A word from Nonna of Italy
Nonna is Italian for grandmother, but besides respect for tradition, this spacious Sunset Strip ingenue is molto moderno. The restrained elegance of gleaming wood floors, paneled walls, and minimalist furnishings is offset by the exuberant energy from the large display kitchen.

Dishes are carefully made from superior ingredients and presented simply in generous portions. The menu showcases excellent products in plates of tangy, imported buratta, or prosciutto and melon. A bowl of orecchiette topped with ground sausage and aged pecorino is nothing fancy but made with care. Lighter Californian fare like thin-crust pizza and seared ahi tuna can also be found.

A glassed-in wine cellar has a strong collection of reds from Tuscany and Piedmont.

Diner Reviews
  • "Booked a reservation at Nonna of Italy after purchasing a $49 Travelzoo voucher for a 3-course meal ($156 value). From the time we were seated to dessert at the end, the service from all staff at the restaurant was outstanding. They didn't treat us any differently just because we came in with a voucher. The voucher allowed us to order off the regular dinner menu, which included either two glasses of wine OR a bottle of wine, and everything we ate was absolutely delicious from start to finish! Portions were substantial as well! Both seating indoors and outdoors is spacious. Definitely fine dining without the snobbery! I will certainly return!"

  • "We recently moved back to WeHo and my partner and I were looking for something close to our place. We tried Nonna for dinner. The food was quite good but at this price point one should expect far better service. We had to ask for a refill of water twice and we had to ask for another round of drinks. Waitress never came around to check on the entrees once delivered. For the price point, I'd much rather go to Il Piccolino on Robertson. Much better service, better food, and better atmosphere as well. Value is a function of quality and price. Although the food is good the poor service and mediocre atmosphere leaves me feeling there isn't much value offered here. Too bad, we only live steps from this location but will not hurry back."

  • "Food was amazing. Super casual ambiance. Great to sit outside and watch the energy of Sunset Blvd. Ceviche was super good. Calamari over the top."

  • "Nonnas was recommended to me by a friend who has been there. The restaurant did not disappoint. Elegant but casual, excellent food and ambiance. Everything was extraordinary from the homemade breads to the al dente pastas and abundance of choices in selections. We brought our own wine for which there was a $20 corkage fee but they comped the tira misu birthday dessert for our birthday girl. All in all a fabulous restaurant."

  • "Enjoyed the food but the service is always painfully slow. Complaining doesn't help either. Almost seems like they don't care. Don't think I will be returning again."

  • "Consistently excellent food, wonderfully presented. This restaurant is welcoming, accommodating, and without attitude. There is no better veal chop or tarte tatin anywhere!"

  • "Went here for a Friday night date...and probably won't go back. The restaurant itself is beautiful. High ceilings, big windows. Nice decor. Quirky chandelier. Quiet, but that may have been because it was pretty empty. The food was just ok. The Orecchiette con Salsiccia was mediocre at best. The orecchiette was over cooked, and the sauce was bland. It tasted more like ground beef than spicy italian sausage. The New York steak was better, but not worth the $40+ price tag. Service was...odd. We had to wait for menus. I got the impression that they want people to sit down and have a glass of wine before they look at the menu. That was new for me and a bit odd. We also had to ask for the check 15 minutes after having our table cleared."

  • "Consistently excellent! Quality ingredients are excellently prepared for truly delicious Northern Italian cuisine. The portions are generous, the veal chop not to be missed, the scallop appetizer to die for, and the Tarte Tatin was a memorable finish."

  • "this was our 1st time at Nonna of Italy and we were very happy with everything. The food was superb along with the wine. We travel tiItaly 2 or 3 times a year and my wife and I feel this is about as close to REAL Italian food we can get without going to Italy. I had the veal chop and it was perfect...actually I couldn't finish it. We will definitely return...soon I hope."

  • "Probably the most disappointing meal I've had in LA in over 15 years! The online reviews made me anticipate a great Italian Restaurant ..... instead we were served tasteless food that was reminiscent of a bad airport canteen."

  • "Amazing service and food- I enjoy coming to this restaurant time and again. It never disappoints! Valet available- not too noisy- The menu offers are perfect! If you want to go out for a fine dining in a truly beautiful atmosphere - you can't go wrong!"

  • "A dining experience that actually exceeded expectations both in terms of the quality and presentation of the food and the excellent service given by our waiter. We dined early when there were only a few guests in the restaurant, so not sure how well the service standards would be maintained when every table was in use. Look forward to our next visit."

  • "Wife and I went there for an early dinner celebration. The staff was very courteous, professional and very sincere. The manager actually came by our table and verified that everything was okay, which I do not see too much of these days. The food was excellent. Wine selection was decent too! The tiramisu is divine and this place does have valet parking ($7). Overall, a very enjoyable experience and definitely worth it."

