A word from Nobu New York
Nobu New York, the flagship restaurant of Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, has been a pioneer for Japanese cuisine since its opening in 1994. Nobu partnered with restaurateur Drew Nieporent and Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro to bring his modern Japanese food to Tribeca. Drawing upon his classical training at sushi bars in Tokyo and his life abroad in Peru, Argentina, and around the world, Chef Nobu is the innovator of new style Japanese cuisine. The resulting dishes include the Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeno, Tiradito Nobu Style, Lobster with Wasabi Pepper Sauce, and Black Cod Miso. The restaurant received three stars from the New York Times and a Michelin star.

Nobu New York's design by architect David Rockwell evokes the beauty of the Japanese countryside with its natural textures, birch trees, wood floors and a wall made of river stones. Energy and excitement pulse through the room, creating a surreal effect.

  • "I have always wanted to eat at Nobu and Restaurant Week made it possible. Our waiter was so nice, had the greatest smile, very attentive. The Black Cod Miso on Limestone Lettuce appetizer was wonderful, I could have just eaten that but needed more it was cooked to perfection. I ordered the Assorted Sushi because even though I like sushi I never know what to order. It was so fresh and delicious. The deserts were divine, one was a perfect panna cotta with a cool citrus deliciousness and the other was a chocolate gelato with shaved flavored ice with topped with green tea powder. We had a great time and the portions were good, thanks Nobu."

The arctic charr was a good choice, compared to the beef, which had totally nothing to say. Even as a girl, I couldn't say I was full after the three course."

  • "We went to Nobu to celebrate my son turning 18, and the restaurant was his choice as a sushi lover. Yet, the menu offered so many inventive and intriguing dishes that we were at a loss to figure out what to order. We asked the waiter to suggest dishes, which he did, brilliantly. Everything that came to our table was extraordinary. Our kids, 18 and 20, were so taken by the reactions my husband and I were haven to the food that they ended up trying everything, (extraordinary in itself!) and getting just as excited as we were. This is the kind of food that makes you wonder what it is that you have been eating up till then. The only wee complaint I have is that the tables could have been just a bit farther apart for patrons and servers alike"

  • "We came here for lunch during Restaurant Week, which, usually, is an iffy experience, especially at high-end restaurants. Typically, menus are less imaginative, the quality of the ingredients is a little less, and the staff are eager to spend more time on diners spending more money. However, the entire staff was amazingly attentive and accommodating, the food was BEYOND delicious (we ended up getting a THIRD prix fixe to split between the two of us,) the atmosphere was refreshing and relaxing, and the drinks were superb. This was a really fantastic experience from beginning to end, and we will definitely be saving up to go back there."

  • "We were about 15 minutes late for our Saturday night 9:15pm reservation, having gotten stuck in NYC traffic. Seated immediately at a spacious booth. Service is always exceptional, and the specials menu was remarkable, with the sea urchin shooter being singularly sublime. Starting with the soba fritters, and finishing with the spicy seafood soup, in-between were halibut cheeks, lobster cerviche, black(squid ink) crispy rice with king crab, and sea bass. Molten lava bento box, and bananas, walnut and ice cream in liqueur were all delicious. It was a 36th birthday celebration my husband enjoyed immensely. Thank you all!"

  • "We've been Nobu regulars for years - NYC, Vegas, London, Melbourne, etc. This was another great "quick meal before a flight". There were some new dishes that really hit the mark beautifully - The Duck Confit in Amaru Ponzu and the Bluefin + Bigeye Tartare most notably. The "usual suspects" were typically great - the Yellowtail Sashimi with jalapeno and ponzu is my wife's favourite. We both thought the Tacos were a bit uninspired and overpriced. Great service to get us in and out in time for the flight. While we love the food in general and will be back repeatedly, there remains some feeling that its overpriced for many of the dishes."

Food was good, especially the oysters!!!!!! Our server James, AWESOME! He was very attentive and cared about our dining experience. James was also very enthusiastic to find out that this was our first visit to NOBU, something I can really appreciate that kind of service in general! Genuine enthusiasm is contagious and vital to a diners experience. Would definitely comeback just for the oysters and James our servers amazingly awesome attitude!"

  • "Loved the food. Our server was excellent (slow out of the gate, but then found the pace) and for the most part we took his excellent advice on what the specialties are. We took our teenage kids with us (this was a vacation in New York trip for us) and we intended to treat ourselves to the Omikase, but the server discouraged us from this and guided us to a very special meal of shared dishes and it ended up being quite a bit less than the Omikase would have been. We had a dry sake that was fantastic and cost about 50 or 60. Loved it - best meal on our 9 day trip. 2nd best was Gato - both just great!"

  • "My sixth experience eating at Nobu and it never fails to be the best. We sampled food from all different sections of the menu--Cold, Hot, Tempura, Kushiyaki, Sushi and dessert. Plates are made to be shared. Different flavors in all courses. Started with a yellowtail sashimi which was light and cool for a Summer night. The tempura is light also and not greasy. I have had the black cod with miso every time I've eaten at Nobu. It literally melts in your mouth. The best thing on the menu. I like Nobu better than Nobu 57. A bit less noisy and a very relaxing atmosphere. I love this restaurant. Very expensive, but worth every penny spent. Great for special occasions."

We ordered 6 dishes in total and ate every single bit on our plate. I highly recommend the signature Cod dish. The service was flawless. All in all an unforgettable experience worth paying for.   • "Brought my wife here for our tenth anniversary. It was short notice but I was able to get the first few 5:45 slots. The cucumber martini was a surprisingly good drink, I highly recommend it. Two other dishes that are musts are the sashimi salad and squid "pasta." A surprising dish was the wagyu sliders, very flavorful. All in all, it was a success especially since my wife enjoyed everything about Nobu. Would definitely go back."

  • "We are Japanese. We ordered Bento Box for lunch which consist of two boxes. The first one was filled by kinds of Japanese food, though they are all too strong taste. But second box was not Japanese. That was fulfilled by kinds of Korean or Chinese food. Furthermore, Miso soup which was not included Bento Box was terrible. That was different flavor and taste from real one. We are very disappointed of the experience, because we went Nobu to eat the food which is introduced to the world as the Japanese cuisine. I think this restaurant does not fulfill it's responsibilities as the existence fighting in the world. Please do not misunderstand Japanese cuisine by only eating at this place."

  • "Took my partner to Nobu for his birthday. He loves sushi and fish. I am vegetarian. The waiter took plenty of time to make recommendations that would meet both our preferences. Btw, I started with a spiced pear martini which was delicious. We shared leeks with miso and yasai maki (mmmmm.) My partner had the sea bass and said it was the best he ever had. I had the mushroom salad which was incredibly flavorful. For dessert we had the banana toban - perfect way to end the meal with a happy birthday message on the plate."
