nopaLived up to high expectationsWe heard great things about this restaurant and we were very excited to be going there. After a mishap with our reservations, Dennis, the manager went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. The food was amazing and the atmosphere in the restaurant was lively and energetic. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and we will definitely be back.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect as AlwaysMy favorite restaurant in the world. And I'm a global nomad with high standards, so that's sayin' somethin'! I'm also a former employee and die-hard loyal, not just because their food and service is the best ever, but because they treat their employees like gold, and their community as a priority!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMmixologygreat drinks and very late hours ! the food is not equal to the drinks..The noise level is high but its a very fun energetic room alight with energy late into the night...6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA year since my last visitA year since my last visit and this is still one of my favorite late-night places in San Francisco. Boldly flavored, satisfying small plates are fun to share while trying a cocktail or five.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMA great meal! This was my first visit to Nopa and it was wonderful. We ordered a handful of items of the menu to share, they were all amazing. The server did a great job of timing them out so there was never too much food at once. I can't wait for my next visit, which I hope will be soon...6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMA Highlight of Our TripAs a person who centers a vacation around food, I found NOPA to be a highlight of our week-long trip. Reservations look like a must, especially for brunch, as the place was packed while we were there on an early Sunday afternoon. Had the house cured bacon, granola, grilled sausage dish and the custard french toast. WOW, the french toast was as amazing as all of the reviews say. It is incredibly rich on the inside, with a silky texture, crispy on the outside, and dripping with butter and blueberries on top. Simply delicious.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMNopa rocksEverything we ate was inventive and incredible. The place was packed with food-loving happy people even at 11 pm on a Wednesday. Can't wait to go back!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMVisiting from Louisiana -Visiting from Louisiana - enjoyed a wonderful meal here with family and friends. After sampling a number of great dishes, the pork chop was my hands down favorite. Great ambiance with large windows and open space dining.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat locationDining at Nopa's is a really nice experience: excellent food, moderate prices, very nice service. I would recommend it to everybody who likes a special place!6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat athmosphere and good foodI really enjoyed my dinner at NOPA. The staff were really nice and welcoming. The sommelier suggested that I first try the rose wine I ordered, since I might not like it, a very nice touch. The bar was also nice and lively and we were waited on really quickly by the bartender. The appetizer of grilled bread with veggies was really good. I had salmon as the main course, it was good, but not spectaculair. If I would live in SFO I would definitely return.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic as usual!NOPA never disappoints and this time was no different. Still one of my favorite spots in SF.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMoverall great experiencewe decided to try nopa for all great, local, organic proveyors and couldn't have been happier with the clean tasting flavourful dishes! as a group of 4 we ended up just doing small plates because there are so many great ones to try and are glad we went that route. the entrees looked amazing too but this way we got to try more and enjoy w the delicious cocktails.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful placeGreat food, very good service, and the room has energy.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat brunch spot.Good food. Service was slow because place was packed, but we were not in a rush. Don't forget to order the custard french toast. From the bar the bloody mary and orange cocktail were both excellent. I would go again for brunch when I'm back in the area.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing! The food was incredible. I got the salmon and my boyfriend got the burger. Both were incredible. Our server Ryan walked us through the menu with great recommendations. The drinks were PHENOMENAL. Awesome ambience. Loved it!!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for 7We went there with a party of 7, got seated around the time we reserved, and had a great dinner. Waiters were patient and kind to our (messy!) group! Nopa is great, as always.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMJust delicious!!!Loved everything!!! Restaurant is warm, waiter was very friendly and helpful. Has the duck leg (they ran out of breasts) and it was the best duck I've ever had in my life!!! The broccoli that came with the duck was perfectly cooked, also ordered a cauliflower with gruyere cheese and was sooo good. Had the cheesecake as dessert and it was very good also. They have a good variety of wines to choose. Can't wait to go back!!!