Diner Reviews
  • "Most restaurants seem to be able to do only one of the above. Great food, poor service or the opposite. That is why we enjoyed our dinner so much. The food was delicious and very creative with a a sense of adventure. Then our service was superb and again we had a great waitstaff.. Most importantly we can't wait until we go again because it was just a tip of the iceberg of what they offer"

  • "We ordered the Signature Tasting Courses 1-4 & 8...5 stars 1- Toro Tartar with Caviar - I normally don't eat any tartar but I'm a fan! 2- Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalepeno - I love the combination 3- Artichoke Salad - Joe our waiter said it's something new they were trying...put it on the menu! My husband said he could have had this as his main entre. 4- Rock Shrimp Tempura with Schichimi Ponsu - The shrimp was perfectly cooked and the creamy spicy sauce is delicious! 5- Broiled Alaskan Black Cod with Miso...4.5 stars- slightly overcooked but great flavor! 6- Sushi Plate...3.5 stars - compared to the other courses this was disappointing. I did not care for the Tamago 7- Miso Soup 4 stars 8- Miso Cappuccino and Mochi Ice Cream YUM!"

  • "Food was outstanding, best it's ever been of all the times i've been to nobu...server disappeared for 20/30/40 minutes at a time, made it hard to order as we ate and to refill our cocktails"

  • "Amazing, inventive menu; Nobu Matsuhisa is a legend. Nobu Dallas has chic atmosphere, can get crowded, service is still fast and efficient."

  • "Highly recommend the tasting menu. My wife and I have had gastric bypass surgery and this was the best meal we have had post surgery. Just enough food and super high quality."

  • "We dine at nobu 57 in nyc, and the food is outstanding. No but Dallas did not compare to that at all. Also, the food was very sour and very salty!"

  • "I try and get into Nobu every time I am in Dallas. Often, I get lucky and sit at the sushi bar without a reservation. The food is outstanding from sushi to tempura to the awesome small cold dishes. Love the yellowtail tartar and of course the black cod dish. Can't wait to come back for more."

  • "Nobu remains excellent for Japanese fusion cuisine, but the sake list has been narrowed to feature only Nobu selections. This is unfortunate, damaging of the overall experience, and inconsistent with the price point of this restaurant. Even with the limited list, our server was still ignorant about the sake and its flavor and aroma profile. Shame on Nobu for this."

  • "This review is coming from someone who has been to Nobu many times in multiple cities and has never had a less than fantastic experience. This past visit was abysmal. The food was several notches below what one would expect at even the most average of Japanese restaurants but came at a significant multiple of the price. In addition, the service left much to be desired and led to an unacceptable experience. I understand that the executive chef recently left for Nobu Waikiki, but there is no excuse for what was served for nearly $300 this past Saturday. I would strongly encourage anyone to think twice before frequenting Nobu Dallas in the future."

  • "We're retired and don't go out as much as we used to when we were working - but wanted to do something different and special for my wife's 62nd birthday. She loves Japanese. The wait staff was excellent by explaining to us the traditional sequence of Japanese dining. The first two courses were absolutely excellent. The last course - sushi/sashimi was very much below expectations. The California roll was mediocre, at best. My wife loves sashimi so ordered a double order of tuna. It was mushy and tasteless. We were VERY disappointed in the sushi/sashimi course. From our experience, that course is not what Nobu specializes in. If we come again, we will skip that course and double up on the other two courses!"

  • "It has been while since we dined in here last time. We enjoyed the food and service and we think it is still good restaurant. We will come back to here for another special occasion. We chose 'omakase' course as we did before (I believed we always picked the same 'omakase') but we had less surprises than before although they tasted great."

  • "Nobu, as usual, was exceptional. You can never go wrong eating at any of the Nobu restaurants!! After we had our usual dishes ( jalapeño tuna, black cod and tempura crab) we asked our waiter for recommendations. Additional 3 dishes were terrific- just can't remember their names! ( one lobster, one sort of spicy roll and something served on crushed ice!)"

  • "Went here with my boyfriend (we're both out of town guests) and had very high expectations for the food based on other reviews. Maybe it's because I was expecting way too much, but I was not impressed to say the least. The sashimi was good, but not the best. The rolls were subpar. There was one roll we ordered (forgot the name of it) in which my first reaction was to spit it it (I refrained from doing so and managed to swallow it) but I lost my appetite afterwards. It had a very strong fishy odor which is unacceptable at this price point. The Chilean sea bass tasted great; however, it was tad bit overcooked. Service and drinks were slow. Kata Robata and Uchi in Houston are far more superior in freshness, taste, and innovative dishes."

