  • "food was great and service superb. normally this is a special occasion event (as it was my wife's birthday), but may have to go there "just because""

  • "The food and service were fantastic! We really enjoyed the cold dishes served first and I especially loved the scallops with cucumber and lilikoi. The cold saki I had was perfect with the food."

  • "One of the best restaurants on the island, but quite expensive."

  • "king crab ceviche nice; king crab tasty, well prepared, but found several shell pieces. but I'm always the lucky one--thank goodness not my wife, since it was her birthday!! The legacy cocktail was outstanding, even with the iceberg in it. Like icebergs you only see 10 percent!! haha. more light in the middle of the table would allow you to see the great presentations."

  • "The food was great, the service was excellent, and just a cool vibe. Very impressed with Nobu. I'm on my honeymoon and would highly recommend it."

  • "We went to dinner tonight to indulge in the special omakase celebrating Nobu's 20th anniversary with the special omakase "20 Bites in 20 Years" we opted for the premium version and was not disappointed. Haven't been here in awhile so it was great to enjoy favorites like the lobster with hearts of palm "pasta" or the tai snapper with a slice of matsutake mushroom with sesame and olive oil. crab tempura with ama-ponzu sauce and black cod with foie gras. Many standout dishes. I wish I could get a pint of the pineapple shiso sorbet to go! which was just one of 5 desserts that night. I can't wait to come back to enjoy other dishes at Nobu Waikiki."

  • "As a long-time foodie here in Honolulu, it was time to try out Nobu. We really enjoyed the food and the service, however, there are many better places, with lower prices and better value, all over town. One thing they did was "offer" us a "comp" dessert and then had the nerve to charge for it! Will never go back."

  • "My family had always wanted to try Nobu's and we finally had a good excuse to challenge the Waikiki traffic, so we have it a shot. The entire evening was fun and enjoyable. Starting with a couple of Nobu's signature cocktails (the cucumber white peach sangria was awesome!), then on to a few cold dishes, all of which were excellent. The best dish of the night had to be the sea bass special. It was possibly the best fish my wife had ever eaten and we were both born and raised in Hawaii, home of fabulous seafood! Our suggestion, don't even bother trying to navigate the menu alone. The staff are all very knowledgable, friendly and eager to help. Everything our waiter suggested was right on the money."

  • "We came to Nobu on a recommendation. Not being familiar with Japanese cuisine, we were quite apprehensive about the whole food and experience. Our waitress was excellent, putting us completely at ease, explaining the menu and dishes, and making helpful recommendations. My wife found that she could enjoy "raw fish", and the Black Cod Miso was to die for. Overall a great experience."

  • "Nobu is an interesting restaurant chain. We have been to several locations and have found the food quality and service to be inconsistent. Never is it not good, but it can be stellar, depending on the location. For example, the "pop up" Nobu at the Indian Wells tennis tournament is as good as a creative Japanese restaurant gets. Our recent experience in Waikiki and a year ago in San Diego were examples of good but not outstanding meals, as well as rushed service. There was literally no time to catch our breath in between courses. There were also no specials on the menu in Waikiki, except for the frozen Chilean Seabass with Miso, a variation of their signature black cod dish. One would think there would be fresh seafood specials here."

  • "It is possible to eat delicious fresh fish, and we are very pleased with. In particular, large Toro tartare, sea urchin is a rarity."

  • "We were a group of 5 and had a wonderful night at Nobu. The food was outstanding and the service perfect. Delicious but pricey."

  • "We LOVE Nobu and have been regular patrons since it opened here 5+ years ago. Food, (Fish & Sushi), service, entire staff and the whole place is simply a knock out punch!! We eat only Fish & Vegeys so it is the too die for authentic Japanese food. Sushi Chefs are amazing and we usually sit with them to enjoy watching their artistic flair and delicate prep work. If you think Morimoto is it, think again cause hands down, Nobu kicks them around the block every time!"

  • "My wife and I have been working long hours and we've been waiting for a night out to reconnect with each other...my friends recommended Nobu so we booked our reservation. We were greeted at the front by two professional hostesses and was escorted to our table. Our server was friendly and explained everything on the menu and wine list...his recommendations were "spot on" and both my wife and I truly enjoyed our evening. The quality of the food was fantastic and the saki was truly tasty! The experience felt like our "first date" together since our work schedules have been hectic and spending quality time has been "non-existent"...and we've only been married 18 months!"

  • "I was at the Suchi counter with two very demanding Japanese ladies always in search of culinary excellence. Kaori the suchi chef is excellent from the culinary, service, and leadership standpoints. My wife refuses to go to Nobu unless she can eat at the counter in front of Kaori. The combination of a la carte sushi/sashimi/ and other raw, cold, or steamed, grilled and seared fish is the best in Honolulu without a doubt. My guests were delighted. When it comes to the wine the pricing is abusive for example you charge nearly 6 times the Costco price for a bottle of Louis Jadot Pouilly Fuisse. This is not only excessive but somewhat insulting. I would review this if I were you, and note that I am not a person usually on "a budget"."

  • "You can't go wrong with the chef's special meal which provides you with a variety of hot and cold selections and includes dessert. It is well worth the $100 price The fish is very fresh. The wait staff is very attentive. The only downside to the restaurant is the very close seating in proximity to other tables."

  • "Nobu is always great. Seriously. This was my friend's first time dining at Nobu and he loved it. Will be back again, hopefully with more friends."