  • "Ambience was great. For the app had the Calamari, which was ok. It was a bit bland for my taste even with the dipping sauces. Entrée, had the spinach and ricotta pasta in butter sauce. That was good , again a bit bland , pasta was cooked perfectly. Desert, apple tart which was quite disappointing, however, the ice cream that accompanied it was very good."

  • "just short hop from Century City, we went to Nonna after a movie nite. It was an easy stop with just OK food. It did seem filled with regulars however so they must be doing something right. We had pasta and salads with glasses of red wine. For that evening it was the right choice. I'm not sure I would become a regular myself. With a city filled with great Italian eateries Nonna is not high on my list and since it's not in my "hood" it may be a while till I go back. did like the throwback booths tho"

  • "This is becoming my favorite Italian restaurant. Went with my partner Saturday night and, as always, had a great meal and a relaxed evening. We could actually talk and hear each other- a rarity in restaurants in LA these days. I had the beef carpaccio-very fresh and tasty- and the branzino, cooked to perfection! My partner had the tuna appetizer-delicious- and the pasta with the boar ragu-very good. We shared the chocolate torte-very rich and delicious. Excellent service- everybody very attentive. Yes, I'll keep coming back!"

  • "My husband and I enjoyed a nice dinner her last weekend. Food was great. I had the ahi tartare and Leo's pasta, which were both delicious. The wine list was extensive. The service was great until the end when we did not see our waitress for about 20 mins. Other then that, we liked the place. Totally coming back here with our couple friends."

  • "The food was very fresh and well done. I was happy the chicken parm wasnt smothered in cheese as many Ital restaurants do that."

  • "I really wanted to like this restaurant but in the end this was just a mediocre Italian restaurant. We ordered meat and cheese platter for app, which was probably the highlight of the night. For main course we got the steak and lasagna bolognese. Neither stood out, the lasagna tasted surprisingly like chef boyardee. Dont get me wrong, we didnt dislike the place, we both did finish our plate. It Just wasnt as memorable as we expected it to be."

  • "I always enjoy dining at Nonna and love to introduce it to friends. They always ask, "why haven't I heard about this place?" Diners are seated a comfortable distance from other tables, the noice level accommodates conversation and the food is outstanding. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable. Always a positive experience..."

  • "This restaurant, the last commercial building before you enter the residential part of Sunset Blvd in Beverly Hills, is loved by the celebrities who live nearby for a reason: great food and spectacular service, in a beautiful contemporary space. I sort of hate writing about it because I don't want it to get overrun and impossible to get a table. But it's fantastic. I've been a numbers of times and they remember me, give me the servers I request, send over little special treats, etc. it's a restaurant that's equal parts glam and warmth."

  • "Everything was very good. My second time there. I thought $20 corkage fee was a little much but they gave us free Tiramisu as it was my friends birthday so that made the corkage fee a little more bearable. Overall I thought it was very good and probably will return in the future. The sevice was very good."

  • "This may be a Sunset Blvd establishment (literally sitting on the Beverly Hills/West Hollywood line), but the menu prices are palatable, the food is superb and the service is kind and attentive. My grandfather-in-law is a regular here and every time we're out to visit a meal here is a must."

  • "Love Nonna. Excellent food, fantastic staff, and beautiful contemporary decor (you'd think from the name that it's gonna be some little divey place with checkered table cloths, but it's a sophisticated modern setting.) And you often see legendary celebrities since it's right on the edge of residential Beverly Hills. (I won't say who since they seem to pride themselves on discretion, but I sat next to one of my childhood idols one night.) I almost hate writing this because I don't want the place to be overrun, but it is a total find."

  • "Great little neighborhood gem. Food always great, service always friendly and spot on. We bring our wine usually, but they have an extensive wine list. We always enjoy going here!"

  • "We had a lovely dinner at Nonna of Italy with very attentive service and a great selection on the menu. My starter salad was very generous and fresh - the grated gorgonzola was a nice touch because it meant that you got the flavour without the saltiness. My daily special main of papardelle with mushrooms was so flavourful. The restaurant has very high ceilings so it's not a particularly cosy venue and would be good for a large group."

  • "The service was uneven. At one time we were being rushed while at other times we could not find the waiter. We tried to pay the bill for 15 minutes. We met who I thought be the manager. I asked if he was the manager he replied, "Not really, I am just the guy". Not really sure what that meant. He never actually said, "Welcome to the restaurant my name is......". Nothing. He came around every once and a while. Nice guy. He just never told us who he was. The appetizers were good. The pasta was very good. The steak although the perfect temperature tasted burned. I think it was cooked in a wood oven. It did not taste very good. Overall it was just a strange place. A perfect candidate for a restaurant makeover show."
