A great mix of casual and special occasion - if you don't get a reservation, try coming before 6pm and wait for spots to open up at the communal table. Also a great cocktail/bar place to have a drink and some snacks.

Was really looking forward to dining here with my wife, came away underwhelmed. Combine 30 minutes of circling around the block for parking, inattentive servers, and average food (the highly rated pork chops were rather dry!).

Nopa was the highlight of our trip! The Grassfed Hamburgers were incredible! The service was impeccable and our server stayed and talked at our table as if we were his only table. They were extremely accommodating to my dairy allergy. The bar drinks were out of this world and creative! I had the pear. Highly recommended...any drink is great! The rotisserie chicken tasted like an herb garden. Beware of the calamari...it is basically the squid cut in half, but it was exquisite!

Looking forward to coming here. Starters were very good. The flatbread and the baked beans and feta were great. Things came apart a little for the main course. Rotisserie chicken huge portion and a little dry. Didn't need the side order of fries which were great with the basil mayo but wish the server had said portion sizes were quite big. The burger seemed A bit on the dry side. Loved the server (Kim) very warm and informative and loved The space. But was disappointed overall. Foreign cinema was much better the previous night

I've been here for brunch multiple times, and each time it's been great. First things first, always make a reservation if you want to get in for sure for brunch. You can walk in and try to get onto the communal table, but it's a tough ask. Each time I've gone for brunch I've tried different things, but my favorite things have always been the pork and French toast. Both are very rich in flavor, and easy to share with another person. Never had a complaint about any of the other brunch menu items. Service has always been good. I've sat upstairs, downstairs, and at the communal table. and it's been great in all spots.

Four of us shared small plates, entrees, & desserts. We agreed that every plate was exceptional. My husband ordered a Mescal drink which was just too overwhelmingly smoky-tasting & they replaced it with a delicious Margarita for no extra charge & willingly. We were seated upstairs & it was very warm on a cool evening so I would request the main floor in the future. Even though it is a challenge to get into this restaurant, it is worth the effort.

This is the second time we have enjoyed NOPA for brunch. All dishes and drinks were inventive well prepared. Service was very attentive, pleasant and informative. Diners in our party on this occasion were mixed generations and all were impressed. We shared a large custard french toast for a "died and gone to heaven" moment. Savory dishes were also good with many delicious, perfectly-cooked summer vegetables. Staff are challenged by tight quarters in the dining room, but somehow once seated the diners feel that they have enough privacy to enjoy themselves. Floor management was nearly "queen's high table." I had never before had a manager approach and fold a napkin left by a diner who had excused himself momentarily from the table.

We always like going to NOPA, but I'm still not sure exactly why. Ambience is great, service is always good, food is good, but nothing is overwhelmingly amazing. And it's really hard to get a reservation that's not at 10pm. I think it's just a fun place to go that always delivers what is expected - nothing more, nothing less - I'm sure we'll be back.

It's my fault for nurturing such high expectations, but I wasn't blown away by the food. That said, nopa is a very trendy and delightful restaurant. Service and all employees are absolutely wonderful and the crowds that dine here seem very cultured and polite. Food is indeed prepared in a unique way, and presentation is gorgeous. However, majority of the dishes we ordered were over-salted (I love salt and bold flavors but found myself extremely thirsty throughout the meal). The popular broccoli side had a strange bitter aftertaste the crudo could use some sprinkling of lemon, but the burger was very delicious! I personally enjoyed the (yummy) bun to patty ratio and the fries that came with it were crisp. Drinks are concocted beautifully!

Good food, amazing ambiance. Nice service, we were late for our reservation but they didn't mind at all and quickly arranged our table. Our appetizer and desert were really good, but I didn't mind too much for my dish (I had the salmon). Some tables can be too close to another.

Six of us plus our 2 yo granddaughter went for dinner to celebrate her birthday and her daddy's birthday with two sets of grandparents. We ordered almost every appetizer, lots of wine, main courses and desserts. Although we spent as much as an airline ticket from Phil {where we're from} to Ca, it was a most enjoyable and memorable experience and worth every cent! Every morsel was delicious!! We'll go again for another special occasion!! It was special!! Our waiter was fantastic!!

I made a late night reservation for myself and my boyfriend. I had heard from others that the entrees were not as great as the appetizers. We ended up ordering 4 appetizers and an entree to split between the two of us. We were not disappointed in the slightest. We also ordered a bottle of wine that the server was able to recommend and wasn't astronomically priced. After we finished our meal we ordered dessert which was decent. We probably would have ordered something different if we weren't so full! We ended up spending 3 hours at the restaurant and never felt rushed by the servers but really wanted to take our time and enjoy the meal. The portions were bigger than expected, it was great. I will be going back for the next special occasion

With a group of 8 we fairly well toured the whole menu. Friendly and proficient service. All dishes were transparently well-sourced, thoughtfully conceived, and deftly prepared. Standouts amongst the crowd were the tomato salad w chickpeas, fried anchovies, king salmon, and impossibly light and airy sopapillas. Top notch beverage program and an intelligent wine list appreciated by a large and energetic bar crowd. Would eagerly return.

    Dined on 8/2/2014
I enjoyed the food and so did my guests, but really, a corkage fee of $20 even though we also purchased two of your bottles of wine? So...until that moment I enjoyed the evening. I asked our server, and she replied it is the "establishment's policy." Fortunately, there are other wonderful restaurants in town who don't feel the need to ask for corkage especially when also buying a wine or two from the wine list. I liked the flavors of the food but the snobby young man at the entrance desk and the corkage fee will probably keep me from returning, since I had to wait a full 30 days for the honor anyway. This was my second time going to NOPA for dinner and I was not impressed. They made us wait 15 minutes past our 8:15 reservation. Once we were finally seated it was upstairs above the kitchen, it was hot and smelled. We ordered a few appetizers and for entrees the pappardelle rabbit, burger, and roasted chicken, the rabbit was by far the best. We ended up spending $120 per couple, for the money I can get a better meal at Range, Frances, and Lolinda to just name a few. Maybe third times a charm, but I won't be finding out anytime soon.

Have been wanted to come here for dinner for a while, had been for brunch twice & loved it. Its a hard place to get reservations at before 11pm on weekends, so booked it 6 weeks out. The service was very slow, took an hour from entree order to delivery. The appys were tasty, we had the flatbread, & the fresh tomato dish, but the entrees were just...mediocre at best. My husband had the salmon - small portion & bland. I had the lamb, on the servers recs as she described it as "lovely tonight" - must have been the presentation she was talking about, the meat was very chewy & again flavorless & I eat lamb a lot in SF. Other had the pork chop (overcooked) & chicken, again average. Will stick to brunch & burgerss. thats what Nopa does best.

My fiancé and I have dined at Nopa multiple times. We enjoyed everything we ordered. We started with a glass of wine and a beer then had a bottle of Barbaresco. Both went well with what we ordered. Our server however was missing half the time, we had to order our wine from a different server. It took a while in the beginning for our server to greet us which was frustrating since we were so hungry and thirsty coming from a show. But as soon as we received what we ordered, everything just came together again. We love the atmosphere here and the food. I just wish service was a bit more attentive in the beginning.
