Diner Reviews
  • "Wonderful as always. Prune gnocchi are still good. Scallops were the essence of seafood. Salad tasted as if the greens had just been picked. Duck was perfect. And the cheese course had lots of unusual selections."

  • "I've been going to No.9 Park for many years for a reason: it's always wonderful. I'm never disappointed. I will continue to frequent No. 9 Park as long as it's in operation."

  • "Most restaurants require all parties to a table to do the tasting menu if one party decides to do it. I was pleasantly surprised that they allowed my husband to enjoy the tasting menu while I partook in the prix fixe menu. My favorite dish was the Corn Agniolette, which was a burst of sweet and salty flavors. We each had one halibut dish and I thought the fish was a little overcooked, and mine was bland. My husband had the chocolate mousse, while I had the ricotta cheesecake for dessert. Both were tasty. The service was excellent - our waitress was really peppy and had great energy. She gave us great recommendations. It is expensive, and I enjoyed my meal, but honestly, I would try many other restaurants before coming back here."

  • "N0. 9 Park is such a great place! We've been a number of times, and always left feeling so happy we went! Fabulous food! Fantastic staff! Great location! 10's across the board!"

  • "We had the Chef's Tasting with wine pairings (9 courses). While the wine pairings were incredible, a few of the dishes were only ok. We loved the gnocchi, foie gras, tortellini and dessert (ricotta cheesecake), but the other dishes fell short. The halibut had the best sear I've seen but was sent back because it was undercooked. The second try at it was just dry. Same with the duck and sirloin dishes. Great sear and appearance was wonderful, but dry and tough to cut. The service was good. Every server chips in to make sure all guests are taken care of. However, I think the servers give over the top, almost absurd descriptions at times, for the wine. Overall ok. A bit overhyped for the price."

  • "I took my wife to Boston to see a concert at Fenway and No 9 Park was a special treat prior to going. The food is outstanding. I'd mention a particular dish but they are all great. The drink menu has some real fun with both the creation of and the naming of drinks. Past that, the service was as good as I've ever had. Truly a great start to a fantastic evening."

  • "We had a great experience. We would highly recommend the Chefs wine & tasting menu."

  • "My fiance had called ahead to let them know we would be celebrating our engagement. By the way we were treated, you would have thought we were royalty. The staff took incredible care of us, giving us the perfect balance of privacy and service. We were immediately greeted with champagne and seated at a beautiful table by the window overlooking the commons. We indulged in the 6 course tasting menu, which was very well balanced - each dish bursting with complex flavors. The staff was very hospitable, knowledgeably, and couldn't do enough for us. Our dessert was presented with beautiful chocolate calligraphy "Congratulations" on the plate. It was truly the perfect celebratory dinner and one we won't forget."

  • "The tasting menu with wine pairing was spectacular, for a special occasion, go for it! The service was attentive and well coordinated, we'll paced and just all around a great evening!"

  • "We arrived to Boston with high expectations to dine again at the restaurant. We hav dine here 2 years ago. We came from Israel and hoped to have the same experience and convinced our local friends here to join us. But unfortunately we were so disappointed. We ordred the tasting menu and with every dish we got we thought maybe the next one would be better. The food though was presented nicely the flavor was flat and the ingredients were not complementing one another the seasoning was poor and thevtaste dull. In the overall we spent a lot of money and received very little in return."

  • "For a cheapish bistro, the food and place was ok. But for the given prices, it was a pretty poor restaurant. Sloppy but friendly service and the food was less than impressive. In fact it was not very well presented, balanced or well made. The table ware was worn and the interior shabby. Never again."

  • "yes, they always have some very interesting mix of food, spring herbs, different textures. prices have gone up and you get a little less. but overall it was excellent experience. wish they had nicer wines from california. french wines are ok, but they do not have the variety of wines needed for the food at a better price. special occasion for sure. will be back."

