Diner Reviews
  • "The eggplant sandwich is always delicious. Delightful to eat outside. Having to use blankets as an option if cold out is very nice. Love that the chef comes out always to say hello, nice personal touch."

  • "We have eaten here for a weekend breakfast and for dinner. We are always very satisfied. It's a very nice place with very nice service and very nice food."

  • "Nonni's is a gem of a downtown Pleasanton restuarant. The owner/chief is quite friendly and believe he is from Iceland. Food is creative without being over the top and the wine list features many local Livermore valley bottles....which is nice to see. Ambience is cozy and comfortable and our guests and first timers really loved the place. Owners son waited our table. Nice kid."

  • "A platter of Danish style appetizers was wonderful and my mussels and frites outstanding. Highly recommended."

  • "Second time we ate here and it was just as good as before. Nice selection on menu. Well prepared and good presentation. Excellent service. Get a table by the window. Mussels were great with fries. Short ribs with mashed potatoes had excellent taste. Fresh swordfish well prepared on bed of mixed couscous."

  • "What a little gem! Def. worth the drive to Pleasantant (sp.). Delish food and great service."

  • "Took the family including the in-laws, my dad, my sister, wife and kids to brunch on Father's Day. Food was good. Service seemed unprepared for the rush of the day. The menu did not include kids items. Strange since it was Father's Day."

  • "The first time we went it was spot on. The second time the food was semi-cold. The noise level was very high."
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "We split the house salad with the basil vinaigrette which was very good. My wife got the steak and frites which was also really good. I got the duck with barley risotto. The flavors were really good but it was to much sauce. It almost looked like a stew. Overall very good and I would go back"

  • "Had dinner for the first time at Nonni's on Friday. While the Goat Cheese Crepe was very nice, and I enjoyed the short ribs, my wife found the duck to be absoluely amazing. It was moist, tender, and delicious. The wine list, while not exensive, has some very nice local wines. A restaurant to return to."

  • "Great food! My mom thought it was the best salad she has ever had. I had the goat cheese crepe which was yummy! Waiter was extremely nice and courteous . Loved the window table we had."

  • "What can I say, the food was great and the service was impeccable. As the saying goes, keep it simple and people keeps on coming back"

  • "We had friendly and attentive service and the food was different, healthy (fresh fish and barley risotto) and delicious. The food presentation was appealing and the amount just enough and the continental-style ambiance suited us perfectly. It was our anniversary dinner,we sat outside; I had a good glass of summer rose and my husband had an imported beer from Iceland. We also agreed that the price was reasonable for downtown Pleasanton dining. This is our fourth time there and it is becoming our favorite downtown dining spot. "

  • "Nonni's is my favorite place to meet my girlfriends for brunch, lunch or dinner! The service and food is OUTSTANDING! "

  • "Whenever we're in Pleasanton, I try to make sure we stop by Nonni's for a meal. The chef works hard at creating great food and a nice setting in which to eat. Two thumbs up!"

  • "If you do visit this restaurant. try the Salmon. my husband said it was good. I had the Acorn squash. or maybe i should day i had a plate of barley with a little bit of squash. once the waiter took our order we did not see him again until he gave us the bill. He did ask how the food was I told him it was just ok his comment was oh and did not want to know why/what the issue was. He just quickly left the table. "

  • "I had been introduced to Nonni's by a client who frequents the restaurant. I was so impressed with the freshness of the ingredients and the friendly service. I decided to order The Club and it was amazing! Roasted turkey, crispy THICK bacon, ripe avocados, cheese, tomato, lettuce served on a fresh rosemary ciabatta roll. Along with the sandwich you have the choice of fries, a cup of soup, salad or caesar salad. I love soup and have ordered the mushroom soup and the spring vegetable soup and they were both delicious. If they are ever on the menu, do yourself a favor and order a big bowl of it. I wished I had! Restaurant is cute with nice touches like fresh flowers and a decanter of water with slices of orange at your table. Great find!"

  • "6 girls met for a brunch at this restaurant. The place is quite small, and sitting is tight. The restaurant itself was very loud during the peak. The food was good. The food server forgot to bring the cake at the end, and only remembered after a few eye twitches and refusal to look at the dessert menu. I think the food server was fairly new, as he seemed a bit overwhelmed. My credit card got charged twice. I'm currently disputing the second charge. "

  • "First visit to Nonni's but won't be the last. I was fortunate to get reservations Easter Sunday on extremely short notice and find parking right in front of the restaurant. There was plenty to choose from on the menu as well as Easter specials. Everything from the appetizers to the entrees was deliciously prepared and beautifully presented. Our server was a bit distracted but it was Easter after all. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed. Enjoyed not being rushed through our meal."

  • "Nonni's does it again! Thank you for a lovely and delicious Mother's Day dinner! "

  • "We had a table for 6 in this small venue and were skeptical of upcoming service due to how busy it was. We were pleasantly surprised by our waiter being there immediately, offering drinks and tips on the menus. The bottomless mimosas were a hit, as were the awesome choices for brunch. Corned Beef Benedict was a treet, as were the traditional ones. Few restaurants serve bangers for breakfast, but Nonni's features them. Perfect for our English lady of the day! Highly recommend this "sleeper" for great food and service!"

