our food was great but our server devin made us feel incredibly rushed. we were sitting closest to the server station which was fine but he was coming by literally 2-3 minutes to grab plates while we still had food on them! my boyfriend and i are very busy during the week and were looking forward to taking some time for each other but that did not happen here. we wanted to get dessert and more drinks but we just got frustrated so we got the check and left. devin was rolling silverware so i guess he was just ready to leave. i rarely leave reviews, especially a bad one, but this was just not the experience we were looking for when wanting to have a nice evening out.

One of the many things I like about this restaurant is how knowledgable the waitstaff is about the menu. I have never been disappointed if I tell the server what I'm in the mood for and then ask for recommendations. It's my favorite place to take people because I know we will all get an unusual and good meal.

I wish restaurants would understand that placing tables so close together actually diminishes the overall experience. There should be at least a foot between tables. Less than 6 inches is just not acceptable. We actually decided to have our entrees elsewhere because of this. Food here has always been delicious, but I wouldn't recommend weekends if you enjoy more intimate dining.

Enjoyable evening at no. 246 during a recent visit to Atlanta. The food was delicious and offered numerous options for a foodie group - small plates to full size meal. Excellent selection of cocktails, beer, and wine. Service was attentive and wait staff was accommodating; we arrived at 8:30 p.m. and didn't leave until the restaurant was closing. The noise level was an issue and even the millenials in our party commented on it. If noise is a concern and patrons are dining during prime time, they should ask to be seated in the front of the dining room where the din might be less bruising. Cool, contemporary vibe.

Excellent starters (small plates and salads) and pizza, but the menu makes clear that pasta is the star here. The homemade, richly sauced pastas were indeed excellent, but the prices ($20-$29) were absurdly high, overlapping with prices for meat and fish main courses. Good wine list.

Food here is consistently among the best in Decatur, with a varied and adventurous menu, and a really interesting wine list. It's also a beautiful room. The staff is super-friendly but less than efficient. They gratuitously introduce themselves by name and linger for long chats at the table, but never scan the room for desperately beckoning tables, so that getting missing cutlery or a bill can take a really long time. This is a function of management and training, and the difference between a good restaurant and a great one. The noise level is so high that you spend the evening either shouting or just avoiding conversation.

We had a reservation at 5:30 pm on Sunday night. Restaurant empty except for 2 other tables of 2. They wanted to seat us next to the waitress stand. We asked to move to another 2 spot, they told us the waitress area would not bother us and said the other tables were all reserved. The hostess seemed put out with our request and left us standing in the middle of the room and never returned. Finally, a more professional lady sat us at a table for 4 near the window, which was fine. Needless to say the first hostess's unprofessional and unfriendly attitude started off the evening with a bad feeling. With that said, dinner was very good and our server was excellent. When we left at 7:00, the tables we had asked to be seated were still empty.

Someone had recommended this restaurant in passing as we were discussing other places to go. Am glad I ventured to 246; meal was excellent, and service equally good. 246 has the perfect balance between design and relaxed comfort. The space is beautiful, and the lighting and sound control were key parts of the design. It is not, however, in any way pretentious and the food was excellent and delivered when we were ready for it. We had a kale/beet/labneh salad to start and shared the chicken scallopini. We have just moved to Decatur from Chicago and 246 will definitely be on our list of regular places to dine.

My friends and I had an amazing time. The service was great and right on point. I cant remember the gentlemen name but he took so well care of us. I appreciate that. When I do go back we will be looking just for him. The views, decor was all great. The food was good. Some what small in some areas, but I feel like they keep you from filling up so you can have some room for desert. No we did not have desert. Everyone at the table said the same thing. Food was good, but based off price vs proportion. The price was greater than the proportion. Enjoy

the food is always good here, but the noise level is so loud you cannot carry on a conversation, even at a two top. On top of that they play really bad rock type music. I've asked to turn the music down but they would not. There are other restaurants near by with great food and quiet ambience.

We went for Decatur Restaurant Week. We asked our sever for the specials and she conveniently skipped that special until we specifically asked. She flew through the 3 course meal so fast I didn't hear it all and then she ran off. Just as our food was about to be brought out she asked if we wanted $50 shavings of black truffle on each of our meals. My husband and the couple we were with kept commenting that she tried to upsell everything. The food was great but not the most comfortable or pleasant service from our waitress. And...it's so loud in there you can't hear the person sitting across the table from you.

Headline says it all. Great food always. Nice ambiance as well. One thing that we try to avoid is sitting at the banquettes. They crowd the tables in so tightly that it's hard to relax and have a conversation that is kept private when two other couples are on either side of you.

246 has a very Decatur vibe to it, which might not suit some tastes - if you're looking for something more formal Buckhead would be a better bet - but does mean you can dress casually, laugh with the server, play table tennis in the back yard and still get top-notch food and service. The pasta was a standout, with noodles thick and tender at once. Proscuitto was just right, flavorful and not too dry, and my daughter's shrimp was fresh and cooked properly, with no rubbery "refrigerated too long" feel. Also noteworthy was the excellent olive oil used with the very nice bread, and a flan that was not too heavy nor too big. The wine list is enormous but we felt no pressure to pick from the pricier wines and received some good recommendations.

Met a friend for dinner. I've had lunch there several times and enjoyed it. The service was ok but not great. Food was very good and liked the choices. Biggest problem was the noise level. Very hard to carry on a conversation without raising your voice. Prefer a place where we can have a good conversation without competing with the loud noise of other diners. The choice above doesn't give an option for too loud so I chose "energetic". I guess a positive way to say too loud.

The servers are well versed about the menu and the food ingredients are of very good quality. The sommelier is very good and we always enjoy trying new wines with him. Cannot read the menu, cannot fully appreciate your food (especially a whole roasted fish with bone in), and the ambience that requires a shouting match amongst patrons at the tables in order to converse. "Energetic" is when the conversions are lively but easily understood. Not so here. The smallish tables are metal without cloth, and that creates a sounding drum for sound as does all of the hard surfaces without any form of sound absorbing materials in place. It forces to people to raise their voices in order to be heard thereby creating - energy. Whole roasted fish tasted fantastic but we couldn't really see all that was presented in the dish nor locate the bones because it was so dark. St Cecelia has this Ford place beat.