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways FabulousMy favorite restaurant....everything is perfection....drinks, food....5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMA Must Try....We received a gift certificate to try this place. I was grateful too because I never would have gone if not for the cert. We ordered the gem salad, was simple nothing too fancy, but tasted great. Then we had the french bread with avacado and although it didn't come exactly as described on the menu, it was outstanding. Their bread was amazing! Next I had the burger - added cheese, avacado, and bacon. I ordered it medium, but it came on the rare side. The waiter was pro active and noticed it and took it back to the kitchen to be cooked longer. I shouldn't have done that because when it came back it was dried out and the bacon was too hard, but it was still a great burger. I'd go back :-)5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMamazing brunchWe had come to Nopa for dinner and thought it was good, but really nothing to write home about. After coming here for brunch this past weekend, I have changed my tune. The brunch was absolutely DELICIOUS and definitely worth coming back for.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat space, our reservationGreat space, our reservation time was honored and cheerfully, loved our table upstairs looking out over the restaurant and kitchen. Great service from a variety of different waitstaff. Delicious food, all fresh and sustainable (per our server). Our server was great except she didn't recognize another patron's dish, which I later wished I'd been able to order had I known what it was, and she wasn't very accepting of my desire to have a few appetizers rather than a main entree; again, a decision I wish I'd followed. Live and learn; we'll definitely be back to try it again.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMHigh Expectations Easily MetWe are never disappointed at Nopa. This was our first time for brunch (an early Mother's day) and it was fantastic. So delicious! And even our two boys (10, 12) loved it.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe Will Be BackNOPA has been on our 'To Do' list for quite some time and finally made a trip up to the City from the Peninsula to have dinner with out-of-town friends. We made our dinner reservation one month ahead as recommended by many reviews. Dress is casual and bar scene is vibrant. All four of us agreed that it was one of the top meals we have ever enjoyed. Two had the salmon which they said was excellent in both flavor and texture as well as being cooked to perfection. My friend and I both enjoyed the duck with cherry sauce and greatly enjoyed every delicious bite. We all shared the special appetizer of ribs which were fall off the bone tender. Service cold have been a bit more attentive. We were not offered bread and had to ask for it.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNOPA- no missNOPA was excellent. Upon arrival we were welcomed warmly, server gave excellent advoce about wine and food choices. Selections were interesting combinations, served attractively and the meal was paced well. We enjoyed everything about the evening- especailly the posaildilos for dessert!!! Only probelm is parking. It was hard to park in that area. We should have walked ot taken public transportation.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first time here and atOur first time here and at 6:30 Sat night, busy as expected but still open tables to be found unless they were reserved. Bar scene was active and crowd not as young as expected. Mixed group of people, comfortable, nice feel to place, open ceilings. Service pleasant and bustling. Portions very adequate for a ni-ce place. Don't expect belly busting, but I did have to take my pork chop home. The halibut was gone. Next time I want to try the lamb, looked good at neighbors table. Parking not great here.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMNOPA schmopaI HATE the name of this place so much I refused to go for years. Fantastic. Now that the Western Addition is full of whitebread hipsters I don't care what you all it, just call me if you're going here.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMDifficult to get into butDifficult to get into but definitely worth the effort. The food was delicious and varied and the wait staff was attentive, friendly and helpful.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe wait staff is friendlyThe wait staff is friendly and attentive. This is a great place for a special occassion, business dinner or after work snack and cocktails. While the atmosphere is stylish it is not snobby and the staff is refreshingly down to earth while still having a unique hip appearance. For a full meal it is on the pricey side but if you want a little treat sit at the bar and have a smaller dish or dessert. I can't speak to a normal dinner party but I was there for a special event and we spent about three hours at our table. Not once did we feel rushed. I for one enjoy a long sit down dinner and find these days even pricey restaurants are trying to rush you out the door.
