Nizza - NYCGreat Streetside TableWe sat outside on a beautiful sunny day so I'm sure that colors my review. We went for lunch and it was fine for what we wanted. We had an order of shrimp scampi and then split a salad. Nothing special, but bother were good. We also had a cheese appetizer--you can order 1-2 or 3 cheeses and meats. We ordered a cheese. The presentation was very nice with apples, walnuts and a side of olive bread.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent egg dish!Served on a chickpea pancake with Swiss chard in it. Two eggs on top and fontina cheese, Baked. Was unusual and excellent! Would go back again. They were also generous with the coffee re-fills and the challah bread was very fresh!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGluten free optionsOne of my favorite restaurants in the theater district. They have a great gluten free menu and the socca is the best! Always busy, make a reservation.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat great pizza,Great time, real good menu, excellent pizza, glute free menu also available. Close to everything!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect but LOUDThis was my third visit and I have not yet been disappointed, but I will have to try to go at off hours in the future. The noise level is nearly intolerable once the place fills up.
There must be some noise reducing ceiling treatments available since other similarly sized places aren't so loud, but the food and service are impeccable and the gluten-free menu is terrific.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat choices in gluten free foodExcellent gluten free menu and a very knowledgable server. This was a wonderful meal for our daughter who has to follow a strict gluten free diet. The gluten free bread with olive oil and ricotta was a great starter! She loved her entree- GF pasta with pesto sauce. All items from regular menu were also outstanding. Lots of homemade pastas and pizzas. We highly recommend Nizza for pre or post theater dining!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGluten-Free GoodnessWe love Nizza because my wife, who has Celiac disease, can't eat gluten. Nizza's gluten-free menu options are delicious and creative. We're so happy they're here!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMLove NizzaNizza is a great restaurant. Since moving to the area, I have dined here several times and finally decided that I should write a review in support of this great restaurant. The service is tremendous. The servers and hostesses are exceptionally gracious and you can tell that they care about the customers. I have always left this restaurant feeling as though my server truly cared about my dining experience. The food is also remarkable. I recently tried a few items off of the extensive Gluten Free menu and was really shocked with how well they have created alternatives to pastas and pizzas. Between the food and the service, you can't go wrong at Nizza.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMA pleasant surprise. We had never been to Nizza before. I chose it because we had theater tix and the menu looked interesting. My request for a quiet table was honored, the food was interesting, fresh and delicious, and the staff was pleasant and accomodating. Usually, we are eating in the heart of the theater district and the prices are high. This tab was more than reasonable. A very pleasant experience!5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat nightMy wife and I went on a flying recommendation from friends to try their gluten free menu. Our server, Missy, was very gracious, helpful, and knowledgeable about our gluten free questions. Everything from the cocktails to the desserts was great. The location is great and we will definitely be back and bring friends. I'm also excited to know a place to bring my mother when she is in town ( as she is a celiac)!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMReliable post-theater spotGood small pizzas and salads, friendly if a bit disorganized service. Everyone enjoyed their meals, and there's a nice outdoors seating area for nights not as chilly as the one we went there. Moderately priced.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWondereful meal!We dined at Nizza post matinee theater. We arrive about 15 mins early due to torrential rain and the staff was very friendly and accommodating, seating us right away. Service was prompt and friendly. Everything ordered was fresh and delicious. The extensive gluten free options, including gluten free bread and the wonderful socca, were a huge plus. Restaurant became crowded yet they never rushed us along. Thanks Nizza for a wonderful evening! We will definitely be back.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food at a location thatGreat food at a location that is very convenient to Broadway shows. A haven for a Celiac who is also a "foodie." My favorite NYC restaurant!!!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat gluten free menuThis restaurant has a great gluten free menu. Everything we ordered was delicious.
