  • Private Party Facilities: Teeter House has 2 separate dining rooms, each with the capability of seating up to 16 guests as well as a lounge which seats up to 6. A "room buyout" is perfect for a smaller party comprised of 8-16 guests. A dining room or the lounge may be reserved as a "room buyout" for a 1/2 or full night. A 1/2 night minimum in a dining room is $500, a full night $1000. A 1/2 night minimum in the lounge is $300, a full night $600. All food and beverage is included in this minimum, 9.3% tax and a %20 gratuity are additional.

    A full restaurant buyout option for private parties of 16-40 maximum is also available. A full buyout includes rental of the Teeter House and its patio, a special menu designed specifically for your event, and a full waitstaff for the evening. Full restaurant buyouts begin at $5000 from Sunday to Thursday and $7000 on Friday and Saturday nights.

    Prix Fixe tasting menu available every Fri. and Sat. night, $80 per person-please call for details and to make your reservation.

    Sunday Bento Box Brunch available by reservation only, $50 per person includes one wine pairing.

    A credit card is required to secure a reservation for Prix Fixe menu, Bento Box Brunch, and parties of 5 or more guests.

    We respectfully ask that if you must cancel, please do so 24 hours in advance or a charge of $25 per guest may be applied to your credit card.

Refined Asian-style teahouse by day, funky izakaya by night: Nobuo at Teeter House reflects the fascinating duality of Nobuo Fukuda.

The setting — a turn-of-the-century, wood-floored bungalow, awash in earth tones — emulates the relaxed intimacy of Japan’s izakaya, where friends and business associates gather to eat Japanese-style tapas, drink beer and have fun. Nobuo elevates the custom while staying true to its low brow roots, offering rustic Japanese classics with modern American inflections.

During the day, a short lunch menu is offered, as are exotic, aromatic teas, meant to be sipped and savored over quiet conversation.

In the evening, Nobuo creates"5-Star" cuisine, bringing a Western sensibility to Japanese sushi traditions while combining seasonal ingredients in exciting, inventive ways.

  • "Nobuo serves tasty food in very small portions at ridiculously high prices. $18 for two pieces of chicken about the size of a Chicken McNugget doesn't pass my sanity test. If you have lots of disposable income and you want trendy rather than value, Nobuo is fine. If you actually have to work for a living, try another place. The food portions are just too small to fill you up and costs is just too high for me."

Nobuo's imaginative approach, excellent technique, and lack of pretense make for a comfortable and satisfying experience. But I just wasn't as excited about the place as I have been in the past at this last visit. Perhaps some of the novelty has worn off and there are now other places in town doing competent, interesting riffs with a similar palette of Asian flavors. The other thing is that the space needs some refreshing. The only real negative was being brought the check before even finishing the main course. I don't mind that at a burger place. I don't like it when it's over a hundred dollars per person. Irritating."

  • "We went on the recommendation of a friend who knows the Phoenix food scene well. The food and service are over the top great and the setting in an historic home is welcoming and comfortable. We concentrated on seafood appetizers and entrees. They were all flavorful and meticulously prepared to a fault. The service is friendly and knowledgeable. Considering the high quality of the food and its preparation, the menu items are very reasonably priced. A total five star experience across the board marred only by the loud group of tipsy men seated next to us (rooms are small/tables are close) having a business account experience."

Mr. Fukuda has a way of making each of his plates a masterpiece of taste and experience. While I am not normally a fan of Japanese fusion food, every bite I took was fully Japanese with subtle tastes of Italy, France and Spain. This is a must experience restaurant."

  • "First off, let me just say that the food was absolutely delicious. We tried 4 different dishes and were certainly not disappointed by the quality... That being said, I was slightly disappointed by the quantity. We ended up stopping by Ra in Scottsdale just to get an appetizer to get us to that "content" state. When they give you a recommended number of plates for your party size, I would recommend going to the upper bounds of that recommendation."

