  • "Omakase was a joke not to mention a rip off for what you get. I have been to Nobu in LA, NY, London and more, and I really have to say this one really sucks. Unfortunately getting a real sushi experience not to mention a real Omakase experience in San Diego is just not possible and yes I know sushi, lived and worked in Tokyo and have been to some of the best in the US. There are multiple places in LA, for example Sushi Sushi or Q, in Ohau Sushi Sasabune, and believe it or not in Denver Sushi Den, they actually fly their fish in every day from the markets in Japan. I really wish there was a real authentic sushi bar in San Diego and yes I already know about sushi Ota, its good and yes I already know about Hahne on 5th and Olive it SUCKS"

  • "Took the family to Nobu for two milestone birthdays. The food was good but not great. The portions were miniscule and the prices astronomical. After telling the reservationist, the hostess and one of the waiters that we were celebrating two birthdays, at the end of the meal nothing was done or mentioned about it. I then asked the waiter if he knew that we were celebrating two birthdays, he answered with a surly, "I know!" I asked what they do for birthdays and he answered, "That depends on what you order for dessert." We ordered the cheesecake and the strawberry horchata malasada. The malasadas were dense, greasy donut holes, The cheesecake was 3/4" by 3". After spending $300 on dinner we all left hungry and went to In-N-Out! Never again!"

  • "I am definitely not a regular diner at Japanese restaurants but was confident I would find plenty in the menu that I would eat (not a fan of sashimi or anything raw apart from oysters). However, I ordered without any problem, I was not blown away by anything that I ate that night and was very underwhelmed by the experience. It was tremendously expensive for what we had also; so left knowing that we would not repeat the experience. Service was reasonable."

  • "We dined at Nobu San Diego on the 4th of July and had a lovely view of the fireworks from our table. This just added to the fantastic dining experience. We have eaten here several times and on this occasion chose three "main courses" which were served separately over an appropriate period of time: Tempura King Crab, Miso Black Cod and Grilled Lobster with Pepper Jalapeno sauce. All were 5 star scrumptious, which is what we have come to expect from Nobu."

  • "STAY AWAY FROM HERE PEOPLE !!! My girl and I decided to go with Nobu because we've eaten in Nobu NY, LA, MALIBU, VEGAS AND MIAMI with pretty much a good experience every time until Nobu San Diego. The service wasn't horrible but the food was WHACK the sashimi was small pieces of fish half the size we are used to in all the other Nobus. The crispy rice was decent but someone should tell them its only rice and they should give a portion bigger than a table spoon of rice. The sashimi salad was seared tuna and salty lettuce (VERY SALTY). Bottom line is this place sucked hairy balls and stay away from this place. Go To SUSHI OTA !!!"

  • "Nobu's food was once again, fabulous. But we showed up on time for our dinner reservation and were made to wait at the bar for 15 minutes - with little appreciation that this was lame. Our waitress was first class. But one of the table bus persons was a bit grabby of our plates and made me feel rushed. Was very happy that our waitress noted we were celebrating both my birthday and our 39th wedding anniversary."

The ambience was more fast food scene than an expensive restaurant; the service was almost non-existent. I would not recommend this to anyone expecting the usual courteous elegance of a good Japanese restaurant. The wines by the glass was horrible - no-name expensive plonk."

  • "The food is good as always. I have eaten in a few of this restaurants' locations. But the service and the concept are not good. Someone needs to rewrite and reorganize the menu. Would it be so hard to give every item or at least every category a few words? What does"New style sushi " even mean? categories are written in nobu language only. Not Japanese, not fusion, only nobulanguage. I am in the food/wine business. I like to know what the components are, how/if it is cooked, and what accompanies that Seabass for instance. "New style sushi " above "komomoto oysters" says nothing but "pretentious". Second problem with the restaurant : Waiters should always wait to clear plates until EVERYONE is finished. Period. "

  • "We dined here for a bachelor party (8 guys) and the experience couldn't have been better. After ordering sake and beers, our server was kind enough to offer his selections from the menu. For a large group this was a perfect idea. Even though it's a a bit pricey, the server was mindful of our budget. Once we gave him the green light, the food started coming, and it never seemed to stop - Sashimi Tacos, Yellowtail/Jalapeno Sashimi, Rock Shrimp Tempura, Salmon Tataki, Beef w/Asparagus and Japanese mushrooms, Blackened Cod Lettuce Cups, and a variety of Sushi Rolls and Nigiri to top it all off. Everything was delicious, and one dish after the next, we continued to be overwhelmed by how good everything was. I'd go back in a heartbeat!"

The staff, when asked, did bring the cold appetizers we had requested, but after an hour of no action we had to leave to find real dinner, so no real review possible."

  • "This is a place where my family and I come to spoil ourselves. The bar is raised high and we are never disappointed. The food is amazing the atmosphere is welcoming and the location is prime. Every dish has a signature taste that u will not get anywhere else. We often order the same dish more than once just to experience the 'wow' factor all over again. The staff is knowledgeable about the dishes and always suggests something new for us to try. I always recommend Nobu San Diego to friends and vacationers."

  • "The night we went the staff were all friendly. The service was quick until about 7:30 when the dinner rush hit. The plates were decorated well, but way overpriced for the amount of food you get. Definitely not a place to go if you want a lot of food without spending over $100. Overall, it was a good dinner but probably would only eat here for special occasions of just to grab a quick small bite with a friend."
