A word from Nobu New York
Nobu New York, the flagship restaurant of Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, has been a pioneer for Japanese cuisine since its opening in 1994. Nobu partnered with restaurateur Drew Nieporent and Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro to bring his modern Japanese food to Tribeca. Drawing upon his classical training at sushi bars in Tokyo and his life abroad in Peru, Argentina, and around the world, Chef Nobu is the innovator of new style Japanese cuisine. The resulting dishes include the Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeno, Tiradito Nobu Style, Lobster with Wasabi Pepper Sauce, and Black Cod Miso. The restaurant received three stars from the New York Times and a Michelin star.

Nobu New York's design by architect David Rockwell evokes the beauty of the Japanese countryside with its natural textures, birch trees, wood floors and a wall made of river stones. Energy and excitement pulse through the room, creating a surreal effect.

Diner Reviews
  • "The servers were all extremely attentive and the food was just phenomenal. I was extremely pleased with the food and service, and I only wish I could eat there more often! It was a wonderful treat to have my anniversary there, and I can't wait to go back in the future!"

  • "We opted for the chef's selection as recommended by our waitress as we had never dined at Nobu before. The staff were terrific in explaining each dish served and the food was fabulous! Would definitely recommend Nobu."

  • "We are Japanese. We ordered Bento Box for lunch which consist of two boxes. The first one was filled by kinds of Japanese food, though they are all too strong taste. But second box was not Japanese. That was fulfilled by kinds of Korean or Chinese food. Furthermore, Miso soup which was not included Bento Box was terrible. That was different flavor and taste from real one. We are very disappointed of the experience, because we went Nobu to eat the food which is introduced to the world as the Japanese cuisine. I think this restaurant does not fulfill it's responsibilities as the existence fighting in the world. Please do not misunderstand Japanese cuisine by only eating at this place."

  • "Very good service. Diverse menu with many options and a unique flavor. As a professional in the gastronomy field in my country, Colombia, I highly recommend it!!"

  • "Brought my wife here for our tenth anniversary. It was short notice but I was able to get the first few 5:45 slots. The cucumber martini was a surprisingly good drink, I highly recommend it. Two other dishes that are musts are the sashimi salad and squid "pasta." A surprising dish was the wagyu sliders, very flavorful. All in all, it was a success especially since my wife enjoyed everything about Nobu. Would definitely go back."

  • "Highly recommended dishes: New Style Sashimi and Black Cod with Miso Our server was very patient to explain what the dishes are, and what dishes are "must try" Please eat before you go because the portions of the dishes are very small!"

  • "Took my partner to Nobu for his birthday. He loves sushi and fish. I am vegetarian. The waiter took plenty of time to make recommendations that would meet both our preferences. Btw, I started with a spiced pear martini which was delicious. We shared leeks with miso and yasai maki (mmmmm.) My partner had the sea bass and said it was the best he ever had. I had the mushroom salad which was incredibly flavorful. For dessert we had the banana toban - perfect way to end the meal with a happy birthday message on the plate."

  • "Nobu New York is not only a beautiful place, but the service is amazing. Not only was the wait staff very attentive, but the food was exceptional. I went on a Sunday night, quite late and the place delivered. From the champagne selection, to the entree's , main and desert menu, Nobu was the best meal I had in New York...."

  • "I celebrated my girlfriend's birthday at the Nobu's flagship restaurant in TriBeCa choosing Omakase chef's journey through his best dishes and fusion proposals. Oysters, scallops, wonderful tuna, as well as delicious kobe beef. A marvelous voyage inside one of the best interpretations of japanese cuisine. Outstanding, it worths the price."

  • "My husband & I have been going to Nobu over 6 years now and always have a most pleasant experience! The service is excellent and the food is delicious! Our favorites are the Tempura Rock Shrimp, Yellowtail sashimi with jalapeno and the Miso Cod Fish! Don't forget to save room for dessert, because their Bento Box is the best way to end the wonderful dining experience! (Be prepared to spend money for small portions though)"

  • "It was our first experience in Nobu. And we were recommend family style to taste some nobu's special dishes. Everything was super. Desserts also. Next time on New York we'll book a table there again."

  • "Loved the ambience of this restaurant. Service was excellent - attentive and not rushed. Cannot fault the freshness of the produce, however, some of the dishes were a tad salty."

  • "I had lunch in Nobu and the food was surprisingly disappointing. The salmon was dry and did not appear fresh. The inconsistency in standard was quiet apparent since I had visited for lunch the previous week and experienced a delightful dish thoroughly appealing to the eye and the taste. A mark of a quality restaurant is the preparation and the consistency in food quality."

