. My husband had to tell everyone we met for the next two days about his "pepper infused tamarind martini". Nice wine list too. Local sustainable focus too! Loved what you did with flavors. Genuine server made the experience all the more delightful, perfectly warm without being intrusive. She must really like you as an employer to drive from Portland to work."

  • "I enjoyed everything at Nora's table from the food (risotto + scallops = amazing), ambience and service (Stu was very welcoming and knowledgable, thank you Stu!). One item to note is the menu change. Prior to booking reservations, our party viewed the menu to ensure that the party could eat from the menu. Once we arrived, the menu was specific to NYE and had comprised of fish which was something that the party could not eat. To workaround this, folks who couldn't eat dishes with fish instead ordered salads and a few drinks. Outside of the menu change, the party enjoyed their dining experience. I would still recommend checking out Nora's table."

We were very impressed and the service was terrific, too. It wasn't very busy on a Sunday night but it should have been packed. If we're in the area again, we'll definitely go back."

  • "The food was delicious - the starter of Scallops had a rich, complex taste. The Italian bread sticks were perfect. The Goan seafood curry was extraordinary - perfect degree of spiciness which complemented the delicate taste of the seafood . (The server was kind enough to warn us about the 'bite' in the red peppers) . We had a bottle of local Pinot Gris which was a perfect accompaniment for the food. And, finally, the Orange Honey Creme Brûlée ! A perfect dessert to finish a wonderful meal."

  • "This was our second dinner at Nora's Table. The ambience is energetic & the service is friendly. We had the seared diver scallop dish, which was creative and delicious. The green bean curry was good, but the beans were a bit tough and it could have used more sauce. On our previous visit, we had the Goan seafood curry, which was outstanding. Nice spot."
