It was busy, but I had great conversations and the people were real foodies. I never order chicken, but did so at the advice of the bar tender. Excellent!! The next time I went on a Wednesday for an early dinner. It was not as crowed. I ordered the beef. Excellent! The wait staff is very knowledgeable of the food and wine.
The only down side was the seating against the wall is a little close. I almost felt like I was dining in Europe. The food tasted delicious, but the portion size was uneven between the dishes - one of us had gnocchi and there were 12 pieces of noodle in a large bowl. The food was delicious and prepared as advertised or as ordered. The pizza entrees are big enough to share, as are the salads. The Cannelloni and Gnocchi dishes we ordered were excellent (really tasty and fresh!) and we will definitely go back for more!! The restaurant was half full and it was already pretty loud. The brick walls just throw sound back at you. But the food we had was really outstanding. Highlights were the crisps (small toasted appetizers) and the meatball appetizer (I really WANT that recipe!). Main courses - sausage gnocchi and spaghetti - were excellent, especially the gnocchi. We had a lovely experience - nice, friendly and efficient wait staff and hostess, wonderful and interesting food choices. (the meatball, cheese, salami, and tomato soup for appetizers) The specialty pasta dish was too small for my husband, but very tasty. My chicken was undercooked, but not to the point of sending it back and the flavors were good. Delicious cheesecake and dessert drink. Ambiance exceptional.

Many restaurants that are considered good put bacon and ham in so many of their dishes that it makes it hard to choose items on the menu. Thankfully No. 246 have not fallen into this trap. Excellent salads, delicious calamari and house made pastas and fish. Desserts were sized just right and the dessert menu was innovative and different from others that I have recently seen.
