Nobu Los Angeles opened in the spring of 2008 and was designed by world renowned architect David Rockwell in the famed L'Orangerie space on La Cienega Boulevard. The menu features chef owner Nobu Matsuhisa’s signature dishes such as the Toro Tartar with Caviar, Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeno, and Black Cod Miso.   • "Undoubtedly, the food was great. You can have a bite of the most amazing fusion (Asian+America) food here. But of course, it is outrageously expensive. Guess what? A small piece of wagyu beef would cost you 130 dollars. Believe me, five pieces may be able to fill you up."

We ordered 8 -10 items and enjoyed everything including the flourless chocolate cake with green tea ice cream. I was also happy that my comment regarding my son's birthday was noted by the restaurant without me reminding them when we were there. I recommend Nobu and Open Table!"

  • "This was our first visit to Nobu as we are visitors here and we were looking forward to it. The food lived up to our expectation, it was fresh and delicious. We had a great waiter who gave us some great recommendations and we really enjoyed the choices we made. Definitely worth visiting, not cheap but worth the great food or if you want a special occasion. We noticed lots of families as well with younger children so it's very child friendly which was a pleasant surprise."

  • "Nobu is at the top of my food chain list. My wife and I have visited the one in Las Vegas numerous times and love it. We had some family in town and attended an event in LA. We decided to treat them to a once-in-a-lifetime dinner and were able to get reservations at Nobu. This being our first visit to the LA restaurant, we were a bit disappointed that it wasn't the same grande experience you feel at the Las Vegas one. Food was top notch. Best thing on the menu for non-fish/sushi is their Wagyu Steak. 2 of us liked fish and two of us didn't. Our waiter did a great job bringing things for us to try, as we left the whole evening up to him. All in all a great dining experience.."

As with most sushi portions are not large and if you are really hungry, or want to keep ordering plates it can get quite expensive.   • "Very typical sushi I could've had at any corner sushi bar for 1/2 the price. I also ordered a ribeye steak for $45. I ordered it rare/charred. It came very well done. And was so tiny. A few small slices each (2 of us). I typically don't send food back. It's not how I roll. I just don't go back. The place was near empty yet they chose to seat us at a long shared table instead of a nice 4 top. (We were 2) so they left must of the center if the restaurant unseated instead if giving the few guests they had a nicer dining experience. I prefer privacy over sitting in between strangers who can hear every word and vice versa. I was definitely disappointed traveling from Miami and picking the famous NOBU as one of the two main dinners I had in LA"

Food was good, but I did not find anything super outstanding about it to warrant the very high prices and small portions.The quality of the food is excellent, freshness and presentation. There was no wow factor here on the food. Of course we did not try everything on the menu. My ginger- cucumber martini was OK, I would not of ordered it again- nothing special about it. The manager was excellent about making our change from Sushi Bar to table. But we did notice a lot of empty tables that were never filled. Restaurants always do this as they think their A- listers may show up? But new customers can become A- listers. The manager did a real nice job of accommodating our first time experience."

HOWEVER at 9:05, after spending just over 2 hours at our table and spending $700 plus dollars, a nobu staff member came to our table and said we were over our reservation time and asked us to take our drinks to the bar. Keep in mind, there were still plenty of tables open throughout the restaurant. I was not aware there was a "time limit" for our reservation and would not have gone to nobu knowing that was the case. Additionally I do not plan to go to nobu ever again as a result. Which is a bummer because the food was delicious."

  • "Was so excited to go to Nobu...the one restaurant of the whole trip we were looking forward to. I am from Houston so there are some great restaurants that we regularly dine at. The dishes are way over priced for what you get. I am more than willing to pay the price but the dishes were equal at best to what we eat here for about 50% of the price AND you get less food. Biggest let down of the trip. Service was great, but food was pedestrian...maybe the hopes were just too high."

  • "Incredible dinner we let are waiter decide what we ate everything he brought was unbelievable, food, service and drinks we're amazing the only hick up is when we order are wine they didn't have it anymore so a second server give us a suggestion and told us it would be 60 $ more then the one we had chosen but instead it was really 155 $. But the hole experience in general we superb."

  • "It was my first time here - been to Matsuhisa. Atmosphere is much better here - cool lighting… It was a special occasion for a birthday celebration so it was appropriate. BUT I would not come in any other time. My husband and I have had same if not better sushi in neighborhood places without the outrageous prices. AND for the birthday dessert they just wrote in chocolate Happy Birthday Susan! on the plate…it was $16… They did not serve a small complimentary sweet something for a birthday dessert! And I really don't like when a host/hostess don't smile! - a bit arrogant. Our waiter Peter however was very pleasant and friendly - suggested some good items on the menu. Most important that the birthday girl had a good time!"

  • "We have been to a few of the Nobu's around the world and they all have a few things in common: Great atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff, excellent sushi, and a creative menu. Nobu Los Angeles is no different - everything was the quality we have come to expect. The yellowtail - jalapeño dish is a favorite of ours but on this night, the Live Octopus dish with plum sauce and garlic-chili sauces was my favorite. If you enjoy stopping by the local Nobu when you are traveling, this one is a great addition. "

  • "Nobu is one of my favorite restaurants. I've been going to there for many years now, and plan on going for many years to come. A couple recommendations: First, don't bother with ordering your usual sushi choices. This is a world renown restaurant for it's specialty dishes, so you really should order them. My favorites are Yellowtail jalapeno, live scallop new style, albacore white truffle, wagyu tacos, and king crab tempura. Heavy eaters should order the Beef toban yaki. I also recommend trying Nobu's excellent YK35 Daiginjo sake. Note: Nobu's prices match it's quality, so it is not an inexpensive meal. Menus vary by restaurant, so you may find new and different items depending on where you go."
