Diner Reviews
  • "Very underwhelmed by the food! We dined here for my mom's 50th birthday and we were surprised by how uninspired and unimpressive our meals were - and we had at least 10 different things. I'm from Austin and am used to being spoiled by fantastic restaurants like Uchi. This was not on par at all, especially not for the price. It seems like this is the place everyone thinks they're supposed to love, but it just doesn't live up to the hype."

  • "$ not for the faint of heart, but fabulous food in a beautiful room with great service"

  • "I enjoyed the food very much ! Great groupon special if you like to try a variety of different foods."

  • "I always frequent Nobu. The past couple times their service has been off a bit. They have multiple people working your table rather than one waiter which just gets confusing and causes service to be off. I really do enjoy Nobu's food, but honestly I am beginning to get fed up with the service that isnt up to par and matching the level of restaurant this is."

  • "I've heard rave reviews about Nobu in the past but was underwhelmed. I took my wife there for a nice birthday dinner but the noise level was very high and it was hard to have a conversation. This was a Monday night so I would expect there to be some element of quiet to the restaurant. Also, the menu was lacking in options and descriptions. The food tasted fine but just overall was an unimpressive evening."

  • "The food was good but not memorable - the staff however was beyond excellent. Everyone was kind, even though we were there using a Groupon. The staff knew it was my bf's birthday and came out with dessert and candle for him. Overall, I'd return."

  • "This is our second visit. First time was restaurant week, so so. This time we tried the 6-courses chef menu, includes yellow tail sashimi, salmon sashimi, squid pasta, wyagu? beef, tuna and salmon rolls and espresso foam ice-cream. Portion was just right. Sashimi was fresh. Beef was perfectly seared. Great service and atmosphere, will be back."

  • "The food was memorable and the service was the best we've ever received!"

  • "The food was outstanding and our waitress did an excellent job of describing the fusion of Japanese and Peruvian influences on the food. Service was excellent and the restaurant offers a great atmosphere."

  • "The food and service is excellent. Attention to details is impressive. Every visit is always perfect. Manager follow-up after every dinner is a wonderful gesture."

  • "The food at Nobu is perfectly prepared and delicious. The atmosphere and the wait staff don't equate with the food which makes the experience less than it should be."

  • "Waitress kept disappearing - took about 20 mins to get our drinks at each round we ordered."

  • "The food is amazing along with the sake selection. Be prepared to pay for it though, the wagyu will set you back $32 per ounce with minimums ranging from 2-6oz. But lets face it, you're dining at world famous 'NOBU' ... biggest disappointment was the service. Not worth getting into details but I'll just say this, as amazing as the food was I have no plans on returning. When you're spending $150+ per person you expect a full 5 star experience, not just half. I've received better service in McDonalds drive thru. My advice, take your money over to Fearing's at the Ritz."

  • "Great food, service and atmosphere. We went on a Wednesday and it was very busy, but the service was still great!"

  • "First, I will start off saying that Nobu's food is AMAZING! However, when you are spending the money that you do for the food that you get, you expect a certain level of service to go along. I hosted a bachelorette party here and our service was terrible. We had to wait almost 1.5hrs to get our food & there were a couple of us who got our food way before everyone else. It ended up that some were finished eating before others had even received their 1st course. When you are in a group, you should all get your food at the same time or close to each other. We then had to wait almost another 30-45min to get our check and for everyone to pay. As much as I love the food, I honestly don't know if I would go back based on that experience"

  • "Server explains menu and that chef prefers you order in a certain order. We wanted sushi rolls and they brang last. And they were half the size and tasteless."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "The service was very slow. The food was expensive and not as great as I was hoping."

  • "I am on a quest to eat at all the Nobu's around the world. Love them all. We had two birthdays and received a special desert it was fantastic. Wine, food, service, green tea. Fabulous"

  • "The food are not that great for the price, it is more on location, but then a total disappointment for I thought a classy place to celebrate a special occasion. Two woman came in wearing a Tank top and a shorts that looks like they just finish jogging. Me and my husband was celebrating our 28 years Wedding Anniversary, choose Nubo thinking it will be classy and romantic. Totally NOT! Not coming back..."

  • "Our best Nobu experience since Aspen in 1999! Dishes were served individually, all at the appropriate temperature. Our waiter William, from Lima, Peru, was instrumental in the selection and timing of the meal which included some old favorites as well as new creations. Flavors were innovative and zesty, such as the soft shell crab with watermelon salsa and the tempura king crab with jalapeño."

