  • Some of the best food I've ever had

This is a foodie paradise, and priced to match. We went for restaurant week, which was a 6 course menu. The sea bass and the Wagyu short ribs were worth it alone. I didn't know fish could have that taste and texture. It was so amazingly soft and juicy yet seared. The short ribs were a revelation. Probably the best meat I've ever had. So tender and soft, almost to the point of melting, and with such a subtle and spicy flavor. Go!

The waiters were slow with the food but quick with pouring the wine and opening new bottles. The food was over-complicated and very expensive for the small portion sizes.

WE love Nobu's - its actually one of our fav restaurants for special occasions however the service was unusually slow that evening. We did see a big party enter after we were seated. We ordered 5 omakase and did not leave the restaurant until after 10:00. The food was great as usual but we had to wait at least 15-20 minutes or more between each dish. Our waiter was pleasant but never apologized for the food taking so long. I usually do not write reviews but thought you folks should know about this.

I was very excited about dining at nobu, being a chef myself, it was a restaurant I could tick off the list. I was not disappointed; fantastic food, cooked perfectly, the cocktail & wine list wasnt as big as you'd expect; which was a welcome change, none of that ten pages of wine. I'm only giving my experience 4 stars because the service was too quick; with such a beautiful dining room & such great food, I wanted to take my time which dish (served tapas style) but no sooner had I taken the last piece off of the plate, the next dish would be there. Highly recommend everyone to eat here. Bravo to the chefs.

Been to them all in Waikiki but nothing tops Nobu. Have eaten there over 30 times and ordering uni tacos everything else is a perk. Just our preference but we prefer the cold dishes. Their tempuras are amazing but their sashimi creations are over the top. Feel free to ask ANY of their superb waiters to describe each and every dish. They are all experts. Just a note : my wife and I were wine educators in NYC before we moved here and really take our food, ambiance and waitstaffs very carefully.

Mediocre fixed priced menu at $135??What was that final course of cold noodles???? Waiters kept rotating and wanted to add a la carte entrees?? What is this? Drinks were creative and fun! Dessert (included in pre fix )was great! I would stick to a la carte menu at Waikiki nobu. Valet parking across the street is a plus . BTW, predinner drinks at sunset across the street at House without a key are a must!

Japanese with a Peruvian twist describes Nobu's cuisine. Sushi is melt in your mouth sublime and the other dishes equally delicious. A signature dish of snapper sashimi with jalapeño and a citrus ponzu is a palate delight. Expensive but worth the splurge.

Although the food was good I expected a lot more based on all the hype. This restaurant was not kid friendly at all given that almost every competing restaurant offers up at least a kids menu. Seating was terrible...the waiters and guests repeatedly ran into out chairs. Everybody was in a hurry, almost frantic, which didn't exactly make for a peaceful dining experience. Their signature dessert was so unremarkable...a chocolate soufflé cake. And I swear the green tea I r cream that accompanied it tasted like fish. I literally had a better soufflé cake the next day at CPK. It was a very expensive meal and sadly I left disappointed.

Tropical Storm Ana hampered our Waikiki vacation for 3 of our 5 days. It was our last night, and in lieu of a tourist-centric luau, we decided to go to Nobu Waikiki for food we knew we would enjoy. The atmosphere was lively, at times a little louder than we're used to at our usual Dallas location. Service was cordial, but got off to a slow start, with a lag here and there at the beginning. But it smoothed out and our server made sure our courses were paced well. The food, as always, was sublime. Bold, innovative flavors and perfect execution made it a very memorable meal, and we left feeling "manzoku" - extremely satisfied. Thanks to Nobu for helping our vacation close on a high note.

Reservations were @ 5:30 the dining area was empty as they just opened. They sat my wife and I in the corner which was fine then they sat another couple at the table right next to us... Very odd and uncomfortable, especially when trying to have a romantic dinner when the dining area was empty, the couple requested another table, if they didn't we would have... very odd to place someone that close when the whole place was empty.

king crab ceviche nice; king crab tasty, well prepared, but found several shell pieces. but I'm always the lucky one--thank goodness not my wife, since it was her birthday!! The legacy cocktail was outstanding, even with the iceberg in it. Like icebergs you only see 10 percent!! haha. more light in the middle of the table would allow you to see the great presentations.