  • "Food, as usual, was excellent. This Nobu's is just too noisy to enjoy the experience. Tables very close together. The wait staff, while trying to be informative, seems like they have been to too many sales meetings. I know it's a function of the location, but there's a ton of cultural difference going on here that was off-putting. I don't remember Japan being like this, but these particular Japanese people have very different table manners. Possibly, because they are on vacation. Possibly, they don't have much respect for fine dining in a foreign country. Most (yes, most) of them were constantly on their cellphones texting friends. So, you see a large number of diners hunched over their phones instead of enjoying food."

  • "This evening did not start promisingly when Nobu did not have a table ready for us until 20 min after our reservation. The cocktails were delicious at the bar but once we were seated by the hostess it took 17 minutes before any wait staff came to speak to us. Even then, I had to grab a busboy and ask him to bring us menus. We were sitting at our table for 23 minutes before anyone even brought us water. The waiters in our area we're blatantly avoiding eye contact with my wife and I and did not respond to our polite requests for assistance. We eventually got a waiter from another area to come help is. Once he picked up our table he was very good, explained the menu and provided intelligent recommendations. Service remained slow throughout."

  • "We were seated in a small room off the main seating area, a noisy fan was blowing continuously during dinner. Our waiter was friendly but lacked knowledge if menu items and did not place our order correctly. Nobu 's food is good but very pricey . Ask to be seated in main dining area."

  • "I have been to several other Nobu locations and have always enjoyed the experience...mainly the food. But the food at the Oahu Nobu location was unremarkable at best...especially considering the prices. As Hawaii locals, we are quite used to high prices in Waikiki for a fine dining experience, but from what we ordered (from drinks to cuisine) the price did not match the quality of the product. Service was great and ambience is trendy, but for quality sushi and other Japanese food, I would definitely recommend other spots in Waikiki before Nobu."

  • "We've been to Nobu or Matsuhisa in London, New York, Tokyo, LA, Malibu, Hong Kong, Las Vegas (the largest, supposedly) and now Waikiki. Food is consistent, and we love that! The ambience has a great vibe, and although it's more an adult place, the restaurant set up our table with a high chair for our LO before we arrived, which made seating more efficient!"

  • "Dining at Nobu was an extravagance for our last night in Hawaii, following a week in which we parasailed at 1,200 feet, skydived for the first time from 21,000 feet, flew to the Big Island (Hawaii) to see Kilauea Volcano. We decided upon the Chef's Premier Selection - an experience whereby the chef negotiates a per person price with you and then delivers several courses showcasing the very best on offer from the kitchen. It gives the chefs the opportunity to show off their incredible skills and the diner the chance to sample some of the most amazing food ever eaten. My boyfriend used this opportunity to present me with an interlocking set of white gold & diamond rings as a sign of his ongoing commitment to me and our 9 year relationship."

  • "This was easily the best meal we've ever had. The food, wine, and service were all perfect. If you're a foodie, wino, and love good Asian fusion, this is your place. We ordered the chef's tasting menu and every course was incredible. The sushi was melt-in-your mouth grade. The toro tartar was the best we've ever had. The sake menu is extensive and stacked with great choices. If you've never had it, this is the place to try. The sake is aromatic and smooth. Nothing like you might have tried at regular sushi joints. The service was also spectacular. Flawless. We do not have one bad thing to say about our meal or experience. If you plan to have wine and dessert, come expecting to spend money. It's worth it."

  • "The food is absolutely incredible. Chef Nobu takes dining to a new level - drinks, appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts. And the servers are excellent. The food might seem a little more expensive, but considering that most items can be shared the cost isn't out of line. You've really got to try Nobu. Wish we had more time in a Waikiki to make a return visit."

  • "This was my third time dinner there. Once was business and the other two were with my family. Every time I was never betrayed. Or rather found a new surprise about their excellent cooking. Even as Japanese, the food is very enjoyable. The waiters are very friendly, respectful, and patiently helpful to decide our dinner choice."

  • "Both Food and service were completely up to the level that I had expected for a restaurant of this caliber. It is on the pricey side, but the omakase didn't disappoint."

  • "Everything about our experience is excellent! From entering, being seated, our server (who appeared to be on training... did an excellent job by the way), the delicious gorgeous food/drinks/dessert, the attentive staff, the sexy ambiance, the evening was perfect! Everything we expected from Nobu. Thank you! I don't recommend for children who can't control themseles.. more for adults"

  • "We were married at Above Heavens Gate and our photographer recommended Nobu for our first dinner as husband and wife. The restaurant was exactly what we wanted!! Our server, Landon, was excellent and very friendly, explained much of the menu and the styles of dining they offer. So we decided on one of the 7 course tastings, the Original Signature I believe, and it was AMAZING! It's rare we walk away from an expensive meal saying it was worth every penny, but at Nobu - it definitely is!!! For drinks we had sake and the Nobu Sidecar which I highly recommend! The dessert was simply called Lemon Sesame, which came on a plate with "Congratulations!" written perfectly in chocolate. IT WAS HEAVEN ON A PLATE!!!"

  • "My husband and I were entranced by the amazing creations brought to us when we selected the omakaze dinner. Each course was delightful, both delicious and beautifully presented. We don't spend this much on a regular basis so I was pleased when my husband said he wants us to come back here whenever we are in waikiki."