  • "This is one of my all time favorites in Dallas. We are so fortunate to have them here. I crave it and go back and back and back. The menu is big and unique. Branch out and try a lot of dishes to share."

  • "My husband and I left with the opinion that we were underwhelmed and that the place was over-rated. To be fair we only had the sushi, so I cannot speak on the other parts of the menu. Our order was miniscule, but I guess that's expected at a place like this. That would'nt have been so bad if the sushi was amazing, but it just wasn't. The service was very friendly though. Not planning on returning anytime soon..."

  • "Always a place we keep in mind for special occasions, Nobu never disappoints when it comes to the food. We started with uni and oyster shooters, and seafood ceviche. Loved it all. Sea bass and Alaskan black cod were beautifully prepared and the word delicious is not enough. And we now always ask for the Mateo roll. I could personally eat it daily and be happy. Our service started a little slow and disjointed, but our server Mike stepped it up and turned out to be very pleasant to work with. He knew the menu well and was very polite and friendly. The sushi chefs accommodated a special request by my Japanese mother, and she was ecstatic. My only issue: I wish they would enforce the dress code a little better. No cut off shorts."

  • "Best sushi in town, seriously. But, something smells in there; we think it is the cleaning solution. The menus smell weird too. I know that's sounds ridiculous, but see if you notice. It would be great if the restaurant were half the size too, like Nobu Vegas. Service is fair. Watch out for the wine list - we ordered a Cali red from 2010 and they brought 2011 (terrible vintage) so beware. We will keep going back though because the food is way too good."

  • "My wife and I went to Nobu for our 30th wedding anniversary. As we typically do, we asked the waitress to feed us. She asked if we wanted to try the "premium" dishes, and we went for it. Every course, cold and hot, was absolutely delicious. The premium dishes were well worth it. One of the best meals we've experienced - anywhere."

  • "Food was outstanding, best it's ever been of all the times i've been to nobu...server disappeared for 20/30/40 minutes at a time, made it hard to order as we ate and to refill our cocktails"

  • "We ordered the Signature Tasting Courses 1-4 & 8...5 stars 1- Toro Tartar with Caviar - I normally don't eat any tartar but I'm a fan! 2- Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalepeno - I love the combination 3- Artichoke Salad - Joe our waiter said it's something new they were trying...put it on the menu! My husband said he could have had this as his main entre. 4- Rock Shrimp Tempura with Schichimi Ponsu - The shrimp was perfectly cooked and the creamy spicy sauce is delicious! 5- Broiled Alaskan Black Cod with Miso...4.5 stars- slightly overcooked but great flavor! 6- Sushi Plate...3.5 stars - compared to the other courses this was disappointing. I did not care for the Tamago 7- Miso Soup 4 stars 8- Miso Cappuccino and Mochi Ice Cream YUM!"

  • "Had a great time dining with friends and celebrating a 17 year wedding anniversary. Luis is great! When we dine at Nobu Dallas we go for the "Server Special" and allow Luis to pick and choose the best dishes off of the menu, many that are not on the menu. The support staff is awesome too! They made us a special drink that we all enjoyed similar to a moscow mule. Thank you for a great time!!"

  • "Most restaurants seem to be able to do only one of the above. Great food, poor service or the opposite. That is why we enjoyed our dinner so much. The food was delicious and very creative with a a sense of adventure. Then our service was superb and again we had a great waitstaff.. Most importantly we can't wait until we go again because it was just a tip of the iceberg of what they offer"

  • "I try and get into Nobu every time I am in Dallas. Often, I get lucky and sit at the sushi bar without a reservation. The food is outstanding from sushi to tempura to the awesome small cold dishes. Love the yellowtail tartar and of course the black cod dish. Can't wait to come back for more."

  • "This review is coming from someone who has been to Nobu many times in multiple cities and has never had a less than fantastic experience. This past visit was abysmal. The food was several notches below what one would expect at even the most average of Japanese restaurants but came at a significant multiple of the price. In addition, the service left much to be desired and led to an unacceptable experience. I understand that the executive chef recently left for Nobu Waikiki, but there is no excuse for what was served for nearly $300 this past Saturday. I would strongly encourage anyone to think twice before frequenting Nobu Dallas in the future."
