A word from Nobu Next Door
Nobu Next Door, which opened as an extension of the original Nobu in 1998, has taken on a life of its own. Its menu mirrors Nobu New York's and offers Nobu To Go. With its late night dining and music, Nobu Next Door tends to draw a more spirited crowd. The restaurant satisfies spontaneous diners who need the Nobu fix, but didn’t plan ahead, by offering first come, first serve table seating between the hours of 7:00pm and 9:00pm. Nobu Next Door received a three star review from The New York Times.

Designed by architect David Rockwell, Nobu Next Door evokes the Japanese seaside: Japanese fishing nets hang from the ceiling and a wall made of nori (Japanese seaweed) blankets the entrance. The large display of lit sake bottles serves as a classic accompaniment to Japanese food. The atmosphere buzzes with the same energy and excitement as Nobu while maintaining an identity of its own.

This is a good alternative to the busy midtown location that has a very vibrant and crowded feel to it. There is no bar here and the atmosphere is more casual. The tables with the sofa seating were a little too close for comfort for us but the food was amazing and the service was very good. We were able to get in and out fairly quick and get the Nobu experience.

Took the kids to an early dinner Friday night in Tribeca at NOBU Next Door. We eat at a NOBU somewhere in the world (Honolulu, New York, London) every couple months...it is consistently fantastic. The Black Cod Miso is out of this world!

The night did not get off to a great start as soon as we walked in the door and was rudely greeted by the hostess. With more than half of the restaurant empty, they tried to sit us in a booth right next to another couple, even though there were SEVERAL empty tables scattered throughout the restaurant. We opted to sit at the sushi bar and watched them do the same to other guests. We expected the food to blow us away - unfortunately it did not. The yellowtail w/ jalepenos and crispy rice were good. The sushi lacked any flavor or originality. The drinks were bland. The service was lacking to say the least. Glad we cross it off out list but will not be back

I first went to Nobu Next Door 6-7 yeasts ago. It was great then and has been every time since. Staff are attentive but not intrusive. Food is always well prepared and tasty. When I'm asked why do I spend extra money for Nobu (don't miss their Miami spot) or Nobu Next Door, the answer is simple: "Because it's worth it: they're better." Definitely worth the effort to get reservations and try this great place!!!

We went here as part of Restaurant Week so that made the menu quite good value, especially considering the name outside the door. The sashimi salad to start was incredibly tasty and the sushi selection main course was really delicious . We also had a California handroll and a spicy tuna roll, both of which were really good. Dessert was also very tasty in the form of chocolate semifreddo. I could have eaten another ten but that's because I'm greedy! It's definitely worth splashing out for an occasional experience.

Our server was knowledgeable and gracious...the space beautiful and subtle. We had the Arctic Charr, Black Cod Miso, Fresh Softshell Crab and two amazing desserts. All of dishes were absolutely outstanding. We went during restaurant week for a test run. We will be back for the Omakase.

the food was outstanding from the appetizer to the main meal to the dessert, but the waitress service lacked response and enthusiasm. Every "thank you" we gave... after placing the order, refilling the water glasses, clearing the table and having our dishes removed with every dish ..... there was no "you're welcome" , my pleasure etc. Dress code states smart casual - diners were in shorts, tee shirts, jeans and sneakers . Besides the service the food was outstanding.

I have been to Nobu before and my experience was great - food, service and ambience. But Nobu Next Door is just a name - I have eaten better quality sushi and Japanese food in local neighborhood restaurants. It was a HUGE disappointment. Never ever I will recommend this place. NY has amazing restaurants so it is not worth overpaying for mediocre food. Stay away!

It was my first time at Nobu Next Door and it will be my last. I guess I expected more with a name like Nobu For starters, the Yellowtail with Jalapeno was very salty. Not only that, but the portion that they serve is really not enough for 2 people to share as an appetizer. It was also served at room temperature! Sashimi should be served chilled for best taste. I've had much better at a much lower price with twice the portion. Next the main course, the Arctic Charr. The fish was cooked well, very moist. However, the saltiness from the soy sauce over powered the flavor of the fish. I have tried many Japanese restaurants and sushi bars up and down east coast, this one is at the bottom of the list.