  • "We went for a Valentines night dinner and had a great time. Most items are served family style and so it was great to be able to order items and share with my husband. The drinks we had were great, and our favorite item was dessert- Banana Harumaki. The smaller tables for 2 are placed close to one another. This didn't bother us, and I couldn't hear any conversations next to us, but we saw a couple request a more private table once they got there and saw where they were seated. So, if you want more privacy maybe ask ahead of time when reserving a table."

  • "You would think if you are going to spend $300 on dinner for 2, you might see your server more than twice. Good sushi , but that's it......it's good I didn't say incredible. Not worth the money."

  • "FABULOUS SUSHI....BUT, we left hungry after spending $95 per person on chef choice tasting menu. Previously, we were there in November a enjoyed the $65 per person on the signature menu and were pleasantly fed. It was the best sushi we've ever had, but there was not enough food and too much time in between portions. Waiter brough the incorrect drink...blah blah blah."

  • "Not only was the food amazing, the presentation, ambiance and service provided us with a memorable birthday dinner experience. If you can do the tasting, its totally worth it... This is especially true if you (or your guest) is not that familiar with Asian cuisine."

  • "We visited Nobu on a Sunday night knowing it would be slower. One thing that is amazing is their ability to have the absolute freshest sushi, an extensive selection and a unique mix of flavors. They are in a league of their own and not really comparable to what we've come to expect in sushi restaurants in the US. How do they do it? so fresh with such selection... Fantastic!"

  • "We have noticed a pattern at Nobu. The food is consistently tasty and innovative, but the service is miserably slow. We figured out to order a drink before you really wanted it, because the wait was ridiculous. The server was nice and understanding, but the excuse is always the same, "we just got slammed,". For the price, the food is on spot-on, but the service definitely needs some work."

  • "Service was awful, no drinks or food for over an hr, got the Nobu Chef's Experience for two, very overpriced for the course and the way it was presented, It was either a very off night or Nobu has gone down hill."

  • "My husband and I love delicious food, especially sushi, and we definitely enjoy nice restaurants, however, the clientele at Nobu the night we visited detracted from our overall experience. This is Dallas money on display. Bespoke sport coats and knee-high leather boots, lots of gold and diamonds and cashmere overcoats. To be expected at this price point and location, I suppose, but not our favorite atmosphere. The seared Alaskan Cod, which is one of their signature items, was a bit slimy and overly sweet for my taste. A specialty tuna roll our server recommended was really delicious, but it's not on the permanent menu. The California roll we tried was just so-so. We'll keep looking for the perfect sushi restaurant!"

  • "Being single and 43 isn't easy. Online dating, blind dates, church groups - you name it. I (finally) connected with a great lady on eHarmony from Dallas. I'm in Houston... We had fun trading email, fun on the phone. I made a gamble and made reservations at Nobu Dallas and drove up to meet her. Nobu was a fantastic place for a date like this. Great energetic atmosphere, supremely good food, and perfectly attentive service. The off menu specials were world class, our waiter was patient with us taking awhile to order, the wine list was great... Just a fantastic experience. Such a nice time made for an easy first date for something that's now a new beginning. Thank you."

  • "We spend NYE dining at Nobu, and it was the perfect way to end the year. The chef's tasting menu was outstanding. We were expecting tiny portions, but by the 3rd course we were filling up fast. The sushi was perfect (and covered in gold leaf). The steak was melt-in-your-mouth good, and the combination of flavors was outstanding. Our service was good even on a busy holiday night, and when we asked to speed up our courses to attend our next event, they happily obliged. Would recommend to anyone looking for a special occasion or romantic dinner. We love Nobu!"

  • "This was the best sushi experience we have ever had! Everything was incredible! Exceptional food & service. We will definitely go again when we come back to Dallas, and will seek out his other restaurants when we travel. This would definitely be our favorite place if it were in Houston - come on down here!"

  • "Second time eating at Nobu and the food IS all that! Started with the tuna tartar with caviar, which was sumptuously rich. The sushi rolls were as good as expected, however the unagi was amongst the best I've ever had. My wife had the black cod, spectacularly prepared, yet simply served, and I had the sea bass, also simply served. Generous pieces of fish, perfectly prepared. Concluded dinner with the banana hama ... something or other which was very hot, yet very tasty, with a passionfruit dipping sauce that was the perfect amount of sweet and tart. Service left something to be desired; plates never cleared, not timely on drink refills, table top support in general didn't seem like it was up to the level of a 5 star resto."
