Diner Reviews
  • "This restaurant is attached to the Crowne Plaza Hotel, so when you walk in, it smells of chlorine from the pool area and also, there are people dining in far more casual clothes than they probably would if it were on its own property. Not the restaurant's fault, just a comment. As soon as we sat, water was brought over and we were asked for our drinks order. There were three menus: the wines by the bottle list, the cocktail and dessert wines list, and then your regular food menu. The wines by the glass menu is included in the regular food menu, so I feel like the server should point that out. We weren't ready to order drinks immediately after we sat and then we didn't see our server for almost 20 minutes. Food, however, was amazing!"

  • "We found this restaurant for my husband's birthday. It is tucked away in a spot where you wouldn't think to look for it. But, the food was absolutely wonderful! My hubbie had the filet and I had the beef wellington. Everything was lovely. The wine list was amazing. The service was very good too. We weren't rushed at all, like a lot of other places that you go. It is a very romantic setting. I saw a few other reviews that said that the restaurant was dark. I wouldn't agree. It was, however, intimate and romantic. We will definitely be returning and we highly recommend!!"

  • "Well, for what you pay for the food, it really wasnt work it. my steak was chared, had a burnt taste to it and it really wasnt worth the $46 a steak to eat there. And as for this place having prime meat, well I believe that I can cook a much better steak myself. My cowboy ribeye was very tough and that was the last thing I thought I would get. Also, the waiter was stiff and didnt really seem to know what he was doing. Overall, I will never visit this place again."

  • "I took some colleagues to dinner at this restaurant and was blown away by the food, service, wine list and atmosphere. Our waiter was excellent and anticipated all of our needs in advance. The atmosphere was very nice and dessert was out of this world. I highly recommend this as a first choice and don't be fooled by its location it is first rate,"

  • "I went here for an anniversary dinner and had a great experience. The waiter took care of us, our drinks were never empty, and the food was fantastic. We ordered a special appetizer (calamari) and our entrees were the Signature (filet mignon and lobster pot pie) and the Porterhouse with a side of sweet potatoes. We did not drink any wine, so I can't comment on the wine list except to say that the list was quite extensive. I read a previous review about the lighting in the restaurant being too dark, but I think the low-light setting is appropriate and did not bother us. It's expensive, but the quality of food and service is worth the price. All in all, this restaurant is an excellent place for a quiet, romantic dinner."

  • "I loved it! However, my husband's steak had to be sent back - chef came out and apologized, but "tone" of the meal was interrupted"

  • "I took my family here because of the positive reviews, yet left very upset. The $48 steak was possibly the worst I have ever had, the service that I recieved was sub par, although I must admit I overheard several other serves who appeared far more competent. Additionally the appetizer salad was a joke, something that I would expect to come out of an Applebee's, not a chop house. Further more the ambience was strange for the resturant was located inside of a hotel which reeked of chlorine. The fact that I left the resturant hungry, the poor service I recieved and strange atmosphere would prevent me from recommending or even mention this establishment."

  • "This was my first time trying this place. It was great for a romantic birthday dinner. The food was great! I will go back again for another special occasion."

  • "Everything was done really really well. the only knock was that the medium rare steak I ordered was done to medium. Not the end of the world, but that caused it to go from 5 to 4 stars."

  • "According to the waiter he ordered my coke but nobody brought it out, ok accidents happen, but it took 3 trips to my table for anyone to realize? Also told waiter that my wife's meal must be gluten free. Again, according to the waiter he told the kitchen that it was gluten free, but her sweet potatoes came out covered with granola? By the time they got it corrected we were done eating. She literally did not take a bit of her sweet potatoes. Now to be fair they didn't charge us for the sweet potatoes, but we didn't come there to get free potatoes, we came for a romantic, pleasant, complete meal, instead she got a partial meal, and sweet potatoes to take home? Last issue was your buss boy nearly spilling both our drinks on us."

  • "We have frequented No. VI for years for special occasions. Despite the high cost, the overall experience was well worth it. Our last meal was a big disappointment. All three of our meals (we are always the same three at dinner) were surprisingly bad-- no longer worth the high price and doubtful we will reprise our dining experience here."

  • "We went out to the Chophouse for my birthday and were seated at the first table as you walk in the door. We were immediately served water and our waiter Josh came over to take our drink order. We received our drinks in a timely manner and ordered our soups and dinner. In the meantime, an obviously well known gentleman and his family came into the restaurant and were seated right next to us. After that, it was as if we did not exist. Food was brought out (and was fantastic!), but there was absolutely no attention paid to our table after the group next to us was seated. Extremely disappointing for us. I would recommend the Chophouse for the food, but not the service."

  • "Spent anniversary here with wife and friends. Great experience overall. Very disappointed they ran out of porterhouse steaks....at a steakhouse no doubt, but food was great otherwise."

  • "The food was great. Had filet mignon and lobster, both prepared very well. Very detailed wine list and great desserts. Also enjoyed the mac & cheese as a side dish and was magnificant. Be sure to add the candied bacon to it to top it off well."

