A word from Nora's Table
Nora's Table is a chef-driven restaurant in Hood River, Oregon, known for its farm-to-table ethic, a menu that changes daily, and award-winning Gorge wine list.
The Oregonian newspaper gave the restaurant a rare A- and said "Nora's has turned the gorge from a geological statement into a cuisine." TripAdvisor rates it the Number One Hood River restaurant.
Hood River is the center of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic area, and Oregon's second best-known wine scene, after the Willamette Valley.
"Our menu is created almost entirely from the food shed around our iconic Mt. Hood. All our beef, lamb and pork come from our local ranches, and what our farmers bring us each day drives what goes on our menu," says chef and owner Kathy Watson. "Right down to our ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise, bread, pasta, crackers and pickles, it's all hand-made by our great crew. We love bringing the best of the Gorge to our plates."

  • "Great Food, but no coordination between wait staff and kitchen. Our appetizers were served at different times, then our entrees were served while we were still eating our appetizers. They were returned to the kitchen, and "new" ones were brought out later. ? Sunday night an OFF night?"

  • "The focus on using locally-sourced ingredients helps this restaurant shine. The entrees have fairly small portions, but with interesting and complex flavors. The cocktails are unusually strong. Our server was able to talk about the food intelligently, and you can tell that the chef is very thoughtful in their recipe development process."

  • "I foodie's delight! The dishes here are unique, fresh, and taste like nothing else. Grab a reservation here; you won't regret it!"

  • "We ate here about 5 years ago and it was wonderful. We were very disappointed this time. My husband asked for his steak to be cooked blood rare and it came out well done. My lamb chops were tasteless and overcooked. Our friends lasagna was so hard he had to cut with a knife. We will not be going back to Nora's Table."

  • "I have never had a bad, or even a so-so, meal at Nora's. It has always been fabulous. Even their burgers are to die for delicious! My foodie friend was impressed."

  • "Thrilled to find this restaurant gem in Hood River. For years, I had been looking for the perfect place to dine there unsuccessfully. And I have finally found it. Great farm-to-table place with wonderful inventive dishes. Unusual tasty menu items, all as local as they can get them. I thought was dining in New York City again. Really! It was a little loud, but well worth it for the food. Definitely will be going back to Nora's Table."

  • "We have been visiting Hood River two or three times a years for the past two decades, and we are glad we finally gave this restaurant a try. I had the calamari salad and lamb chops. The flavors were unusual and delicious, and we enjoyed the informal atmosphere of the dining room. My only disappointment was an annoyingly skimpy pour of wine. We will definitely be back, but I won't order wine."

  • " Pleasantly surprised to find this hidden litle place. Very friendly and knowledgable service - thanks Joe - and a small menu that rotates based on local availability. Very creative offerings with spice and ingredient blends that went perfectly together. The ingredients were very fresh and very high quality. We'll be back."

  • "I had a unique seafood dish which was very good. The staff was attentive and did a nice job serving us. I would go back again if we in town in the future"

  • "Nora's Table is consistently the best dining experience in the Gorge. Though the menu is constantly changing, it always offers the most creative entrees and small plates, and a fine wine list."

  • "I took my husband there for his birthday. It was our first visit and I was hoping it would be memorable. I needn't have worried. Our server was excellent and I can't say enough about the excellent meal. I had steak and my husband had salmon and both dishes were perfect. We will definitely be returning in the near future."

  • "The food was awesome. The service was excellent! Thanks again Joe you saved my bacon, if you know what I mean. You went above and beyond the call of duty!"

  • "We have visited Nora's Table before and this visit did not disappoint. The food was terrific and we really enjoyed it. The decor is a bit sparse and the interior is noisy but we enjoyed our visit anyway. "

  • "On a packed Memorial Day evening, the food and service held to Nora's high standards, and then some. Scallops superb, and the spicy local greens with them and the calamari small plate yet another savoury variation on two of their signature plates"

  • "Nice, intimate dining with good wine recommendations to go with your meal. I had the lamb chops and my friend had the curried seafood and both were delicious. We shared the Lemon Creme broille which was awesome."

  • "We had the Calamari and Pork Belly for appetizers and they were fabulous For dinner we had the steak which we ordered med-rare and it came cooked med to med-well, and the curry which was fantastic. Our server was slow and not very attentive for such a small place and not busy at the time, we did see other waiters that were much more attentive to their tables. We will definitely go back and can't wait to try the breakfast, the menu looks amazing. "

  • "We drove down to Hood River for my birthday weekend. I booked dinner for the 2 of us . The worst food and little options for non-meat eaters. We finished our wine, paid our bill and went across the street to 3-Rivers. Run, don't walk folks."

  • "My husband and I went to Nora's Table on the suggestion from a friend from Portland. It was our anniversary, so I thought it would be a nice dinner out. We were not disappointed! Everything was perfect - from the wine to the service. The food was exceptional. Every bit of every morsel on the plate was exquisite! I am a hard-to-please food person and don't eat out much because of this reason. I had their lamb chops, which were just out of this world delicious! We are looking forward to our next visit. "

  • "One of our top 5 picks for Hood River. Nora's Table embodies what the Hood River community and lifestyle are like in restaurant form. Genuinely happy and caring staff, awesome fresh flavors of local ingredients, a fabulous local wine list, with a vibrant and warmly welcoming atmosphere. Delicious, inviting, and fun place dine!!!"

