Diner Reviews
  • "Love having a place like NonaRosa in the neighborhood. Pleasant, family run, great service. Upscale Italian but still family friendly and not a budget buster. Nice atmosphere. Someday it will warm up enough for them to open the patio back up! Nice to have free parking in the back and the back door to scoot right in."

  • "We moved to Minneapolis about a year and a half ago and this has become one of our favorite restaurants. We often bring our out-of-town guests there for a great meal that is not too expensive. The owners are very friendly and make you feel right at home!"

  • "I have never been disappointed here. The food is good, the staff is friendly and very customer service oriented. It is about an hour from my house but always worth the drive. I always tell people about it."

  • "The meatballs were fantastic and the asparagus risotto with salmon was wonderful! We will be back."

  • "Nice dinner. Classic Italian menu with a few unique twists. Good but not great wine list. Outstanding, friendly service. Try the pesto Artichoke dip appetizer! Nice, neighborhood place."

  • "We have only been to this restaurant 2 times. We enjoyed the first time better because we were in the main dining room and it was quiet and easy to talk to each other. The last time we were in another room that was very noisy. It was a very busy evening. We waited a bit for the server, but after that the service was very good. I have enjoyed the entrees that I have ordered. I look forward to going to this restaurant again."

  • "The food was excellent, the service was great, the ambience was warm and inviting.. The pollo gorgonzola was perfect, as were the steak and mushrooms. Our friends felt like they were on a vacation trip because the restaurant was so good and different from the usual fare. We would all return in a heartbeat. George and Pauline Johnson"

  • "Group of 8 for a late lunch (1:30) enjoyed a good table set up, good service, and good food. I would take a group there again. Pasta bar is a good bargain."

  • "All 4 of us got the pasta bar. Two of us did not get what we requested. Server corrected one. Appeared the server was not interested to correct the other pasta. No bread came to the table till we requested twice. The bread was cold and stale. We needed to request parm cheese instead of having cheese offered. Three of us got the tiramisu, though I was told it was good, one of us got a very small piece. When she mentioned this to the server, the server paid no attention to her. Overall they were very disorganized and this staff needs much more training."

  • "OUr first visit to Nonna Rosa's was great. We commented on how nice it was that there wasn't any music playing to increase the sound level so we could actually hold a nice conversation."

  • "We went to Nonna Rosa's on a Tuesday evening for dinner with our 3 year-old. They were very accomodating and made sure the meal was easy and fun! The happy hour menu had some nice drink and appetizer options. The dinner menu had some unique entrees and prices were reasonable. They didn't have a children's menu but offered chicken & fries or any sort of pasta exactly as he wanted. The meal was timed well and the service was great. I would definitely recommend this restaurant."

  • "We made reservations for dinner the evening before Valentines Day to avoid a crowded scene. It was full house, however the atmosphere was very cheerful and the level of service and food were fantastic."

  • "Large menu selection, great food. Half price bottles of wine on Sundays! Service was not so great, but I think we had a new waitress."

  • "Food was good, service was great. It did take 20 minutes before getting seated with a reservation. My husband was a bit crabby about that. But it was a busy night. Other then that it was a great night."

  • "We ordered three different dishes and all of them were amazing."

  • "I can't recommend this restaurant enough. Went on Valentine's Day with my fiance and we both loved it. It was very busy, maybe due to the holiday and there isn't a lot of waiting space, but I can't think of anything else to even think of complaining about. She had the Norwegian Salmon and I had the Veal Parm. Can't wait to get back to the cities and go again!"

  • "Though I've had better meals and course pairings, Nonna Rosa did a good job providing what they offered. We used a crowd cut coupon for the four course and were pleased with the results. A nice caprese appetizer followed with mushroom risotto leading into a tilapia that my wife loved. All ended with a nice-sized gelato and a nightcap of lemoncello. The servers did a great job explaining the food and the wine pairing that accompanied it and with the coupon the price made it very worthwhile."

  • "We were welcomed at the door like part of their family. The atmosphere was quiet and romantic. We each had a couple of the drinks which were excellent and affordable. Our server went over the different types of dinners and specials which made everything sound wonderful. The filet I had was perfectly done and the portion was great. Georgia had a pasta dish which she said was outstanding. The food came out in a reasonable time considering they were packed. We never felt rushed and enjoyed our conversation with each other after dinner. We would recommend going To Nona Rosa's to everyone for any occasion."