You will not be disappointed. The service was slow.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMNoist but worth itDefinitely not the place for a quiet conversation. However the service was great and the food better than average, The socca was interestiong and the beer selection excellent.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMA great findNizza was recommended to us by some locals and it did not disappoint. The food was wonderful and not the typical Italian flair. In addition the Peach Bellini Martini quickly became my new favorite summer beverage. The most difficult part was choosing what to have for dinner because everything looked wonderful and wanted to try it all. I guess I'll have to make several more trips back to NY and include Nizza on the itinerary!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGetting togetherWealloyed Nizza. Rrunning late, called & they were ever so nice. Wine displayed all over& even a wine of the day. 2 shared baby artichoke app - exxcellent. Braseola app- excellent. Salmon entree over Artichoke Puree w/Spring Pea - excellent. Raviolientree - ffed w/Veal- excellent. Gnocci- excellent. Chicken in a sauce- excellent. Cold Zabaglione w/fresh fruit- very good....but nothing like Zabaglione. Crepe w/Chocolate Sauce (Nutella?) - very good. Noise level is beyond belief in a bad way. Might like to go back when it isn't exactly dinner or lunch time to see if we can hear each other (and the waitress). One gathering to our left was obnoxiously loud. Fook was wonderful and the personnel was terrific.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat gluten free selectionI think they have one of the best gluten free menus with the most variety and great options. Everything I've tried there has been excellent!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious Gluten free date!My GF is gluten in tolerate and I was worried about not being able to find something delicious and in our price range but Nizza was incredible. Large entree portions and a full GF menu to chose from and our service was impeccable. I would definitely recommend Nizza for an affordable and delicious night out!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMStill Cookin'We enjoyed our meal but not as much as the last time when we both had the tuna. I had the veal raviola which was delicious but my friend who is gluten-free did not like the salmon as well as she liked the tuna and she thought the gluten-free bread was too oily this time.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for drinks and dinner.Great for drinks and dinner. They have a decent gluten freenu but not a lot of dairy free.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat pre-theater foodThis was our third visit, the first time we were there for brunch. (Excellent Eggs Benedict). Haven't been disappointed yet. Friendly service, delicious food, great location for pre-theater. Be sure to order the socca to share before your entrees. So good that after I had it for the first time, I went online to find the recipe for it - it's a crispy pancake/crepe made of chickpea flour and it originated as street vendor food in Nice. Should also mention that Nizza has one of the most extensive gluten free menus you will find anywhere - not a concern for me, but a coworker has celiac disease and can't wait to try the restaurant next time she goes to the theater.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMNizza is one of those unpretentiousNizza is one of those unpretentious Trattorias that we New Yorkers long with great ambiance, great service, great food but is not expensive. I had this incredible tuna that was truly fabulous, prepared rare-just the way I had requested. And on a sunny evening like last Friday, the outside tables were buzzing with life. What a great pre-theater restaurant.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMStopped by on our way to aStopped by on our way to a show. Our server was really good, explaining and recommending what to select and avoid at this 9th Avenue eatery. She took our order without writing anything, then went to another table and took their order, also without writing anything down. Food was out in a reasonable time and the order was perfect. This is a lively spot with decent food. I would probably return, if I was in the neighborhood.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat pre-theater option.Great pre-theater option. I love Nizza!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food. Reasonable price.A great spot to eat before the theatre. Walking distance to many theatres. Excellent Italian food for a very reasonable price. Very busy, tables are very close to one another and could be noisy. A vibrant, lively atmosphere. Server was very warm, personal and attentive. Although, food was a bit slow coming out. Server made sure we were on time for our show.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a wonderful time at NizzaHad a wonderful time at Nizza with a group of friends. Delicious, healthy, flavorful food. Food was wonderful, service attentive and very friendly and polite. My daughter was thrilled with her meal especially the gluten free bread. This will definately be on our agenda during our next NYC trip and we highly recommend!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMMy friend and I went thereMy friend and I went there wanting a dish we had had before and found it was no longer on the menu. We mentioned it to our server who told the chef and he made it for us. It was even better than we remembered.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMEarly arrivals! We had reservations for 12:45 Sunday afternoon and because we arrived into the city much earlier than we anticipated we decided to try Nizza early to see if we could eat early. We were over an hour early! They were very gracious and seated us and we had a very lovely brunch, served by a lovely waitress. The food was very good, no complaints at all - and some of the food we saw going past us looked wonderful as well. I had a brunch cocktail that was great - if I wasn't going to a show I would have had more! I would definitely go back there and recommend it as a very nice place to eat.
We were glad we ended up seating early as the place is obviously very popular and was packed as we were leaving.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food. Yummolicious,Excellent food. We had a cozy table for 5 in the corner which was great. Despite having a table in the corner, our server never forgot about us and made us feel comfortable and welcome. Her food recommendations were spot on. Portions were adequate and the food was delicious. The espresso parfait was amazing! We went to Nizza because of their gluten-free menu but all of us enjoyed our meals, GF or not. Had a little problem hearing over the noise in the restaurant, but it wasn't deafening. Would highly recommend. I wrote a small note in my OpenTable reservation regarding one of our party with celiac and the staff was appropriately attentive to her needs without making a spectacle. All of us rated the restaurant "Outstanding"!3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways has delicious foodAlways has delicious food at incredibly reasonable prices, and the friendliest service. Nizza never disappoints. It may be a bit too noisy for long, leisurely dining, but it is our favorite pre-theater spot. . . Also love it for brunch (the socca pancake with eggs? Who could ask for anything more!).3/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
