  • "The food was nicely prepared and presented. Good menu choices. I like the amount of outdoor seating and the indoor seating with windows open to the outside. I will definitely go back. I do however, think the noise was too high. Hard to carry on a conversation."

  • "Loved every bite. True European dishes full of flavor. We really enjoyed "The Thor" appetizer consisting of herring, smoked salmon and liver pate. Very fresh, flavorful and light. It reminded me of a wonderful meal I had on a recent visit to Sweden. Can't wait to order it again!"

  • "I went to Nonni's with a group of 6 women for a birthday lunch. We had a great time. One of us ordered a house salad with grilled salmon which was very good. One ordered the charbroiled eggs which she enjoyed. The rest of us had the Scandanavian Benedict with smoked salmon and a side of fresh fruit which was excellent. The food was yummy and we love the ambience and the attention from the server and the chef/owner who comes out and talks with diners. Several ladies had the bottomless mimosas. What a fun brunch."

  • "My friend and I went here for Sunday brunch and loved it. We made a reservation at 1 o'clock, so we didn't really have to wait a long time to get our table. The space is quite small, so it was a bit noisy but it wasn't that bad. The Scandinavian (smoked salmon) benedict and smoked salmon omelette were so delicious."

  • "The noise level was huge and not a good place for seniors. The tables were cramed together. The food was so so. 2 of my friends had the Blintzs and raved about them. The eggs benedict was dry and the eggs over cooked. The muffin was tough as though it has be microwaved vs. toasted and the canadian bacon very salty and tough again probably due to microwave. It did not live up to the top review for downtown Pleasanton. Would not go back or recommend to anyone."

  • "Been for dinner twice and breakfast once. Dinner was ok, REALLY hot in the small restaurant and a bit pricey. But breakfast/brunch was wonderful! There aren't many nice restaurants for breakfast in Pleasanton so this was a nice place to meet a client."

  • "I've dined at Nonni's a variety of times. From a girls night out , celebrating birthdays/anniversary's to Sunday brunch - they do not disappoint! Great food from moist and flavorful duck to a veggie dish highlighting acorn squash and barley - and a nice wine list to pair with your meal. Dessert is lovely, too. They also offer wonderful touches such as fresh warm rolls upon arrival, and for evening dining on the patio blankets are provided, in addition to heaters which keep the chill away! I would recommend reservations as they are popular and seating is somewhat limited."

  • "Been here a few times now and it's always great! This visit was for a birthday lunch on a Sunday and while we both had "lunch" food, we kept our eyes on the brunch plates going by as they were being served and they all looked good. Our food was excellent, including accommodating my sister's gluten-free diet. The soup of the day was a sweet potato soup that was amazing! I was going to have a salad but when I heard about that soup, I had to have it and so glad I did. Nonni's Bistro is always fun and just a feel-good kind of atmosphere. With the warm day, they had the large front windows open that look out onto the outdoor tables and Main street, bringing in a bit of an open-air feel. Love this restaurant and look forward to coming again!"

  • "We were pleasantly surprised to find this gem on Main Street Pleasanton. We were looking for a nice dinner out on a week night and this fit the bill perfectly. I had the house special of the day - flat iron steak on a bed of arugula and beans - and my husband had the duck. Both were absolutely delicious. I was also very happy with the local wine recommended by our waiter. We'll definitely be back here again!"

  • "Very unique and intetesting menu. Everything had great flavor and the service was very attentive. This was my 5th visit and I have never been disappointed!!"

  • "Really great little place right on Main Street in Pleasanton. Perfect for a stroll afterwards. Parking was easy, the food was delightful and the service was warm and friendly. We hunkered our "night out" around Nonni's and it did not disappoint. We will return soon :)"

  • "The location was perfect, the staff was nice, atmosphere and decor were charming, our reservations were honored, and getting together with a small group of friends was wonderful. I selected Nonni's based on several online reviews. As for the food... it was forgettable, each of us in the party ordered different items from the menu, two had brunch and two had a traditional lunch. None of us ate more than one-third of our meal. I had the mussels, very over steamed, nothing less appetizing than an over-cooked mussel dish lacking in flavor. Another had soup & salad; the salad looked like it came from the bin at the grocery store, just mixed field greens with a little shaved cheese on top. Suggestion, pick another spot to dine. ."

  • "I've driven along Main Street in Pleasanton so many times and only after a client suggested we dine here did I finally learn about this hidden gem. The freshest of ingredients, the tastiest of dishes, friendly wait staff. You can't go wrong with any of the choices. I've only been here for lunch and have had their daily soup, salads, sandwiches, burgers, mussels & frites, desserts. Since then, I've introduced two other sets of friends here and they are eager to return. Any time someone now says "You decide", my choice is Nonni's Bistro!"

  • "My wife and I had dinner at this restaurant on 2/22/14 in celebration of our 6th wedding anniversary. My wife had the special and I had the wild mushroom ravioli with squash and golden beet soup for her and classic french onion for me. The soups were spot on with the addition of a smoked crouton adding a little something extra to the french onion soup. Both main dishes were wonderful - the special had the salmon and muscles cooked perfectly with the shrimp just a little overdone but the dish was tasty none the less. The mushroom ravioli I had were quite tasty. Waiters were attentive, though seemed a little rushed early in our dining session. For dessert's we had were fantastic as well. This will be a spot we return to."