We went to dinner tonight to indulge in the special omakase celebrating Nobu's 20th anniversary with the special omakase "20 Bites in 20 Years" we opted for the premium version and was not disappointed. Haven't been here in awhile so it was great to enjoy favorites like the lobster with hearts of palm "pasta" or the tai snapper with a slice of matsutake mushroom with sesame and olive oil. crab tempura with ama-ponzu sauce and black cod with foie gras. Many standout dishes. I wish I could get a pint of the pineapple shiso sorbet to go! which was just one of 5 desserts that night. I can't wait to come back to enjoy other dishes at Nobu Waikiki.

As a long-time foodie here in Honolulu, it was time to try out Nobu. We really enjoyed the food and the service, however, there are many better places, with lower prices and better value, all over town. One thing they did was "offer" us a "comp" dessert and then had the nerve to charge for it! Will never go back.

My family had always wanted to try Nobu's and we finally had a good excuse to challenge the Waikiki traffic, so we have it a shot. The entire evening was fun and enjoyable. Starting with a couple of Nobu's signature cocktails (the cucumber white peach sangria was awesome!), then on to a few cold dishes, all of which were excellent. The best dish of the night had to be the sea bass special. It was possibly the best fish my wife had ever eaten and we were both born and raised in Hawaii, home of fabulous seafood! Our suggestion, don't even bother trying to navigate the menu alone. The staff are all very knowledgable, friendly and eager to help. Everything our waiter suggested was right on the money.

Nobu is an interesting restaurant chain. We have been to several locations and have found the food quality and service to be inconsistent. Never is it not good, but it can be stellar, depending on the location. For example, the "pop up" Nobu at the Indian Wells tennis tournament is as good as a creative Japanese restaurant gets. Our recent experience in Waikiki and a year ago in San Diego were examples of good but not outstanding meals, as well as rushed service. There was literally no time to catch our breath in between courses. There were also no specials on the menu in Waikiki, except for the frozen Chilean Seabass with Miso, a variation of their signature black cod dish. One would think there would be fresh seafood specials here.

We LOVE Nobu and have been regular patrons since it opened here 5+ years ago. Food, (Fish & Sushi), service, entire staff and the whole place is simply a knock out punch!! We eat only Fish & Vegeys so it is the too die for authentic Japanese food. Sushi Chefs are amazing and we usually sit with them to enjoy watching their artistic flair and delicate prep work. If you think Morimoto is it, think again cause hands down, Nobu kicks them around the block every time!

My wife and I have been working long hours and we've been waiting for a night out to reconnect with each other...my friends recommended Nobu so we booked our reservation. We were greeted at the front by two professional hostesses and was escorted to our table. Our server was friendly and explained everything on the menu and wine list...his recommendations were "spot on" and both my wife and I truly enjoyed our evening. The quality of the food was fantastic and the saki was truly tasty! The experience felt like our "first date" together since our work schedules have been hectic and spending quality time has been "non-existent"...and we've only been married 18 months!

I was at the Suchi counter with two very demanding Japanese ladies always in search of culinary excellence. Kaori the suchi chef is excellent from the culinary, service, and leadership standpoints. My wife refuses to go to Nobu unless she can eat at the counter in front of Kaori. The combination of a la carte sushi/sashimi/ and other raw, cold, or steamed, grilled and seared fish is the best in Honolulu without a doubt. My guests were delighted. When it comes to the wine the pricing is abusive for example you charge nearly 6 times the Costco price for a bottle of Louis Jadot Pouilly Fuisse. This is not only excessive but somewhat insulting. I would review this if I were you, and note that I am not a person usually on "a budget".

Food, as usual, was excellent. This Nobu's is just too noisy to enjoy the experience. Tables very close together. The wait staff, while trying to be informative, seems like they have been to too many sales meetings. I know it's a function of the location, but there's a ton of cultural difference going on here that was off-putting. I don't remember Japan being like this, but these particular Japanese people have very different table manners. Possibly, because they are on vacation. Possibly, they don't have much respect for fine dining in a foreign country. Most (yes, most) of them were constantly on their cellphones texting friends. So, you see a large number of diners hunched over their phones instead of enjoying food.

This evening did not start promisingly when Nobu did not have a table ready for us until 20 min after our reservation. The cocktails were delicious at the bar but once we were seated by the hostess it took 17 minutes before any wait staff came to speak to us. Even then, I had to grab a busboy and ask him to bring us menus. We were sitting at our table for 23 minutes before anyone even brought us water. The waiters in our area we're blatantly avoiding eye contact with my wife and I and did not respond to our polite requests for assistance. We eventually got a waiter from another area to come help is. Once he picked up our table he was very good, explained the menu and provided intelligent recommendations. Service remained slow throughout.