  • "I took my mom here with a few of our family for a Mother's Day breakfast, the food was great, mimosa's were excellent, they bring kids a big piece of paper and crayons for coloring but they definitely needed more servers. We had to get up from our table a few times to get help, otherwise we loved it and would recommend it! "

  • "Pleasanton is lucky to have so many good spots that Nonni's might get missed. While considering going to the same place yet again, give this a try instead. Generous portions of well-crafted food make them a true player in this culinary ocean and you won't be disappointed. My friend had a steak salad that was deliciously created, the steak cooked to her specifications. I had a salmon BLT in which the salmon was perfectly prepared, the dressing on the sandwich delicious, the toasted bun a great note and the accompanying fries a perfect accompaniment. You can also choose a salad or soup instead. Drink selections are good. Save time to park - it's not easy in this area."

  • "I had been given rave reviews about the food... very disappointed...will try again though. The blue cheese dressing for the salad was like fluff...no taste...However, the service and ambience were outstanding...and 'we' requested and got a nice quiet spot...had lots of work to do. I thought the pricing was ok too. Bottom line: since this was my first time there...I will try again."

  • "Great all around experience. Simply a wonderful menu and really nice people. Local home town feel with the excellence to rival the establishments with celebrity chefs!"

  • "My friend Mary invited me to lunch at Nonni's Bistro...I loved it! We sat outside, it was early November and it was lovely! Private enough for a personal conversation if you sit on the west side of the building. Attentive and knowledgeable service but not overbearing. I had the barley risotto w/ seafood and we shared the Chocolate Pot au Creme. THUMBS UP! I returned w/ a client...again THUMBS UP...I bought a gift certificate for my business partner, he went w/ his bride...again THUMBS UP...I returned w/ my beloved for dinner...again THUMBS UP! Food is lovingly prepared by the Chef, he has a light touch w/ herbs/spices and a lovely and creative interest in bringing out the best in the fresh ingredients. My new fav! I like the service too."

  • "I've been here twice for Sunday brunch and have enjoyed it immensely both times. The food is great and lots of great vegetarian options."

  • "Lovely brunch spot - inside and out. Service is very friendly, but needs just a bit of refining when the restaurant gets busy. A great addition to the downtown dining options; very nice brunch, lunch and dinner menu."

  • "I always enjoy it when the owner visits with his guests as it shows he cares about the food and service he is providing."

  • "The food was nicely prepared and presented. Good menu choices. I like the amount of outdoor seating and the indoor seating with windows open to the outside. I will definitely go back. I do however, think the noise was too high. Hard to carry on a conversation."

  • "Loved every bite. True European dishes full of flavor. We really enjoyed "The Thor" appetizer consisting of herring, smoked salmon and liver pate. Very fresh, flavorful and light. It reminded me of a wonderful meal I had on a recent visit to Sweden. Can't wait to order it again!"

  • "I went to Nonni's with a group of 6 women for a birthday lunch. We had a great time. One of us ordered a house salad with grilled salmon which was very good. One ordered the charbroiled eggs which she enjoyed. The rest of us had the Scandanavian Benedict with smoked salmon and a side of fresh fruit which was excellent. The food was yummy and we love the ambience and the attention from the server and the chef/owner who comes out and talks with diners. Several ladies had the bottomless mimosas. What a fun brunch."

  • "My friend and I went here for Sunday brunch and loved it. We made a reservation at 1 o'clock, so we didn't really have to wait a long time to get our table. The space is quite small, so it was a bit noisy but it wasn't that bad. The Scandinavian (smoked salmon) benedict and smoked salmon omelette were so delicious."
    Dined on 3/23/2014
  • "The noise level was huge and not a good place for seniors. The tables were cramed together. The food was so so. 2 of my friends had the Blintzs and raved about them. The eggs benedict was dry and the eggs over cooked. The muffin was tough as though it has be microwaved vs. toasted and the canadian bacon very salty and tough again probably due to microwave. It did not live up to the top review for downtown Pleasanton. Would not go back or recommend to anyone."

  • "Been for dinner twice and breakfast once. Dinner was ok, REALLY hot in the small restaurant and a bit pricey. But breakfast/brunch was wonderful! There aren't many nice restaurants for breakfast in Pleasanton so this was a nice place to meet a client."

  • "I've dined at Nonni's a variety of times. From a girls night out , celebrating birthdays/anniversary's to Sunday brunch - they do not disappoint! Great food from moist and flavorful duck to a veggie dish highlighting acorn squash and barley - and a nice wine list to pair with your meal. Dessert is lovely, too. They also offer wonderful touches such as fresh warm rolls upon arrival, and for evening dining on the patio blankets are provided, in addition to heaters which keep the chill away! I would recommend reservations as they are popular and seating is somewhat limited."

  • "Been here a few times now and it's always great! This visit was for a birthday lunch on a Sunday and while we both had "lunch" food, we kept our eyes on the brunch plates going by as they were being served and they all looked good. Our food was excellent, including accommodating my sister's gluten-free diet. The soup of the day was a sweet potato soup that was amazing! I was going to have a salad but when I heard about that soup, I had to have it and so glad I did. Nonni's Bistro is always fun and just a feel-good kind of atmosphere. With the warm day, they had the large front windows open that look out onto the outdoor tables and Main street, bringing in a bit of an open-air feel. Love this restaurant and look forward to coming again!"

  • "We were pleasantly surprised to find this gem on Main Street Pleasanton. We were looking for a nice dinner out on a week night and this fit the bill perfectly. I had the house special of the day - flat iron steak on a bed of arugula and beans - and my husband had the duck. Both were absolutely delicious. I was also very happy with the local wine recommended by our waiter. We'll definitely be back here again!"