  • "We (2) went on a Thurs. nite 7 p.m., seated us immediately, restaurant was just filled enough that it wasn't too loud in 1 of the many small, very quaint, simple but elegant decorated rooms. Service was outstanding. We proceeded to work our way through the menu: 3 cold dishes (Hamachi, Carpaccio, Oyster/uni) & 6 warm dishes (Fried shrimp, Duck, Crab, Lamb curry, Foie Gras, and Clams), all were very unique in taste and beautiful presentation & if I may add, timed perfectly, finishing 1 dish, then serving the other without feeling rushed. Also we did indulge in the specialty cocktail menu which was also excellent."

  • "Here's my menu: Grapefruit & Hamachi with avocado, white truffle ponzu oil--melt in your mouth amazing! Shiromi Carpaccio with ginger, yuzu kosho, sesame oil, garlic, house made focaccia--the focaccia was the best I ever had, fresh & warm. They pour the hot sesame oil over the white fish and it was incredibly delicious. Karei Karaage (fried black back sole, blood orange vinaigrette, bone chips)--you haven't lived until you've had bone chips! The sole was perfectly cooked and the bone chips were crispy, a perfect contrast. Service was perfect and the hostess was very nice in explaining how everything was prepared. At this time of year, they were also serving outside. Not that would be a spectacular evening. :-)"

  • "An Asian fusion gem set in an historical Phoenix wood-frame house. You feel the blend of influences as soon as you walk into the door. The wife and I are foodies from LA and were pleasantly surprised by the traditional Western setting for such an innovative menu. Service was very good and attentive and the staff was well-versed in the intricacies of the menu. We loved the roasted cauliflower in sesame dressing, The grapefruit and hamachi was fresh and flavorful. Soft shell crab salad and warm duck salad were outstanding. Chef Nobuo stopped by our table at the end of the meal and was so gracious. We assured him we would be stopping by again next time we were in PHX."

  • "My husband and I ate at Nobu for the first time. My husband is Chinese-Cambodian so he can be a little picky about Asian food, especially at a high-end restaurants where the items are pricey. We were both very impressed with the taste of the food and could see why Nobu had received so many good reviews. The Soft Shell Crab and Noodle Salad and the Roasted Duck Breast Salad literally had us licking the plate clean. Our only complaint would be the taste of the food is worth the price, but not the portion sizes. I know it is tapa style, but after sharing 5 dishes and spending $80 before tip we were still hungry. It just seemed like we should have been fully satisfied."

Very unique flavors sand textures, with just enough adventure mixed in. We particularly enjoyed the house-cured salmon, sugar snap pea and octopus dumplings.   • "We had the Seabass and Mushroom, Big-Eye Tuna Tataki and Kimchi as an appetizer, but the portions are rather small. If you're hungry, you'll need two entrees, and at $16 to $18 a plate, that can get expensive. The service was, um, serviceable if a little slow. Were I a bit more flush in the wallet, I wouldn't hesitate as much, but it's fine if you can afford it."

It wasn't.....The duck salad was very, very good, but about the only thing on the limited menu that we thought was worth ordering. Prices were high, considering.....even the windows were dirty...... We know that this is a historic building, but it could stand some repairs, even the steps needed painting."

  • "We enjoyed everything we ordered! Style is small plates to be shared and for 2 of us we had 5 different plates -- 3 were sashimi and definitely the best I've had since Seesaw closed. I highly recommend the Hamachi and grapefruit -- divine! The curried lamb chops were also amazing and unlike anything I've tasted before. Truly the best flavor combinations and each dish is its own unique work of art. Looking forward to returning and trying more delicious items -- next time will skip dessert though - just ok."

  • "I've been here a number of times and it's an exsperience like no other. Nearly everything on the menu is something you'd never have at home. It is key to order and share enough plates you DO NEED to order at least three or four plates per person as all the plates are very small and meant to be shared. The fried black cod with edible bone chips is my favorite dinner I tried so far and get that one every time and we always enjoy the potato sujo flights."
