This Nobu restaurant did not live up to our expectation....decor was not as plush as other Nobu locations, noise was intolerable for conversation, service was disjointed and frenetic though waitstaff when they would come were polite but rushed. We ordered Omikase which was expensive and the chef choices were for the most part lackluster and not special at all...we have had better sashimi and sushi and even tempura...if we had known what was to be served, we would have not ordered this signature menu . It was truly a disappointing evening and we would not come back to this Nobu again said to say. The Omikase special menu needs to be revised, updated, and really made to be different from the regular fare ...chefs need to be advised !

On our anniversary, my wife & I had their 7 course signature dinner for 2 that did not disappoint. All the plates of sashimi were first class, as were the other courses that exhibited a pleasant variety along with high quality. The individual courses were served (with fresh plates) at appropriate intervals. Though the cocktails were a bit disappointing, the entire evening's dining experience was worthy of high kudos.

We drove down from Newport Beach to celebrate our anniversary. I asked for a table with a view and we got the best seat in the house. We were in the corner with windows on 2 sides. The street scenes were amazing but nothing could compare to our dining experience. We went all out and ordered the Omakase Chef's Choice. It was well worth the money. We went on a 10+ course tour of Nobu. Each plate was better than the one before. Mere words can't describe the food....it was like we had reached Nirvana!!! The service was the best we've ever experienced and we've traveled all around the globe. Nobu is a must!! If you have the means, the Chef's Choice is the way to go. WOW WOW WOW

With reservations at 7pm, we came in early for happy hour. Unfortunately, due to an event happy hour was not available. However, upon mentioning to our server we would go next door for happy hour and would be back at 7 he graciously said we would be able to have to happy hour there and gave us a reserved table. Food was exquisite, drinks were delicious. Great service, would definitely recommend to others.

I've been in several Nobu's like Dubai London New York Malibu Monaco and LA but never ever I've had the feeling to disturbe the people working there. I was not treated as a guest at all. Had a reservation for two at 9.30pm and already at 10.15h they have asked for last call. With my reservation I asked to prepare a chocolate cake (birthday cake) they just ignored this request without saying one word. Sorry San Diego that you've got such a unpleasant Nobu in town... Food was OK but not to compare with the others I know.

The flavor combinations here are exquisite. It is Japanese fusion at its best, but it is definitely on the pricey side. Being right on the corner of the Gaslamp makes it a trendy place, with the prices to boot, but the food is worth it. Their sushi is some of the best I have ever had.

I've heard of Nobu's reputation in other states and countries but I have to say I wasn't all that impressed. The food was good but not outstanding. I was there for restaurant week so am willing to go back and try the other things on their menu as I think sometimes these restaurants can have an off day. Hopefully, I won't be disappointed.

We started at the bar and although the drinks were well made, the service was terrible. The TV was showing Monday Night Football and the bartender was more interested in the game than his customers. Moving on to dinner, we had the Restaurant Week menu, seared trout, squid pasta, sea bass, and sushi. The first three were excellent; flavorful, interesting, and a good presentation. The service at the table was also very good. Each dish was presented with an explanation, our water glasses were always full, and the pace of dinner was relaxed.

I've been to Nobu a few times, both in LA and here in SD, so I actually do enjoy the place. The SD restaurant week menu at Nobu was delicious--no complaints. Definitely go check that out. My only complaint is the OUTRAGEOUSLY priced $4/piece salmon sashimi that I ordered. What came to the table was definitely not sashimi grade fish, and I was surprised that a place like Nobu would even serve it up, let alone charge $4 a pop. Out of 10 pieces, only 2 good cuts...and there was a fish scale. Big sushi no-no.

This place is a small 'budgetary' investment - be certain of that. BUT... it is the freshest sushi and fish I've ever had. It melts in your mouth. To say it has fish doesn't cut it - it's almost its own food category. For a special occasion, the food will not disappoint... even if you are eating Ramen noodles for a few days after to make up for the check.

It was astounding that Nobu could charge such exorbitant prices and get away with it! The vegetable tempura was average and yet the price was 3x the average. The signature black cod wad very good but I've had very similar at 1/4 the cost. One of us got the Omakase (chef's choice) and the other picked from the ala carte menu so that we could sample more dishes. The salmon skin salad was sub par with way too much dressing. The sea bass with powdered miso was good but nothing to brag about. We spent just over $200 for a just above average Japanese dinner. We won't be returning since we know we can get much better and more for our money elsewhere.

As a part of a 20+ sized group, I was surprised at how smoothly the staff handled our reservation! We made a reservation for separate tables (groups of 6 and 7) on Open Table just an hour ahead of time, and when we all arrived, the host (possibly owner?) allowed us to push tables together and combine the group! Our wedding party was rowdy and spirited, but the staff handled us well. Overall, great food; fast and efficient service.

A little expensive for the portions of food and the ingredients of them. I guess they are having wonderfull financials results, the waiter's service and the quantiyt of food per dish, appears to me to generate a great deal of EBITDA. The night before we had dinner @ Donovan's and experienced a better dinner at a more fancy place with nice service place.

As long as you prepare yourself for a pricey meal, Nobu SD doesn't disappoint and the food holds it own to its brighter NY and LA brothers, although the ambiance is def more cas SoCal. Service was outstanding and quite knowledgable. The food is the star though. Led by the Waygu Flaumbet. A pricey must-have. The sushi/sashimi are wonderfully done (Toro especially) and the other "special" plates are worth the adventure. The server provided great guidance. One of my best meals on a 9-day business trip.

I've worked Comic-Con for over 20 years. When Nobu opened at the entryway to gaslamp district, I could not have been happier! It used to be a great place to escape from the con crowd. However, the last three years have gotten progressively worse. While the food remains stellar, the restaurant is completely understaffed and the staff is frantic. My second meal there, a server spilled an entire glass of prosecco on my VIP publisher guest. She did apologized profusely and the manager came over to ask if a drycleaning bill was required - it was comic-con - he was wearing jeans. I understand that accidents happen, but I would think the restaurant would have at least comped the glass of wine spilled.
