I have been to Nola on several occasions. It is my experience not to order a steak there because they cannot cook it to the proper temperature. Seriously, the first time I ordered hangar. requested medium rare..came back well...2nd time. hangar steak..had to be cooked 2xs this time filet..bedautiful hunk of filet mignon,..came back very rare ..instead of a solid pink center. The veggies with the filet were dried up pieces of carrot, Brussels sprouts and fingerling potatoes with no flavor...demi glace was so so and way too little of it. The dish was underwhelming for what 34 bucks. Sorry, had a much better steak at Ruth's Cris 2 weeks ago. I don't like to complain but overall of the dinner for the 4 of us, the food was average. For an expensive so called high end restaurant, the food needs to improve to warrant this price range. Staff is fine and attentive. Oh, and the music..it is the standard wdve radio stuff nothing hip, nothing cool, just plain Pittsburgh stuck in 1977.

This is the first visit I've made to Nola since the fire earlier this year and it did not disappoint! They were super busy because of Light Up Night, but our waitress Stasha didn't miss a beat! We requested the sandwich menu and even though it was dinner she obliged. I ordered the roast beef debris po'boy and it was awesome! It actually rivaled its inspiration at Mothers in New Orleans! I'm counting the days until we go back after the Steelers/Saints game on the 30th.

We went for Sunday brunch and had a wonderful experience. The food was excellent and the service was very attentive. The only downside was parking. The valet parking was not in effect for Brunch. So this being Market Square (especially when they are getting the Christmas displays set up) parking is at a premium. But don't let that sour you on NOLA. Granted, the brunch menu is more New Orleans themed rather than true New Orleans cuisine. But the full menu is more like New Orleans cuisine. Enjoy.

Went for a meal before the Penguins Hockey game. Expected dark, crowded, loud, bar atmosphere. Experienced appropriate lighting, cheerful decor, did not feel packed in. We each had the fired green tomatoes, gumbo, and seafood jambalaya and loved it. My wife is from Lake Charles Louisiana and is a Cajun so she knows Cajun food. The Jambalaya is more Creole with a tomato base but good. Spicy, but not overly so. We indulged in Beignets, well I did, My wife could not eat another bite! Portions were generous and we each had jambalaya to take home. It is kind of pricy but worth it. We will go back.

Came to Nola to treat a friend for his birthday. It was both of our first times at NOLA and we loved it. Per the waitress's recommendation, we tried the crispy fried alligator, made to perfection! We had the salmon and cajun catfish for our entrees and were very impressed not only with the way the fish was cooked, but the grains they were served on top of. We also received a complimentary dessert to end a perfect meal. Pumpkin pie cheesecake ....AMAZING! Thank you for a great dinner experience.

We love New Orleans, and we felt transported there while visiting NOLA on the Sqaure in Pittsburgh. Everything is authentic and outstanding; food, music and ambience. Service was greater than excellent - our server, Danni, personalized our experience and was extremely spirited and knowledgeable. We'll return with friends tonight before leaving Pittsburgh tomorrow. Then we'll miss this gem!

The first two times we dined here,it was very good with attentive service. Subsequent visits including our last meal ther on 11-11-14 were extremely disappointing. The food quality has definately slipped and the portions very small for the price charged. We were entertaining an out of state visitor and I was so ashamed that I had made this restaurant my choice for showing off Pgh's restaurant scene. Our server was very annoying in making excuses for his inattentive service. The restaurant was less than half full and it made no sense for his lack of attention. This will be our last visit here and there are plenty of other places to spend top dollar and get a better meal than here.

My wife and I came here after we had been talking about going for quite some time. There's not too many things that I won't eat but my wife tends to be a bit more selective when eating out. I was in the mood for some jambalaya which was fantastic - great flavors, generous portions of chicken, shrimp, scallops, and sausage. My wife got the flat iron steak and fries. She generally likes steak medium well to well done which usually leaves a steak, at most places, dry and tough if not cooked properly. Needless to say, she said it was the best steak she thinks she's ever had. We also shared the french onion soup as an appetizer and were very pleased with that as well. Well done Nola!

Maybe it was a bad night, but my alligator bites were small, overly breaded and had difficulty finding the alligator. The one or two pieces I did find on a plateful were dry. The spicy aioli was good, but who can find fault with mayo and spice? My jambalaya consisted of undercooked rice, some diced tomatoes, and grilled shrimp (underdone), grilled chicken (overdone), scallops (ok),(all on top) and andouille sausage mixed in. I was warned the cast iron crock it came in would be hot, but sadly parts of the dish were cold. I think it should have sat in the oven a couple of minutes more, and a little more care on the chicken. Having said that, my vision of jambalaya is all those ingredients stewed together with some spice but this is nouveau?

My husband and I went here before seeing a show at Bhyram Theater. While the service was great (they made sure we finished up in time to not be late for our show), the food was overall disappointing. We had the BBQ shrimp, fried green tomatoes, shrimp & grits, and the quail entrée. The fried green tomatoes were delicious, but the rest of the dishes were just fine, nothing to crave, that's for sure. We've been before at lunch and it's been great, but this dinner definitely did not meet our expectations.

If your coming in for a game, play, or just to dine you should drop into this place. The chef prepares top-notch cuisine in a Louisianan style. But, just because of the "Cajun" ambiance there are some not so spicy dishes also. I recommend: Blackened Salmon or the Steak Frites, Alligator Bites, and the delicious Bourbon Ball (if you have room)!

My second visit to this restaurant in a few years. Food was very tasty and our hostess, Molly, was charming and very affable. The night we were there, several events in town were going on. The restaurant was somewhat understaffed. Service a little slow, but certainly not a deal breaker. I had the Shrimp and Grits and my wife had the lobster/Shrimp Mac and cheese. Both dishes were wonderful and the portions generous. We both had an appetizer. I had a Wedge Salad and my wife had a Cajun shrimp dish. A bit pricey at $100(with tip with no Alcohol)), but certainly an enjoyable eating experience.

Very nice atmosphere and a great wine list. The menu is a tad limited so you may want to look on line before heading out. We found NOLA to have a very pleasant, welcoming atmosphere and vibe. Service was great and all the staff were super pleasant. Drink selection was nice and drinks were tasty (Great Hurricane) Menu selection was exciting. We had crispy alligator and fried green tomato appetizers and jambalaya and shrimp and grits. Food was all ok, but nothing overly delicious. For the price, we would have expected a higher quality in the preparation/taste. Could have been our personal taste preferences, but the 2 of us agreed that all the food items were of average taste.

We visited NOLA prior to the theater for a quick early dinner. Service was great-Kassandra was knowledgable and helpful yet understanding. Our food was very good with a few minor "qualifications". We split a NOLA salad with fresh greens and crunchy bits of candied pecans. I had the Mac Daddy Shrimp & Scallops- very good but a little expensive at $27 for comfort food even if it had 3 scallops and 4 medium shrimp. Better-half had the baked chicken which was moist and plentiful- a full half chicken.