You can do plenty of people watching and try out some unique dishes. Enjoy!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMNopa does it allWhat can I possible add to what hasn't already been said about Nopa. Clearly a top "SF restaurant" that does it all and does it all very well. Hip, cool, yet comfortable enough for out of towners and older folks who want a good meal to not feel out of place. I love that the place stays open late and have found it to be regularly packed after11pm on weekends. Cocktails are superb and wine list is top notch. The Nopa bartenders are second to none - hands down - in how well they handle the demanding crowd dining at the bar or those waiting for a table. The servers can at times be a bit uneven or erratic. This place shows no signs of slowing down or resting on its laurels - my guess is it will be around for a long time. Lucky us!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and service! My girlfriend and I had a wonderful meal here and the wait staff were well informed and helpful. The place is very popular and packed even on a Wednesday night. The food is definitely worth the effort and the kitchen accommodated our dietary needs with any fuss. The roast chicken was the best I've ever had.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMA gem of a restaurantThis was a wonderful place to eat. The atmosphere was lively and the staff was extremely friendly. The food was fresh and very good. The kale salad was the best I have ever eaten. It is something not to be missed when in this area. I will definitely be back when in town. The restaurant was welcoming and a good space to be in.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved dining at Nopa! As goodLoved dining at Nopa! As good as everyone said it would be! I never realized how close it was to my house. Just a 10 minute walk so I will be sure to come in for drinks. The cocktail list was fun and different. My boyfriend and I came in with another couple and we shared a few appetizers and two main courses since we could not decide. Pork chop and burger were by far the best I have ever had!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFun cocktails, great food,Fun cocktails, great food, super-friendly service.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe bestI think this might just be my favorite SF dinner spot. We shared a few dishes and enjoyed every bite of each one! Great night out at NOPA!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been going to NopaWe have been going to Nopa regularly for years and will continue. We shared the flat bread and the the smoked trout salad - they were both crazy amazing yummy. The rabbit legs was good, but not really special(to us).4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMMany high end restaurantsMany high end restaurants rely on a certain amount of novelty for their appeal; they bring you new experiences, and novel combinations of flavors. That's great, but it's not what Nopa does; they rely on being very very good instead.
Everything I had at Nopa was quite straightforward, but flawlessly executed. Actually, I take that back; my drink was quite complex and not what I expected, though also very good. Clearly I'll have to try more things, but based on what I've seen so far, they can do no wrong.
The service was extremely good, the balcony area quite pretty and not too noisy.
We'll definitely be back.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMNopa has a beautiful, large,Nopa has a beautiful, large, sunlit, high-ceiling room with a long bar, tables, booths and balcony seating. We went for the first time for a crowded Easter Sunday brunch not knowing what to expect. The service and food lived up to their strong local reputation. We were seated exactly on time. The specialty cocktails were tasty, and the grilled multi-grain bread with fig jam was great. On that day, it was a high-energy room but we didn't feel crowded or rushed. They have a large communal table in the main dining area. Definitely on my "next time in SF" list for dinner.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful neighborhood dining,Wonderful neighborhood dining, with great service and atmosphere. Highly recommend the weekend brunch. Don't miss the fabulous french toast!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food, okay atmosphereWent for my husband's birthday, with a late night reservation, since we were visiting post-ballet. Absolutely loved the food and wine, didn't enjoy the upstairs seating. Felt isolated and the service was a bit off. Not their fault, of course, since they are very popular and need to seat as many as they can, but that upstairs venue just isn't as special as dining in the main area... Will definitely return with this in mind.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's a mustOutstanding food and service! Make reservations early because its always full!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious and unique food.Delicious and unique food. We also loved the cocktails. Reasonably priced. Definitely try the tagine!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall dining there was aOverall dining there was a very nice experience. We came at the beginning of the "rush hour" and had a very nice table upstairs with a view of the bar scene and the kitchen. It was not too noisy to have a conversation. I had a very nice glss of wine and my husband had a few interesting beers. The appetizer of sliced halibut was outstanding. I had a black cod, which was excellent, but the bed of lentils with bacon was salty, and altogether a puzzling choice for the delicate black cod. In my opinion, it would be more suitable with a more hearty meat course. The entree of leg of lamb was good but the meat was a bit chewy, not delicate. The dessert of lemon tart was quite good, and delivered with a birthday candle, as requested.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMRecommend the flatbread andRecommend the flatbread and the chicken main. Although it was all delicious!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat late night findWas able to get a reservation after catching a concert at the Bill Graham Civic Center, was quickly seated and ordered the pork chop, unbelievable. Highly recommend ordering it, but tempted to try many other things on their menu, in particular the flat breads which I heard about from the Food Network's "Best thing I ever ate." We will definitely be back!3/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous my guests loved it...Fabulous my guests loved it... and I do too :0)!!!3/7/2013 12:00:00 AMNOPA is hands down the bestNOPA is hands down the best overall dining experience in Caliornia. The staff, service & Drinks are excellent. Great for friends, clients , and family! Highly recommend !!!2/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