  • "We visited Boston this past weekend for a romantic getaway (with no kids). We came across No 9 Park and got a reservation for Saturday night. We both had the prix-fixe dinner. My wife had the tortellini and the duck while I had the tuna carpaccio and the halibut. The food was prepared to perfection. We consider ourselves foodies and we both remarked how our dinner was one of the best we've had in a long, long time. Our server Kam was great. He knew the menu inside and out and made great suggestions for wine pairings. We told the restaurant we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and my birthday in the hopes we would have a table by the window. Kam surprised us by bringing us two special treats to commemorate both, on top of dessert wow!"

  • "My second visit to No. 9 Park did not disappoint. The service and food was beyond expectations, and my expectations were very high. We enjoyed the Chef's Tasting Menu, with wine pairings; what an experience! Tasty, thoughtful, and proportions that left you amazed at the course but not overwhelmed by the amount of food, considering 6+ courses. The restaurant paid special homage to our 20th Anniversary and made it a night my wife and I will never forgot. A "must experience" if in Boston. Hint...the gnocchi in foie butter sauce never comes off the menu and must be tried!"

  • "The food, tasting menu, wine selections are outstanding. The staff is great also. My wife didn't want to sit by the service door, so they switched us to the front overlooking the park. When the tasting menu items started falling behind the wine, we mentioned it,and they responded in force. Extra pours, the wine stewards personal selection, and extra dessert. Not many restaurants respond like this, and it is duly noted. Will definitely be back."

  • "Had reservation @ 8:45. We arrived at 8:35 and were told our table would be ready "right on time," so we had a seat at the bar. Then we waited an HOUR. The entire bar area cleared out. No hostess approached us, until the 4th time I had to get up to ask. Finally, the manager approached us, said she would seat us, but... oops, NO TABLE. After 10 p.m. we were served first bit of food. Service was otherwise impeccable, they made every attempt to apologize. The food was good, not great. Nothing served at very hot or very cold temperature, veloute was more of a broth, my husband felt his fish was overcooked - we were just too hungry to send it back at that point. Really not worthy of the hype. I thought the prices, however, were fair for Boston."

  • "A very refined, but affordable, menu. Our party of two selected different starters that were very delicate and tasty: a chilled pea soup with crab and ricotta raviolis. For main course, we had a superbly cooked piece of halibut with salted cod fondant and greens. As the portions are moderate, I recommend the cheese service à la carte to finish the wine. Superb desserts of rhubarb and chocolate tarts to crown the experience. The sommelier-server suggested to us a very fine sicilian wine as we had indicated we would like to have light red wine with the fish."

  • "Group of 6 people well catered for. Food and service v good. Negatives? Only the building from outside which could use some attention as it makes you wonder if if could be a reflection of what is to come. Fortunately on this occasion anyway the answer was no. If you were just passing by and did not know of it's reputation there is nothing to make you stop and peruse the menu."

  • "The service was exactly what great service should be. The food was excellent. There is little more that is needed, except it would be nice to see a prosecco available by the bottle on the wine list."

  • "My husband and I splurged here for our first anniversary and were not disappointed! The service was great, the wine list was extensive... which made decisions for us tough because we like wine but are not quite connoisseurs... and the food was delicious. Mostly, we had mentioned it was our first anniversary so our server actually printed us out the menus of what we ate and took the label off of our wine bottle for us (the traditional first anniversary gift is paper) as a memento, that definitely sold it for us! Definitely a great special occasion spot!"

  • "My daughter's favourite restaurant. They missed bringing the cocktails. They did give them complimentary. The time frame from dessert and cognac order to delivery was a bit excessive. 4 out of 5. "
    Dined on 6/6/2014
  • "They were very accommodating when we were over 1/2 hour late due to a massive traffic snarl, and saved the nicest table in the house for our graduation/ birthday/ birthday celebration. We were so appreciative. The wait staff was attentive but discreet, and the service was timed perfectly. Food was delicious and inventive without being 'precious'. I was seated under a bit of a downdraft from the AC, and when they noticed I was cold, they immediately produced pashminas. I would enjoy seeing a fruit or other light dessert on the menu for those who want to join in but need something on the light side. Otherwise: wonderful."