We went to Nobu Next Door during restaurant week and it was great. Service was slower that I thought but since we had a nice corner table, we didn't mind at all. As for food, Softshell crab Salad was very soft and good balanced with salad. Sashimi Salad was fresh but I thought dressing overpowered salad a bit. But Sashimi itself was really good. I had assorted sushi, which was just OK, nothing special. I should have ordered different dish. My BF had Arctic Charr, which was happily moist inside and crisp outside with a bit of citrus. It was so delicious. Only one disappointment my BF had is "portion", it was small for him, he needed to order another dish before dessert. But overall, we had a wonderful Friday night out.

The room is utilitarian, with tables, chairs and decor that would be at home in any generic NYC restaurant. We expected that the food would reflect a higher than average level of thought and skill. The soft-shelled crab tempura was tasty. However the pan-fried Arctic char was overdone to the point of being dry and the portion was miniscule. Also, the accompanying bowl of white rice was not worthy of any Japanese restaurant, much less one with the name Nobu. The sushi was only average by NYC standards. (Cho Cho San on Eighth Street provides higher quality and more generous portions at much lower prices.) The desserts--ginger panna cotta and chocolate semi-freddo were on the small side. If the Restaurant Week offerings were intended..

Went to Nobu Next Door with my boyfriend and couple of friends for Restaurant Week. Everything about this place was amazing. The decor was gorgeous and understated, the ambience tranquil. Our waitress was very attentive. The food was simply amazing. This is a sushi restaurant, and so the sushi was the best thing off the prix fixe menu. It literally melted in your mouth. The arctic charr and the steak were delightful as well, and the drinks were delicious and powerful. Nothing to complain about at this place. I would definitely come back for a special occasion.

We dined as a party of four and had the Restaurant Week menu. We all had the black cod appetizer which was good, nothing more. This turned out to be the highlight, however. The main dishes came. The sushi was nothing different than any sushi restaurant in NYC serves nowadays and my husband's Arctic char was better but still no wow. The dessert concoctions were odd tasting:the chocolate-lychee combo was disappointing in that no one seemed to realize the chocolate was all at the bottom and the ginger concoction was too tart even for me.

We booked Nobu for dinner, with the only time we could get at 10:30pm. Upon arrival, our order (from the Restaurant Week menu) was taken swiftly. We were then told the kitchen was closing so we would not have the opportunity to order anything else later in our sitting. The entree, main and dessert came out in ridiculously quick succession, so we didn't even have a chance to savour the taste, let alone visit the bathroom. The cheque came during our dessert, and the staff started packing up before we'd even finished our meals! Such a pity - the food was great but the overall experience was extremely disappointing. It appears a 10:30 sitting provides guests with too little time to enjoy themselves - best not offer it at all!

I love sushi and I've had it in Tokyo and all throughout Japan. When I hear a restaurant has quality sushi like that in Japan, I jump at the opportunity. However, Nobu Next Door is not worth it. The sushi was alright. I can go to a place that serves $20 sushi that has the same freshness in quality. The meal did not blow me away. If you love sushi, try this place and be done with it. It's not worth the $300 bill at the end of the night.

After London Nobu, Nobu ND was a bit of disappointment. The decor is under the usual standard (the ceiling is pretty cheap), place is relatively small and lacks vibe from characteristic for Nobu restaurants. We arrived at 7 and it was full of kids the entire time, which would be ok except some were loud and badly behaved. The long bench seat wasnt fixed properly so it rocked whenever anyone moved. There were only 2 undesignated bathrooms which were very unclean. Our order wasnt entirely correct and the food was pretty bad. We had tempura which was alright but no better than any cheap tempura I have had elsewhere and worse than others. We also had meat skewers - the chicken ones were horrible. We left hungry, having paid a huge amount. Maybe Nobu itself is better but I wouldnt count on it.

Having never been there we really didn't know what to order, how to order, what was good, but our amazing waiter Carl walked us through the menu and made suggestions on what to order. We went with all of Carl's suggestions and were not disappointed..... The presentation was great and the food was beyond delicious! Not to mention the amazing staff and romantic atmosphere adding to our dining experience. I highly recommend Nobu Next Door. It was a little pricey, but I believe you get what you pay for and it worth every cent!!!