  • "As always, coming to Nobu is like visiting the Grand Canyon for the first time. The ambiance is crisp and clean and the food is second to none. Every dish has been prepared with painstaking artistry. The flavors are incredible, the combinations impeccable and the overall atmosphere is perfect. There is something for everyone and I have two more converts moving away from California Rolls!"

  • "It was an experience that was memorable celebrating my son graduating high school. From the moment we walked in the service was exceptional. Not one item was disappointing and everything was exquisite to the last bite. Looking forward to our next visit. "

  • "Everything was wonderful - the cucumber cocktail, white wine, lunch special and the dessert. The dessert was an unexpected surprise - a shaved ice concoction with strawberry syrup, berries and a surprise scoop of gelato. It was melt in your mouth delicious!"

  • "It's a lovely place to go for food. I can't say enough about the sushi. It's just delish. Although, I didn't really care for the peppered chicken... had a weird mustard taste that I didn't care for... so won't get that one again. However, the sashimi that accompanied it was fantastic. Love the yellowtail with jalapeno app and also enjoyed the chocolate cake for dessert. Our client was thoroughly impressed. Service was a bit slow and fractured."

  • "This was our first time at Nobu and it was well worth the wait. Each member of our group ordered the Omakase chef's tasting and it was outstanding. I was most impressed with the fact that they were willing to tailor to some of my preferences for more cooked items than raw, although each of the raw items I sampled were simply amazing. While we were excited for the Miso Black Cod, it paled in comparison to several other offerings that evening. I cannot say enough about the service, the creativity of plating and the overall amazing experience. And, an amazing sake offering! Well done Nobu!"

  • "First time I was at Nobu New York was a great food experience . But this time it was nothing special at all. We eat the big chef´s choice. So overall this time we where a dissapointment, especially when it is this pricy."

  • "We have heard about the hype of Nobu and were disappointed. The fish was fresh and tasted good, but nothing special in comparison to the sushi we get in California. I was expecting more in terms of ambiance, service etc. especially for the price. Please keep in mind we are foodies so we have high standards"

  • "Nobu downtown is still delicious and so consistent - the food is just delicious and the staff helpful in selections."

  • "Being big foodies, my partner and I were really looking forward to experiencing Nobu New York. Whilst the waiter was a delight and could not have been more charming and helpful, I cannot say the food or atmosphere lived up to the hype. The sushi salad was just acceptable. The lobster Tempura mains was chewy and soggy. However the big treat were the sweets, cocktails and extensive wine selection. The lighting was all overhead, making the restaurant, diners and food look flat and grey. Indirect lighting should have been considered in order to give the restaurant a warm atmosphere, achieving a more harmonious ambience and therefore add to the special dining experience."

  • "Not some place I could afford to go every month, but DEFINITELY worth a visit atleast once in your lifetime (or once a year, whichever suits your budget more). Pricey, but not as bad as I thought. Worth EVERY penny."

  • "The waitress who served us suggested we have the lunch Bento box. And that was a thoroughly good recommendation. We were able to taste 6 of the Chef's specials. Before we went there, we had some recommendations from friends who had already dined at Nobu. The Bento box had 4 of the dishes we were hoping to order. All 6 items were absolutely delicious. "

  • "It was ok. The fish isn't that fresh compared to the nobu in hong kong. Also, for the premimum omakase, the sushi was weak. No toro or uni!? "

  • "A friend recommended that I go to Nobu while in New York to see a friend from Australia who I had,nt seen for 10 years. We ordered the tasting menu , which was 8 courses , all equally delicious . Our Server was so helpfull and gave us a full explanation of each dish. If I am lucky enough to be in New York again I will be sure to go again. "

  • "Highly recommended I have picked it for my birthday dinner. Though the food was very good - service, ambience was not - got the impression we do not belong there, waitress showed halfhearted attempt to please us and for almost nothing we have paid a fortune - all in all overrated and overpriced - disappointing as this was such an important day for me "

  • "We are frequent at Nobu Park Lane London, and expectations were high before visiting Nobu New York, which we heard is the first Nobu restaurant. It started bad - we came early, no table available, and we were asked to wait outside or find a bar in the area. When we came back after 20 cold minutes outside the restaurant, table was available. It was also freezing cold in the restaurant, but one of the staff said 'I will immediately take care of that'. Nothing happened, and we had to put on our coats. Compared with Nobu London, the menu was nothing special. Food was ok, but nothing exceptional neither in flavor nor creativity. Service very slow. First and last time in this restaurant. "

  • "Ridiculously slow and unattentive service. Our waiter spent most of his time chatting up the receptionists (we were seated in the both right behind the front desk), the guys that came out to service the food though were nice and polite. Food Haru on West 43rd much better. Didn't even leave a obligatory American tip that everyone is "supposed" to leave as it was that terrible. Definitely not what I expected this experience to be"