  • "Fantastic food. We had the tasting menu. All items were great, with spot-on wine matches. But the standouts included: 1) A "sauceless" pasta cooked in tomato water with lamb meatballs (paired with Chianti Classico); 2) The prune gnocci paired with a demi-sec sparkling wine; 3) duet of veal sausage and Wagyu beef paired with a Bordeax blend."

  • "The food is nice, but for a top notch high culinary restaurant, I cannot give this place a high 5. Although nothing was bad, the menu had nothing to write home about. The top chef level did not meet my expectations. "

  • "My husband and I stayed at Hotel Nine Zero so this restaurant was really just next door and the review was excellent, so we gave it a try. It was absolutely worth it. We had tortellini and Gnocci for appetizers, both were absolutely excellent, with the Prune-filled gnocci being unique and refreshing and fantastic. Most of the restaurants would pale in main course when they produce fabulous starters, but our monkfish and lamb dishes were first-rated and to be wowed. The only regretful experience is that the dessert menu was ordinary and the eclaire was much on the sweet side, but this may have been to cater to the American palate. Overall, an excellent experience and would definitely return, maybe tomorrow evening. "

  • "The restaurant overlooks the Boston Commons and the dining room has a lot of natural light. Some of the food was phenomenal and other dishes were just OK. The pea soup and Monkfish dishes were great. The red snapper dish was under-seasoned and needed more tzatziki sauce but the fish was cooked perfectly. The overall meal was great; however, the chocolate torte dessert was terrible...not the best way to end a meal. I would definitely go back to the restaurant for the ambience and service, but the food was definitely not the most memorable."

  • "The atmosphere was refined simple with white table cloths- very comfortable for an upscale restaurant. Although I do not like pre fix, it really is the perfect way to experience the cuisine at #9 Park Street. The wait staff was exceptional in making you comfortable. The wait staff informed us of the menu, the ingredients, how the dishes are prepared and were wonderful servers. Many menu selections are locally sourced. The wine list was tailored to the food. We very much enjoyed our selection Nuite Saint Georges. We enjoy cheese, as a first course. The selection are wonderful, from France and local sources. Although an expensive restaurant, we already have plans to go back. "

  • "On a weekend trip to Boston, we decided to entrust our one "fancy dinner" to a James Beard award winning chef with endless praise within the industry. The problem with doing that is that, right off the bat, the expectations are raised. We expected excellence, and I'm happy to say that we felt we received our fair share of excellence throughout the meal. The service was the star, as our server (her name escapes me, though she did say she went to school in S. Florida, adding to the homey vibe) was down-to-earth and approachable, and took the time to explain every course to us, down to detailed descriptions and backgrounds of every cheese on the cheese tray. The food was top notch as well. Great place for a romantic night out in Beantown."

  • "Fortunately I found a last minute open table that turned out to be overlooking Boston Commons. The pris fixe menu choices were most tempting to my usual tastes but I chose instead to turn my experience over to the chef with the tasting menu. It was a delightful decision. The wine pairings were interesting and varied and the server helpful and accurate with descriptions."

  • "We chose to visit No. 9 Park for the first time on our 5th anniversary, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!! The food and presentation is absolute perfection, and the service was seamless with everyone in the restaurant working as a group to keep our plates cleared, wine glasses full, and ready for the next course. Definitely a fine dining experience, but everyone was also very friendly/warm and easy to talk to. At the end, they wrote "happy anniversary" on our dessert plates which was very sweet. We will be back! "

  • "No. 9 came highly recommended by locals, tourists, and internet alike. The food was very creative, with the highest standards for those expecting something special for their taste buds. Service was even better. Trust the chef and don't forget the cheese tray! The only possible knock is that the very functional chairs, plates, and silverware are showing their use.....but in Boston - that's very fitting! "
