  • "Truly a fantastic place to go when you're looking for an upbeat atmosphere. Friday and Saturday nights the place is packed. Live blues jazz sets the place on fire! Get there early for a seat cause it's standing room only once the show starts. The food is OUTSTANDING. Never had a bad experience. The servers are exceptional. In fact the entire staff always goes above and beyond. LOVE this place!"

  • "We had been wanting to eat here for quite some time. It did not disappoint. We started with the fried alligator. Yum. We both went for the shrimp and grits. Also great, but one minor complaint. The tails were still on the shrimp and with the sauce you couldn't really see them. Did not enjoy the mouth full of crunch. Drinks were good but expensive. Nice off the beaten path options for both mixed drinks and beer. We can't do this place all of the time due to the price but great for a special treat. They also had live music in the bar area that was fantastic."

  • "Great soup! Went there on a Sat at lunch before seeing Swan Lake at the Benedom.. The service was excellent, good food in fact my teenage daughter is very picky and ate all the crab bisque as well as 1/2 of the chicken cordon bleu sandwich. I had the oyster stew which had various seafood and broth was delicious!! I will go back and take my hubby...Po Boy sandwich was excellent! Tomato wasn't ripe but I guess its hard to get those in February!!! Cool New Orleans atmosphere..."

  • "I brought my wife here for our first time as a surprise/early Valentine's Day dinner. It was the first time either of us had been to Nola on The Square and I can say with the utmost confidence that this was an experience we will remember for a long time! There was a reminder call about our reservation, the service was perfect, a menu that will make you change your order half a dozen times and a great atmosphere for any occassion. I had the Seafood Jumbalaya and my wife had the Scallop and Shrimp Mac Daddy. Both were amazing. Highly recommand the French Onion Soup as well."

  • "the ambiance is lively with diners across a spectrum of age groups. Our food was very good and the service was attentive. The only negative was that out entrees were served lukewarm. The waiter advised the manager of our complaint. He explained why the temperature was what it was...in effect, that's how it's supposed to be. We accepted that, finished our meal since the food tasted good but still wished it came to us hotter. It was my first visit; we will probably return sometime but not likely in the short term."

  • "The hostess seated us immediately upon our arrival. The chosen table permitted a good view of other restaurant clientele and the open kitchen area was another entertainment option. The menu offered a variety of unexpected culinary tastes, and the fried alligator (I was told by my friend) was crispy and yet tender. I enjoyed the voodoo fries--spicy yet moist inside. Everything was well seasoned. The food portions were ample and served in a timely manner."

  • "Anytime a restaurant attempts to take on a specific style or culture of food, I am always concerned that they will fall flat. I am glad to see NOLA brought it with their flavors and menu choices. If you have eaten in New Orleans before you will definitely enjoy the similar flavors with a Pittsburgh twist. We were fortunate to dine with Sherradon who is one of NOLA's assets when it comes servers. She was extremely helpful on making menu decisions and kept the experience warm and delightful. Highly recommend this restaurant!"

Only bad thing is that I made reservations for 5:30, They called to confirm that day around 1:30 but when I arrived, they didn't have my reservation in the system. Luckily, there was seating available and we didn't have till wait too long."

  • "The food was as good as in many actual New Orleans restaurants. The only food item that was NOT good were the Beignets - - undercooked and super doughy. Everything else from gumbo to red beans & rice and chicken & biscuits were perfectly prepared with quality ingredients. Normal breakfast items of eggs benedict & omelets were also well-prepared, tasted fresh and were well-seasoned. Voodoo Mary cocktails were strong and uniquely flavored. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable and certainly told us tons of good things about the chef and the restaurant - she encouraged us to come back for dinner and the next time we're in town we will. Ambience was very dark, and very small - most of the place seemed like a bar - other than that - GREAT!"

  • "This was our first time at NOLA. I lived in Louisiana for several years, so I wasn't sure what to expect with NOLA. I went with a friend who really wanted to try it, since the menu looked interesting and I was nostalgic for some good Cajun food. NOLA is not a traditional Cajun/Creole restaurant. Their food is an interpretation of the cuisine. We had the fried alligator appetizer, grilled catfish, Pasta Lafayette, and chocolate bread pudding. None of the dishes wowed us. It's a quaint place for dinner, the bar looked interesting. The service was friendly. NOLA on the Square is an okay place for dinner, as long as you're not expecting traditional Cajun and/or Creole food."

  • "I enjoy visiting Nola for lunch! But make sure you always make a reservation before venturing out; they fill up quickly. The food is consistently good. And I enjoy the New Orleans flare on the food and decor. Portions are perfect. They offer lunch sizes as well as larger portions. It gets a bit noisy though with all the diners. You also may get seated close to other tables of guests. Therefore you may want to consider that if you plan to discuss business."

  • "This was my third visit to NOLA on the Square -- a very popular, bustling spot close to the cultural district. I tried a Toulouse Martini cocktail, which was very nice, and others had standard drinks. We sampled various appetizers, including the shrimp bites specials with various sauces, which were great. Entrees were fine, but your typical cajun type stuff -- jambalaya, cajun catfish, etc."

  • "We've had been to this restaurant on a few occasions. The food is fantastic if you enjoy New Orleans - style cuisine. The seen was vibrant however I will say very noisy on this Saturday night. Although not seated in the bar area to noise filtered over to the other side and when the band started it was difficult to carry on a conversation. The service was friendly and accommodating and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals start to finish!"

Overall, recommend for business people, especially larger tables, as the interior seating provides good space between tables for privacy in discussions."

  • "The food is very good, I have enjoyed it every time I have been there. The creole cordon bleu is good, I really enjoy the fries and beans and rice. The half sandwich/salad and soup with fries is a good lunch option. Often it is pretty quick for a sit-down lunch, but on this trip it was not as fast as usual, and our server was not very good. She was not personable, not very available, and gave us our check without asking if we were finished or how we wanted our party's check (divided or all on one). This is not the norm here in my experience, as typically the service is pretty good."