  • "We were able to make reservations at the last minute to dine the same evening. It was my birthday dinner. We found many tempting dishes to try, but will have to return to make that happen. Being from Michigan we are usually robbed on the option for really, truly, fresh, good seafood. We both ordered the prawns which were exceptional. As an entre I ordered the scallops which did not disappoint. They were cooked perfectly. Our dessert was fabulous and they accommodated us to make it a "dessert to go". As a foodie and chef, this restaurant is truly a "hidden gem". I could not have asked for a more special evening with wonderful food and atmosphere ..."

  • "The No. VI Chophouse was a great find. My mother had read about it and suggested we try something new (for us) in the area. We had a wonderful dinner there! Her Veal and Lobster Oscar was rich with big pieces of lobster adorning the top of the veal. Really a nice presentation. My Duck Breast was perfect. Also enjoyed the spinach, apple and bacon salad and Maryland Crab Cakes as an appetizer. The wait staff was attentive but not overbearing. A good balance."

  • "NoVI Chophouse, is my favorite steak house in Michigan. They have the best steaks in my opinion. And the service is always great. Our waiter Todd, who has waited on us several times before was as always excellent. We will be back again soon."

  • "Met a friend here for dinner. Neither of us had ever been. It was nice and quiet - perfect for friends to talk for hours and catch up. The food was excellent - from the bread to the end. Wish we has started with dessert so we could have tried it. Between us, we had lobster tail, steak with crab topper, asparagus and au gratin potatoes. Wow!! My fiancée ate all the leftovers as soon as I walked in the door. I am sure we will be back soon!"

  • "While it's definitely not a spot for everyday dining, the No. VI Chophouse is a foodies' dream and is the perfect spot for a special occasion or romantic evening. The menu is diverse and fresh, without being trendy or ridiculous. The food is excellently prepared and carefully served. We have never had a bad meal there, and, in fact, have had quite a few good ones. To me, a visit isn't complete without their Morel Mushroom Bisque. They have a long list of "by the glass" wines, as well as a fully-stocked bar and a very nice wine list. You won't have room for dessert, but , one after one look at the mouthwatering display, you will order it anyway. The service is excellent, quiet and paced."

  • "We had a small group for dinner. Our waiter was outstanding and the food was the way it is usually at No. VI--about the best in the arfea. You have to go to France for something better for a place to celebrate with your wife, family and friends.d"

  • "Ate here on New Year's Eve expecting a fabulous meal. We had eaten here in March 2013 and both our meals exceeded our expectations. Not this time. Except for the mushroom bisque that spouse had, food was mediocre. The haricot vert that accompanied my lobster tails tasted old, and the tails were salty and over-seasoned. Sent them back, and the replacements were okay. Caesar salad was so-so. Probably won't be coming here again."

  • "Having an anniversary during the holiday season has proven to be challenging from a food prep, selection and service quality viewpoint. The No. VI Chophouse delivered on all fronts. Our respective entrees ( filets ) were prepared to order and accordingly, all appetizers, salads and sides were as anticipated. We don't often order dessert, but the key lime pie ( spilt ) was definately worth the extra time at the gym the following day. Service was impeccible. Our waiter was able to deliver the appropriate balance of attentive, yet not overbearing service. We'll be back more than once a year!!"

  • "Ordered the 24 oz porterhouse i ordered it medium and it came blood red sent it back and by the time i got it back my wifes was done eating her lobster tails not to mention the steak was not very good at all didnt have any seasoning on it and they boxed up what was left and didnt even put the bone in box which had lots of meat still on it and they didnt even offer any free desert or anything to make up for the steak being under cooked i wouldnt recommend this place for the porterhouse it dont seem like they know how to cook it i would rather go to outback or texas roadhouse !!!"

  • "This place used to be such a special event for us. We actually have to plan and save up money for this place. This time, we got the waiter that looked like he forgot to groom before he came to work. There were workers going past our table every 2 minutes staring and just waiting for an empty dish to take away and then they would scrape a crumb away if it fell even though we were taking bites of our food All this going on while we were eating and TRYING to have a conversation. I was thoroughly disappointed with that and although my scallops we're delish, the fries were cold and the "wedge salad" was the smallest wedge I have Ever seen! $120.00 later!, I guess we will be saving up for a better place next time :("

  • "I ordered a medium rare strip loin and I received a well done strip loin. I sent it back to the kitchen and they sent out another strip loin that was well done on the outside and blue rare (cold) on the inside. It was tough and I only ate 1/2 of it. Very disappointed in the restaurant. I have been to this location twice and I will not return."

  • "Our waiter Louie was fantastic. Energetic, postive, seemed happy to be there. However, it stopped there. The food for the money just was not that good. Wedge salad was missing ingredients, drinks were not made properly, steak was defintely overcooked, for the money I would not come back would rather go to Flemings (similar menu in food options and price). Quality was better when place was in the other hotel across the street it seems."
