We elected to go to no. 246 for
brunch on a Sunday (3/2/14). We ordered the deviled eggs - fabulous. We ordered 3 entrees - Ga. White Shrimp (shrimp & grits play), Campanelle w/ fennel sausage, Srozzapreti - Carbonara w/ crispy farm egg....all fabulous. We ended our meal with a few to go boxes & a scoop of ice cream each in the best waffle cone I've ever had. From start to finish, the service, attention, timing, drinks, flavors & everything else was on point. The service team worked extremely well together. No one was above filling our water, taking a plate from the table, bringing a drink or putting in a dessert order. It made for a seamless & efficient (but not rushed) dining experience. We'll definitely be back."

Excellent location, staff was very
professional and knowledgeable of the menu. Food was excellent, tasteful , great presentation. Wine list was superior. I would recommend this location to several friends."

No. 246 never disappoints. The
food is outstanding, very innovative and fresh. The pasta is homemade and divine. The only downside is that it is very noisy - you have to shout to be heard once it gets crowded."
Dined on 3/1/2014
From the time we sat down, an hour
and fifteen minutes to get our food. It took 30 minutes for someone to come to our table. Maybe we caught it on a bad night but will not be going back anytime soon. Good food but poor service."

Had a lovely meal, all by myself.
Mark, my server, was attentive and professional. Because I ate early the noise level was very nice. When we have eaten there before, later in the evening, the noise is a deterrent to wanting to have a return visit."
Dined on 2/25/2014
Whole branzino was outstanding.
Great service with meal appropriately paced (not rushed). Loud, busy, bustling, packed on prime Saturday evening at 7 pm. I wish there were more app choices than salads and the antipasti platter."
Dined on 2/22/2014
Food was excellent, server was
helpful and attentive, but the noise level was unbelievable! Couldn't carry on a conversation with my spouse, it was so loud. Won't be going back."
Dined on 2/21/2014
Although the acoustics are
terrible (I couldn't hear the people sitting across from me), it was worth it to experience the food. The trout was cooked perfectly with delicious seared brussels sprouts and potatoes. The toasts were interesting and delicious. I also had oyster from Washington state topped with sturgeon caviar. Absolutely divine! I didn't partake in any alcohol, but the fresh pink lemonade was a great choice. I recommend this for casual fine dining. A great place to take a small group for a birthday celebration or for a romantic date night."

Great little Italian spot, loved
everything! Great good, service and cocktails!"

Stumbled upon No.246 when trying
to find a good place to eat when my cousin was in town for a conference. I'm a JCT Kitchen fan so I figured this spot had to be good and I was right! It's Italian inspired menu doesn't disappoint. We had salads and pizza - yum, yum! Ordering a meatball or two is a must. Loved the decor and the waitstaff was competent and friendly. I definitely will be going back!"

Had a wonderful dinner on 2/15 -
our meals were delicious and our waiter Mark was very friendly and personable! Having traveled from the Midwest, dining at No. 246 was great choice for two twentysomethings - in fact, the couple next to us made a list of other not-to-miss restaurants to visit. I was a little concerned about the noise level based on other reviews, but even with a late reservation time we had no problem hearing each other. We couldn't have asked for a better experience!"
Dined on 2/15/2014
Everything was fantastic! Our
server Hanna was knowledgeable and friendly without being overbearing and obtrusive and she seemed to really enjoy creating a special evening for us. My only criticism is that the tables are WAY to close together. In my humble opinion, dining out should be an intimate and personal experience."
Dined on 2/16/2014
My only experience with no.246 was
for brunch last weekend with 5 friends. Quiet, hip and great brunch choices for all types of folk: wood oven breakfast pizza, shrimp and grits, your typical steak and eggs as well as french toast. Friendly service. I never go to brunch expecting the perfect meal as brunch (for a kitchen) is pretty tough), but no.246 did pretty well. If I lived in Atlanta, I'd return and definitely check out the evening menu."