  • "You are guaranteed a good meal with great service at this local spot in Pleasanton. We have been eating here since the last couple of years and it is consistently excellent. Their food is made with quality ingredients and the portions are pretty satisfying. Their house smoked salmon is yummo! We had a reservation for 5 but our group ended up being 6 and they were more than helpful in getting us set up as quickly as they could. We will always come back here and why not when the food is delish, the service good and the ambiance lively!"

  • "It was my first time in Nonni's. When making reservation, I have noted that one lady will come with a baby. They gave us the best table by a window. I have ordered botomless mimosa and Eggs Benedict. Mimosa was perfect, the right combination of wine and orange juice not like in other restaurants when there is almost no wine. Food portions are huge! I loved my Eggs Benedict. The service was great. Any wish we had was propmptly fulfilled. Will definitely be back!"

  • "One of my favorite restaurants in Pleasanton! Wonderful atmosphere, excellent food, attentive service. The owner and head chef, Jan, calls on his Icelandic roots to create wonderful dishes. The acorn squash stuffed with seasonal vegetables was magnificent. I've eaten at Nonni's a lot - breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I've never been disappointed. We have some wonderful restaurants in Pleasanton, but Nonni's is my favorite."

  • "Can't say enough about our experience, the food was so good. You have to have the smoked Salmon appetizer. It's outstanding. Our Entree was the "special" and it certainly was special as was the dessert. Our waitress was sweet and attentive and the hostess was very sweet also. It's a tad noisy on a Saturday night, but we didn't really mind as everything else was great!"

  • "Food was good. My friends had their special the seafood gratin. They loved it. I had the shortribs and they were good as usual. I love the pink peppercorns in the shortrib dish. We asked for a quiet corner as we are friends , some from out of town who get together infrequently. The waitstaff was very considerate and let us visit. We felt no pressure to leave. Their service was very attentive. Thank you for a nice evening"

  • "We love the feeling of a European bistro Nonni's has. Yes, it is crowded but still intimate. The staff steps in to help each other's tables out and gives you a chance to chat with the crew including the chef popping out to check on things. I had the seafood special and wanted to slurp the sauce up! My husband is never disappointed with the steak and fries either. We will surely visit again!"

  • "Very small, cute restaurant. Difficult to converse, due to noise level. Food and service were average. Nothing to rave about."

  • "Strange to say its fun, but my kids (8 and 9) enjoyed the atmosphere and the decorations. And their kids menu isn't chicken tenders and fries. We've been here for lunch and dinner. Highly recommend spring/summer to enjoy sitting inside by the window. With the windows open, it's like an open patio. The service is wonderful. We didn't wait for the food, in fact, the servers were very watchful - as soon as we were finished with one course they clean up and bring on the next course immediately. We don't see many kids at the restaurant, but the server and food are kids friendly. I keep this place on my special occasions list because the food is definitely gourmet (heavy and bountiful)."

  • "Nonnie's is fantastic! I had a much-needed late supper with a friend and it could not have been better. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was inviting, and the service was great. I highly recommend this place!"

  • "Nonni's food has gotten much better and the service is usually good. Can get noisy, but we will make this a regular."

  • "This was the first time we dined here, based on a recommendation from a friend. I ordered the beef bourguignon more based off of nothing else leaping off the menu as sounding good; and secondarily based on the waiter's recommendation. It lacked depth of flavor with the exception of an off-aftertaste. Additionally, and surprisingly, the meat was tough. Not tender and dry...but all the way to "I need a serrated bread knife" to cut the meat. The topper was the huge white vein protruding from one piece of beef-it was game over from there."

  • "Fish can be overcooked, especially when baked in a sauce (it keeps cooking at the table). The place is kind of cramped and noisy. Some lighter dessert options (sorbet, etc.) and better wines by the glass would be nice."

  • "I know that breast feeding is a natural thing but I still don't want to watch it while I am dining at a nice restaurant on a Saturday night."

  • "Nonni's brunch is fabulous. I have been there a number of times and the food has been great each time. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes. The eggs Benedict's and their salmon dishes are yummy! It's a great place so the indoor seating is bit noisy. I love to sit outside when the weathers nice before or after going to farmers market on a Saturday. Great bottomless mimosas. Hands down favorite brunch in Pleasanton."

  • "We enjoyed a traditional Scandinavian Christmas dinner at Nonni's. It was wonderful and included all the traditional Swedish foods and drink. Our family was thrilled to celebrate together at this lovely restaurant."

  • "I was looking for an intimate dining experience where a few college friends who had not seen each other in 25 years could meet, talk without bring bothered and enjoy a nice lunch. Nonni's checked all the right boxes. Food and ambiance were perfect and while it got a bit harder to hear each other during the noon hour, all of us liked it a great deal and would return. The seafood stew offered this week was delicious! Staff was delighted we were there meeting when we told them it had been many years since we had last seen each other. They never tried to rush us. It feels like a European bistro."

  • "My wife and I celebrated 31 years. For a Wednesday night, the place was busy and parking was challenging. We were seated right away. Online reservation was easy and convenient. The waiter opened a selected bottle of wine to be sold by the glass. First impressions was noise level was high yet conversation was not an issue. We ordered appetizers and on tray. The food was delicious. The staff was attentive with more wine and making sure everything was right. The chef inquired on the meal. Finished off with coffee and dessert. The check arrived with a very reasonable value. My wife and I enjoyed our evening"
