  • "We were married at Above Heavens Gate and our photographer recommended Nobu for our first dinner as husband and wife. The restaurant was exactly what we wanted!! Our server, Landon, was excellent and very friendly, explained much of the menu and the styles of dining they offer. So we decided on one of the 7 course tastings, the Original Signature I believe, and it was AMAZING! It's rare we walk away from an expensive meal saying it was worth every penny, but at Nobu - it definitely is!!! For drinks we had sake and the Nobu Sidecar which I highly recommend! The dessert was simply called Lemon Sesame, which came on a plate with "Congratulations!" written perfectly in chocolate. IT WAS HEAVEN ON A PLATE!!!"

  • "Came here for my son's 24th birthday with total of 5, all of whom have never been here before. The atmosphere was ok - I imagined a little more quiet & a little more privacy. Not just open tables in the center of the restaurant where we sat. The service was impeccable-loved our servers! They made our dining experience memorable & spaced the food service spot on. We had all the wagyu beef dishes, shrimp salad, Ma'o farms salad, warm mushroom salad, oysters, rock shrimp tempura, bento box desserts, drunken cherry desserts & the matcha dessert. All were indescribably delicious! Not an every day place to go - strictly special occasions, because of the price. Our bill was $950 & I left a $200 tip. Worth every penny! My guests are still raving!"

  • "We are relatively new to sushi and sashimi and so we're probably not as adventurous as some. The food at Nobu is beautifully prepared and presented. We started with ahi that was outstanding, topped with a thin jalapeño slice. We also had a beef dish (one of the hot choices but I can't remember the name) and it was tender and juicy, subtly flavored with ginger and other spices. Our dessert tasted like a caramel bread pudding but they were small squares (about 4 of them) so it was almost like a little sampler dessert. That was the perfect ending! We often steer clear of desserts because we just don't need a thousand more calories, but this provided a yummy taste! We would definitely return when we next come to Hawaii!"

  • "'The Experience' is like getting geared up to hit an ultra chic dance club with minimalist & stylish ambiance then just add the most modern pairings of sushi with local fish & vegetables=AMAZING! For the Cocktail Connoisseur, the Acai Jalapeno (infused) Martini was off the chart! I travel a lot for my job & have the great opportunity to eat at restaurants around the US from dives, diners, BBQ shacks to high end steak, seafood & sushi spots. Nobu is a Top 10 spot for me to indulge for a special occasion or a great dinner meeting. Nobu is not for the frugal faint of heart as a good per person rate is around : $ 1500+ a person for planning sake. This was another stylish experience in the world of Nobu sushi.* Life is too short to eat bad food."

One cannot order everything at once. you must stagnate it. and, even then one could not eat that fast. That being said, the fish is the freshest on the island and, the Poke is a must! A must do if in Waikiki!!"

  • "We have always found finding fabulous food a mission in Hawaii. Over the last couple of years we have treated ourselves to two dinning experiences that we will never forget. Last year it was Morimoto. This year it was Nobu. We went back to Morimoto this year and ordered from the menu rather than having the set menu and we were disapponted. The Exective Menu at Nobu was a great way to introduce us to the food and we look forward to going back next year to try ordering from the menu. We'' take out time to read the menu and ask questions as there are a lot of options to choose from. Possibly too many - not a bad thing you could go there more than once over a 10 day holiday. Nobu is our first choice for a great night out in Hawaii."

The food however is a little subpar having eaten at other smaller restaurants by Nobu. The food was good, but not Nobu great. Also, the staff is very friendly, but the kitchen pushed the food (most of us had the tasting menu) out too fast. "

  • "We ordered the "local" Omakase at $135/pp. Despite asking twice, all our server would say is that the chef selects the items. Several dishes were excellent, and the waygu tasting item was spectacular. But others, including the sushi selection, were only adequate. We also noticed that the same menu was different at each table,suggesting that the selection was based no availability, rather than excellence. "

  • "Went to nobu because of all the great reviews. It did not disappoint. Had kurobuta pork which was delicious and had a nice presentation. Rock shrimp was very flavorful with the creamy sauce. Best of all was the huge king crab leg with truffle sauce. It was one of the best things i have eaten in my life. Proposed to my girlfriend and she said yes! Thanks to brandon for seating us in a quiet area and recording our special occasion."

  • "This restaurant will ruin the nobu matsuhisa name. The look on the matre de's face when we walked in with our young daughter, was of sheer disgust. Then can the worst table in an empty restaurant, the room was still empty when we left. The maki and sushi were poorly constructed and looked worse than supermarket sushi. I have eaten at NMs restaurants in London and LA and this was not in the same league. Encouraged by our server we tried a local favorite, shrimp salad, the shrimp was so over cooked we ended up leaving them and eating just the the salad leaves. "

  • "Prior to our visit to Honolulu, a friend insisted that I dine at Nobu. She warned me that it was in the pricey side but that the food and service was well worth it. She was so right! My favourite dish had to be the wagyu beef tataki. Delicious! That itself was well worth it. The rest of the food was just as delicious and the service was second to none. The staff make you feel like a rock star the moment you step through the doors. I will definitely be going there again the next time I am in Honolulu. "

  • "The food was great. Especially fatty tuna is the best. However, the service was not as good as the food. First, they could not find my name even I booked thru Open table. We had to wait for 10 minutes to be seated. The server placed the spoons on the table before taking our orders. They were supposed to be our left side table. After the meal we were waiting for the desert but the coffee was served even we did not order. They were supposed to be our right side table. Still we enjoyed the food, and will come back again."

  • "Ambiance and service were great. Food was good but I expected more creativity on the omakase (both my wife and I ordered the $125 and $100 sets respectively). Fish was definitely fresh but to be served seared ahi over greens and popcorn shrimp (for the$100) set was a bit sad. Given the abundance of Japanese restaurants in Oahu I would venture elsewhere. Nobu is great for biz meetings (there were a few going on that night) especially if your company is paying but I would stray away if paying on your own dime. "

  • "Words cannot express how the yellowfin tuna sashimi makes me feel.....you definitely want to order more than one plate. I tried the shrimp salad for the first time and it was amazing! The King Crab Tempura melts in your mouth! And don't miss the lava rock wagu beef experience! It's spectacular! It will remain in your memories forever! And for desert, the bento box with it's succulent chocolate souflee with icecream! And please try the Nobu house Chardonnay with the seafood! It's one of my favorites! "

  • "We have been to Nobu resturants all over ; but we will not me returning. While the food was amazing, our service was one of the worst experiences we have ever had. During the presentation of the resturant specials and wine pouring, the waiter left the table to attend to other guests. My partner sat there for 15 minutes with no wine. When we brought it tot the manager's attention, he shrugged his shoulders and said..."I trust my staff". Nothing else was done. At the very least, a new waiter should have been assigned. We normally don't make harsh comments, but this quality of service was appauling."