We chose to use a couple of gift
cards to celebrate Valentine's, but opted for 2/15. The food was amazing as usual and our server Kristin was charming and attentive. The only issue we had was the time it took to get cocktails after we ordered them, but the bar was hopping so it was understandable. Kristin was knowledgable about some of the more arcane ingredients in the cocktails, which was a pleasant surprise. Her wine pairings with our entrees was also impeccable."

I love No. 246, and a friend and I
go every year to celebrate our birthdays, which are three days apart. While strolling around Decatur, I pointed it out to my boyfriend and told him how great the food is. He suggested we go for Valentine's Day, as he loves Italian food, and doesn't live in Atlanta, so he'd never been. Once we got our food, he kept telling me how amazing the food was, and what a great idea I had to go there. I continued to remind him that it was actually HIS idea!! Needless to say, as usual, the food and service were impeccable. I love this restaurant, and I hope it stays around for a long, long time. Thank you!"

We had to change the number of
people in our reservation four times. They were great. They could not have been more accomidating. They went out of their way to work with us. It made a good night great."
Dined on 2/8/2014
Overall, we expected better,
especially after all the positive things we had heard. Food was ok - nothing out of this world or maybe we just ordered the wrong things. :) And service was pretty average. Environment was awesome though! Loud, yet intimate and cozy. Bar was full of life. Could see myself giving it another try though, but wouldn't be the end of the world if I didn't."

I took several girlfriends to No
246 for dinner last weekend and all were raving about it! Service is always impeccable, the food is not only gorgeous but also delicious and fresh, and the atmosphere is very cool - probably best described as industrial-chic. We always enjoy ourselves."

I took my brother here and we
shared the Branzino stuffed whole fish. We started with a very yummy smoked cheese appetizer and then they delivered this main entree. It was beautiful to look at and even better to eat. The dish had many flavors but the chef kept it in check so you could still appreciate the fish. Service was excellent too. This felt like eating With your the neighborhood with chit chat with other tables. I like this but it is not the place for serious conversation. Come to get energized and enjoy great food"

Dining at 246 always provides an
excellent evening. My wife and I have eaten at 246 several times and have tried most of the items on the menu. All have been outstanding. The wine list contains a wide variety of wines including wines from several regions in Italy which are often missing from wine lists. The service is also excellent. We dine at a number of restaurants in the Atlanta area, but find ourselves always drawn back to 246 for a guaranteed great evening."

Since moving to California, I have
realized that there are so many things I miss about Decatur - there are just so many good restaurants in my old neighborhood. I found No. 246 by accident - I stumbled across it while looking for another restaurant that had been recommend. And, I'm so glad I decided to stop and try it. Now, on my visits back to Atlanta I always try to stop in. The seating is intimate (the tables are very close together - which always spawns group conversations, especially about the food). This is not a place to go if you want to talk quietly about something - you won't have any privacy. The menu seems to change regularly - and because the chef is so good that's a bonus! Keep up the good work guys - I'll be back soon."

Came here to celebrate a friend's
birthday and we enjoyed everything. From the service to the pizza and everything in between we look forward to coming here again. Especially for that pizza!"

The chef prepared a special
vegetarian meal that was delicious. It was a quiet night in the restaurant which was perfect, usually weekends are very loud. Server was attentive and efficient."

Good food that isn't boring. Feels
like dinner time in a large family."

Overall enjoyed the experience.
The Bartender looked like Olive Oyl, whipped up a wonderful martini but had a sour personality. Food server was friendly and energetic and was knowledgeable of wine. Entres were acceptable but the "toasties" appetizers were awful and we tried 5 different versions. Stick with salad for your first course."
Dined on 1/17/2014
wonderful return experience ...
very attentive service with some amazing food tastes. don't miss the sweet potato taste or the incredible meatball. the wine list supports the menu very well - don't miss the Spann vineyard - betsy's backacher red ... very affordable and complements the food well."

