Nobu Los Angeles opened in the spring of 2008 and was designed by world renowned architect David Rockwell in the famed L'Orangerie space on La Cienega Boulevard. The menu features chef owner Nobu Matsuhisa’s signature dishes such as the Toro Tartar with Caviar, Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeno, and Black Cod Miso. Nobu Los Angeles also offers local specials like Wagyu Tacos, Seabass Jalapeno Miso and Kanpachi Sashimi with Baby Artichoke and Yuzu Dressing.Continued

  • "Came here for my girlfriend's bday, Kai was our server he was super knowledgeable about the menu and even informed us of a secret menu which he suggested a few items from. The drinks were great, the food was great, the service was great we had a great time; can't wait to go back."

  • "Nobu is one of my favorite restaurants. I've been going to there for many years now, and plan on going for many years to come. A couple recommendations: First, don't bother with ordering your usual sushi choices. This is a world renown restaurant for it's specialty dishes, so you really should order them. My favorites are Yellowtail jalapeno, live scallop new style, albacore white truffle, wagyu tacos, and king crab tempura. Heavy eaters should order the Beef toban yaki. I also recommend trying Nobu's excellent YK35 Daiginjo sake. Note: Nobu's prices match it's quality, so it is not an inexpensive meal. Menus vary by restaurant, so you may find new and different items depending on where you go."

  • "Was so excited to go to Nobu...the one restaurant of the whole trip we were looking forward to. I am from Houston so there are some great restaurants that we regularly dine at. The dishes are way over priced for what you get. I am more than willing to pay the price but the dishes were equal at best to what we eat here for about 50% of the price AND you get less food. Biggest let down of the trip. Service was great, but food was pedestrian...maybe the hopes were just too high."

  • "Food was delicious. Our server was very friendly and helpful. We had a reservation at 7 and were seated right away. HOWEVER at 9:05, after spending just over 2 hours at our table and spending $700 plus dollars, a nobu staff member came to our table and said we were over our reservation time and asked us to take our drinks to the bar. Keep in mind, there were still plenty of tables open throughout the restaurant. I was not aware there was a "time limit" for our reservation and would not have gone to nobu knowing that was the case. Additionally I do not plan to go to nobu ever again as a result. Which is a bummer because the food was delicious."

  • "Incredible dinner we let are waiter decide what we ate everything he brought was unbelievable, food, service and drinks we're amazing the only hick up is when we order are wine they didn't have it anymore so a second server give us a suggestion and told us it would be 60 $ more then the one we had chosen but instead it was really 155 $. But the hole experience in general we superb."

  • "It was my first time here - been to Matsuhisa. Atmosphere is much better here - cool lighting… It was a special occasion for a birthday celebration so it was appropriate. BUT I would not come in any other time. My husband and I have had same if not better sushi in neighborhood places without the outrageous prices. AND for the birthday dessert they just wrote in chocolate Happy Birthday Susan! on the plate…it was $16… They did not serve a small complimentary sweet something for a birthday dessert! And I really don't like when a host/hostess don't smile! - a bit arrogant. Our waiter Peter however was very pleasant and friendly - suggested some good items on the menu. Most important that the birthday girl had a good time!"

  • "We have been to a few of the Nobu's around the world and they all have a few things in common: Great atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff, excellent sushi, and a creative menu. Nobu Los Angeles is no different - everything was the quality we have come to expect. The yellowtail - jalapeño dish is a favorite of ours but on this night, the Live Octopus dish with plum sauce and garlic-chili sauces was my favorite. If you enjoy stopping by the local Nobu when you are traveling, this one is a great addition. "

I should have ordered my own, sharing was difficult. The service was beyond expectations. The food was great, atmosphere was ok but the service guarantees my return for fine dining."

  • "We arrived early, had collected our friends from their hotel in Marina Del Ray, it was their 28th Wedding Anniversary. From the moment we arrived everyone was attentive and friendly, valet, hostess, bar staff and our waiter. We had a cocktail in the lounge before being seated, delicious. Everything on the menu looked so good we weren't sure where and what to start with, our waiter made some excellent suggestions, every dish was amazing and tasty, I especially loved the salmon taco and the scallops in wasabi pepper sauce. We tried lots of dishes and not one thing was criticized, end surprise was the bill, was expecting it to be way more. Will be going back for sure."

  • "Man, was super disappointed in this la nobu, Malibu nobu's service far greater. Food was ok. We had: Pork belly-good Ocean trout with baby artichokes-great Sushi Salmon skin hand roll-terrible California roll-terrible, the imitation crab meat version taste just as good House special roll- nothing special Service was terrible-our waiter was good in the beginning, but as 11 pm approached he disappeared. Left our bill with us and we were ready to pay and he was no where to be found. Next time I want sushi I'll go to my usual sasabune in Beverly Hills! "

  • "I cannot even begin to explain how special the staff at Nobu made our anniversary. Not only was the food absolutely mouthwatering, but the service we received is unmatched. They even knew about our anniversary thanks to their "comments" section on Open Table, and brought us a surprise free-of-charge dessert with a candle. I have never had a better dining experience or food in my life. Very elegant, delicious, perfectly portioned meals with the freshest seafood around!"

  • "Love the food. Hate the Service. Really bad experience. Waiter was completely unattentive. I have been to Nobu Malibu, Nobu Hard Rock in Vegas, Matsuhisa and Nobu Caesars. This was by far the worst service I have ever had at a Nobu. Given the prices, I expect good service. If I have to wave my hand two separate waiters for one request (fill my tea pot) that's really bad. I compare Nobu to Shibuya in Vegas which has comparable food, better ambience, cheaper prices and much, much better service. Fix this. Your food isn't good enough to tolerate this level of service on a long term basis."

  • "Beginning of service was attentive but dropped off to mediocre within 30 minutes. Server was not to be found and did not give us his full attention when he did arrive to our table. Drink refills took 25 minutes. We had 8 in our party and the consensus on food was 50/50, some good dishes others not worth reordering again. Server was pushy as he emphasized the most expensive dishes and attempted to up the dish count every time we ordered. Disappointed with the sushi. We were expecting to be wowed yet found it not spectacular. It was good, but at those prices we expected more. Comparable restaurants such at Sushi Roku, Katsuya, Matsuhisa, etc are my recommendations if you just want sushi. Expect to pay at least $100 per person."

In Fact most dishes were superb including the Sweet Shrimp (Scampi), Yellowtail with Jalapeno, Pork Belly and the traditional Sushi was excellent quality. Our Server recommended most dishes and nailed it. I have been to the NY restaurant and this is a little better, can't wait for one to open up in Sydney."