  • "We tried only one dish on our way through to Portland. The service was great, personal and informative - we felt welcome and comfortable. They source locally which we love and the wine we tried was great. The atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming. I eat gluten and dairy free and was easily accommodated here."

  • "A small restaurant in Hood River which has interesting menu items. We went back the second night in order to try the dishes we didn't get the first night. The pork belly pain perdu was excellent. Staff was very friendly and helpful."

  • "Nora's is one of the best in town. Like everything in Hood River, the weekends can get crowded. So, to make sure you enjoy the food and service, try the week days. The entree menu is not too extensive, but everything on it is excellent. The small plate selection is vared and great. Bob"

  • "Very nice dinner on a quiet Sunday night. My wife enjoyed her halibut while I enjoyed the lamb roast. The main dishes were outstanding, however, the sides were somehow lacking. Not exactly sure what was amiss but just slightly off."

  • "We love Nora's! It's a great place to take out-of-town guests or special times when we need a casual, but perfectly delicious and fun dining experience. The food is always creative and relies heavily on local, seasonal produce. It can get pretty busy on holiday weekends so be sure to make reservations! "

  • "I have visited Nora's Table four times, three dinners, and one breakfast. All meals were excellent, promptly delivered, hot, appealing to the eye. Their menu has new items each time I visited. I had a ribeye steak there that was as close to perfect as ever I have had one. I highly recommend having a meal there."

  • "Had a beet salad and the scallops (both appetizers). You know how it is if you find something SO GOOD, you want to have it over and over."

  • "As I told Stu, the server/host/co-owner of Nora's Table, this is the best restaurant in Hood River. If we are looking for a place to eat, and we are not in the mood for one of the many great brew pubs in the area, this is where we always seem to end up. The breakfasts and dinners are wonderful. Locally sourced foods are used whenever possible, and used creatively by Kathy the chef and other half of this ownership couple. Not only is the food local, but so are the wines (and beers). The food is top notch, and so is the service. Stu always makes you feel at home, and the rest of the staff are always friendly, helpful, and seemingly happy to be at work. If you haven't been to Nora' table, you need to try this place."

  • "I found this restaurant on Open Table and then checked reviews on Yelp. The food was excellent - there were comments on Yelp regarding the service but we found the service to be perfect. We had a larger group (6) and did not feel rushed out but were allowed the time to enjoy our meal as well as our conversation - it was the perfect balance."

  • "We enjoyed our food choices at Nora's. The service was very slow for a quiet evening. Most of the foods were fresh and locally sourced and these were very good. My fish was a dry and a bit overcooked. The desserts scored high marks."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed this wonderful restaurant. In the most important factor, the food, it is superb. The other issues are minor, and should not detract from the delicious rib eye steak, the butterfish, and delicious scallops. Our server was kind and efficient. The restaurant is a bit loud, but that criticism reflects our age! We will go back in the future."

  • "We think Nora's Table is competitive with any restaurant in Oregon, including all the big name places in Portland. On a recent visit the food was wonderful, the service perfect, and the recommended wine delicious w/ what we had ordered and inexpensive. We both commented afterwards that it was one of the best restaurant meals we had had in a long time. If you have not been it is worth the drive from the Portland area (where we live). It is our go-to place in the Gorge/Hood River for a nicer meal. Get a reservation before hand (even if they don't appear busy on Open Table) as they appear to get quite a few walk-ins that will fill the place up in a hurry."

  • "A local at a wine tasting recommended this restaurant and we were not disappointed. Very fresh and were told that the menu changed frequently depending on what was locally available. Very fresh and uniquely favored. The freshness of the salad and and amazing flavors on the rib eye were amazing. When we visit Hood River again we will put this on our must visit list!"

  • "We chose this week's One Pot Wonder - Beef Bourguignon. The beef tip tenderness was inconsistent, but the carrots, mushrooms and pappardelle style noodles were excellent. All was gently combined with the beef reduction with a very pleasant, but slightly bland flavor. The portions were appropriate. A plain and simple side salad with a light vinaigrette dressing was served. A glass of Marchesi Barbera paired excellently with this meal. We shared desert of three small apple turnovers/pies, dusted with powdered sugar and a small scoop of salted caramel ice cream. Excellent! Our service was excellent as well. Overall, this meal was quite enjoyable. This was welcome, as prior visits have been less consistent experiences."

  • "The service is always good, the wine list has many good local offerings, and the food is wonderful. The seared scallops appetizer was superb, as was the Goan seafood curry. We each had a different salad, and both were very tasty. We try to eat at Nora's at least every other time we are in Hood River. Always a fun dining experience."

  • "So the place is delightfully easy and we actually had a lot of fun interacting with other dinners...mostly people excited to talk about what they had eaten or would eat. The service is very personal and friendly in that lovely uniquely Oregon way. The carmelized onion and mushroom soup was fabulous...full of flavor and a creamy texture neither of us expected. Other dishes - chicken tangine and ricotta dumplings were flavorful but not the knockout that the soup was. Dessert, a lemon cake, was disappointing. But other dinners loved the meat dish they had."