no. 246 skillfully blends fresh
ingredients with a light hand to create dishes that remind one of Italy. The decor creates an upscale yet intimate and friendly vibe that's perfect for entertaining good friends or business associates. Our wait person and the rest of the wait staff were knowledgable about the menu, attentive, yet non-intrusive. The olive and olive oil plate and semolina sliced bread for the table is a nice touch. The wine list offers a balanced selection of wines mostly from Italy (natch), and California. The after dinner capuchinos were delicious and served piping hot. Although a bit pricey (for Decatur,) the quality of the food, ambience and service rate this establishment a good value and two thumbs up! Rating: 4.5 stars."
Dined on 1/15/2014
The food was great. The place
looks nice. The waitress was fine. But the hostess had a very unpleasant attitude which is really too bad for the restaurant since she is the first person we encounter! Also it could get too noisy and hard to hear the conversation which is tiring."
Dined on 1/14/2014
Dinner was absolutely delicious.
Four of us were celebrating a birthday and were very pleased not to be rushed on a Monday. We received perfect recommendations on food and wine. Remembering that we mentioned a birthday in. The very beginning of the conversation showed great attention to detail. We will be back."
Dined on 1/13/2014
Good food, small portions.
Especially for the price. Cramped. Not much space. You are bound to have servers and patrons bump into you while you dine. The tables are small, and there is no space between them. Especially cramped for groups."
Dined on 1/12/2014
My wife and I eat out frequently,
and we find ourselves gravitating to 246 more and more all the time. The set menu is varied and excellent, and the specials are consistently good. A wide variety of regional Italian wines adds to a delightful dining experience."
Dined on 1/10/2014
246 has some great food, well
attentive servers, but really tiny tables. The only frustration out of the night was bumping things around on the slick, stainless steel tables causing glasses to come close to falling off of the table and sugar to be spilled. Other than needing bigger tables...246 is a great place to go in Decatur"
Dined on 1/4/2014
Went for new year's $60 3 course.
In general all great but paid $14 upcharge for lobster risotto which was not very good-- upcharge in that case was insult to injury. Won't risk that again. The place is very nice but the tables are too small to eat comfortably."
Dined on 12/31/2013
It was a pleasant evening
overall... but I felt a little too close to the couple sitting/eating beside us. My flank steak seemed a little bland. The noise level was high but not a big issue. The front door was left purposely open on a chilly night and my wife was cold much and had to eat dinner with her coat on. Her springer chicken was delicious though, and so were the toast starters we ordered. With all the great choices in town, not sure we'll rush back."
Dined on 12/30/2013
with a limited menu outside of
pizza one would think that the 4 items offered would be better. The monkfish tasted like it was prepared with a jar of cheap olives, the canneloni was so heavy-handed with salt that the sorry filling and sauce was rendered tastless. The server failed to write the name of a wine as she promised and never delivered the bill without a word. I should note that a generous gratuity was still given for her "work"."
Dined on 12/26/2013
The bread and olive oil were
wonderful. Followed with a great salad. The entrée was average."
Dined on 12/27/2013
This is one of my favorites! The
food is sensational, especially the salads and the pizza at lunchtime. Service is good, it is a bit of a trendy place, with a great crowd on weekend evenings. This can make the restaurant noisy if trying to talk to others at the table. Still, a totally worthwhile evening."
Dined on 9/6/2013
I live in Decatur so have access
to some great restaurants and had heard some good things about 246. The sweet potato soup was delicious but my entree - trout with brussel sprouts and sunchokes - was not. I had to send it back to the kitchen because the sunchokes were so undercooked that I couldn't cut them with a knife. Even when they came back in better condition, the flavor was unimpressive with the sprouts tasting bitter. My dining companions had better luck so I may try 1 more time before giving up on 246. The noisr level was also an issue. The woman at the adjoining table was literally yelling to be heard by her table mates."
Dined on 12/22/2013
My first time here........was a
special birthday occasion for my wife. She had been to 246 and loved the food. The staff was outstanding......we had to delay because of traffic and they were totally accomodating! Every single staff person was friendly and accomodating. The tables were so close together that we felt as if we were sitting with other couples. I was able to move around next to my wife since I felt so far from her because of the size of the table. Food was delicious and great combos on chef's creations. Intend to go to 246 again, but if you are looking for an intimate quiet private dining expericnce, this is not the one......but we made it work and the night was memorable."