  • "We made reservations for Valentine's Day, but the restaurant wasn't conscientious about their capacity, so we still waited 20 minutes for a table. The waiting area was too small and cramped. However, our food was excellent. Our wait staff also did a great job."

  • "We enjoyed the four course dinner with wine tastings the day before Valentines Day. It was a romantic and fun experience. Our server was attentive and did a great job. It was a very good value for the money. We will go again!"

  • "It a lovely place. The staff was helpful, very friendly, and very busy. Imlad a Caesar salad to start. I felt tyat there was too much parmesan dressing that smothered the flavor of the chicken and lettuce. I don't remember the name of the entrée I had, but it consisted of noodles, pork, olives in a cream sauce. Similar to the salad, I felt, while it tasted good, they put on too much sauce, that it overwhelms the flavor of the other items. My wife had a steak. I felt our meats were excellent. But I feel with sauces & dressings, less is more. Excellent wine menu. Our server was lovely. We'll be back."

  • "My Hubby to be and I wanted a nice romantic dinner. We chose Nonna Rosa's. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We love the food and the ambiance here. My favorite cocktail is the Salty Caramel Martini. In the summer we love to sit outside for lunch and have a great glass of wine. The Wine selection is very extensive, there is something for everyone. The Chefs are very friendly as they usually make a point to come over or say a greeting from behind the counter. We have recommended Nonna Rossa's to our friends and family. We will be returning real soon."

  • "We usually get great service and excellent food at Nona Rosa, not so this time. The server was very high strung and so phony. Although they weren't busy, she ran around like a chicken with her head cut off most of the time and forgot items multiple times. She was also very stuck up. We dine here regularly and are excellent customers, and great tippers. The food was also off (6:30 Friday night, not real busy). Not at all what we expect when we dine here. Hope this isn't a sign of things to come. Will go again becuase it's uncharacteristic of Nona's to have such a bad vibe."

  • "We were in town for a event and gave it a try. My only complaint is that it's not in Seattle, if it was we would make it a regular stop. Great food, people and value. Well done little place......"

  • "I decided to set up our dinner at Nona Rosa's in Robbinsdale as none of us had been there before but I had heard about it from friends. The food and service did not disapoint! We enjoyed the small quaint atomosphere and the neighborhood feel. Our server was very sweet and attentive."

  • "The food was very good, however, the service was marginal. The server seemed put out having to provide service. After the meal as we engage in some last minute conversation, the server kept walking by and staring at us as if we were expected to leave despite the fact there were open tables all around us and no one waiting to be seated. The atmosphere felt like, "hurry up and eat and get out of here". Didn't really feel like there was a chance to enjoy the meal, company, and ambience."

  • "This was our first time at Nona Rosas in robbinsdale, the service was first rate along with the food. I had the pork medallions with lingune and feta cheese. It was very good and the portion was huge! We had a party of four and everyone was satisfied with the food. The prices were better than expected. The wine list was great, they even had my favorite scotch Oban at a great price! I am going back and soon."

  • "We ate at the bar and had outstanding, friendly service. The bread was served warm and was tasty. We had two pasta dishes, one seafood the other with meat sauce and meat ball. Both offered plenty of seafood and meat. The meat sauce dish was a little bland, but this may be personal preference for a spicer sauce. The seafood very good."

  • "This is the perfect little "out of the way" Italian restaurant for a romantic night for couples. You feel like you've walked into a friend's home for a comfortable and relaxing dinner. The portions are generous and affordable, although you will not get the complex and refined flavors of a meal at Biaggi's. Nonna Rosa's should definitely be on your list of destinations for a lovely evening, but don't expect to be blown away. One appetizer (shared with my wife), two entrees, and two drinks were under $50 without a coupon."

  • "Good wine list. Nice interior for neighborhood restaurant. Should have staffed one more server. Food was good, not great. I would eat there again, but not do a huge fancy meal and just stick to an entree and call it a day."

  • "The restaurant was charming, in many respects, and the service was excellent. But all of our pasta was overcooked. And the gnocci, while billed as "homemade" on the menu, tasted like mashed potatoes. Doubtful we will be back."

  • "I decided to try Nonna Rosa's since the reviews were so good, unfortunately, I was not impressed. The bruschetta was served on something that resembled Texas Toast. The gnocchi and mostaccioli were both pretty bland. Caesar salads were just acceptable, but did have good anchovies. The wine list was decent and very fairly priced. Portions were generous and our server was very nice."
