A word from Nisen 347
Founded in the year 2000, we bring contemporary Japanese cuisine to Long Island hoping to revolutionize the way sushi is done in the area. Over the years, Nisen has been written up by Newsday as the number one sushi establishment on Long Island and has gotten great reviews from Zagat and the New York Times.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Went on a Sunday. Restaurant was empty. Food was very good, but service was very slow. Friendly but slow."

  • "This is probably some of the best sushi I've eaten in the area. I know the Nisen in Commack is good, so I was happy to try it at the one closer to where I live. I will definitely go back!"

  • "Excellent sashimi, Omikase fresh and plentiful! Accommodating and friendly wait staff who remember the repeat customer. Love Nisen 347!"

  • "Hard place to pull into! Hard to find entrance. Waitress never understood order...BUT the food was so good I forgot about all the negatives. "

  • "If you and your group ate 500 pieces of fish at Nisen, every one of them would be fresh and delicious. That's how reliable the fish is. The appetizers include many non traditional Japanese restaurant appetizers, such as Kobe sliders (wonderful). But the standards also make you glad you ordered them, for example the kani salad and the oyster shot. The pink lady roll is to die for. And we so appreciate that Nisen serves coffee! They also serve the best saketini I've ever had."

  • "at the end of the night I got the bill and there was already a hidden 20% service charge. When my credit card was rung there was a space for a tip and no indication that there was already an added charge. It was very deceiving. They could have gotten a $90 tip on a $210 dinner. I am a good tipper, but find this very deceptive."

  • "Having a 7pm reservation for 10 on a Saturday night, half our party arrived early so we ordered drinks at the bar. When the remainder of our party arrived on time we were immediately seated. Our server did not originally bring enough menus but kept asking if we were all ready to order. The restaurant was not crowded. By the 4th time in 10mins that she asked, we were ready to order. Our food came within 20mins. We were asked if we wanted dessert & she handed us the bill before everyone was finished. When we left, the restaurant was still not full. Not really sure what the rush was, besides the crazy parking lot situation."

  • "Ambiance was nice with all of the lights. The hostess was a little rude. I made a reservation and they tried sitting me at the bar instead of upstairs. They were in a rush when bringing the food and my sashimi fell off the plate and on to the table. I bought a $10 bottle of Voss sparkling water (not to my knowledge at the time) and the bus-boy tried pouring regular water into my glass twice. Not to mention, I was squished between two tables and shared a bench. One of our neighbors had a small child dancing around and the other table had the real housewives of long island. It seemed like they were acting and shooting a show. They were very rude to the server. "

  • "The sushi was tasty. We went as a couple and ordered a few rolls together, so they put all of the sushi on one plate and put some on ice with a blue light underneath. The restaurant was dark so it was fun for the couples and big groups that were there. The waitress checked in on us frequently but didn't rush us when we said we weren't ready to order drinks, dinner, or dessert."

  • "This was a great place for me to try a sushi restaurant for the first time. Before my trip to Nisen I didn't even know that cooked sushi existed. They offer a great variety of sushi platters for new and seasoned sushi lovers!"

  • "The food was good... Fresh sushi.. And great cook chicken teraki. Three levels, but they have a elevator. Service was not good.waitress was not good..waited 20 minutes only to find out the coffee machine was broke."

  • "The food is really good and they have some unusual items for a Japanese restaurants. The Kobe sliders were excellent as was the crunchy seaweed tuna salad. They have a lot of very good sushi rolls. The prices are reasonable for some menu items and expensive for others."

  • "We have been at the restaurant numerous times this time around service was terrible the amount of time we waited for food and drink was terrible and when I asked the general manager about the 100 points from open table he told me nonodding know a thing about it over all not happy this time"

  • "Love all Nisen restaurants. Food is great but it took a while for us to get our drinks (maybe because the bar is on first level and we dined upstairs). Service was kind and attentive."

  • "I'm not a fan of sushi and Japanese food but I studied the menu and found a few good things to eat.kudos on the summer salad. My wife who does like Japanese food liked it a lot. We'll be back."

  • "We had a group of 4 at Nisen347 on March 22, 2014. The Food was outstanding and all cuts of sashimi/sushi were extremely fresh and excellent. We got a sushi/sashimi platter for 3 and it has a great assortment with some raw sashimi I haven't had in other platters which was great to try (and again very fresh). 5* for the food / food quality / food freshness which is extremely important when you're dealing with raw fish! Service was okay. Staff was very polite but they didn't visit the table often to see if you needed anything - so a little more would have been nice. However, when they did make it to the table they were helpful and got what was asked very quickly. Would definitely visit again, hope they maintain the quality of food!"

  • "My husband and I have been eating Sushi for over 30 years. We first ate in Nisen when it was a TINY place in Commack, (Now the Thai place). My……….. how Tom has moved with the times! I do prefer the old days, but the food has always been great, and that it was you go to a sushi plcae for. It is expensive, so go for a special occasion, unless you are one of the lucky ones in this economy!"

  • "As a sashimi lover, I was so happy and so surprised that every single piece of sashimi was so fresh, and delicious and distinctive. I am still dreaming about the Pink Lady roll--- it was one of the tastiest rolls I've ever eaten. I can't forget to mention the toro tartare appetizer, the attentive but never overbearing service, the excellent ginger salad dressing, the wonderful saketini, and the tempura red bean ice cream with actual delicious red beans in it. Oh--- and a wide choice of coffee to finish--- coffee lovers' quality coffee! I can't wait to go back."

  • "The place was really nice, but the bathroom is downstairs, really inconvenient (even though they do have an elevator). Someone is going to end up falling down the stairs going to the bathroom b/c the place is REALLY dark, we all had to use our flashlights on our phones to read the menu and see our food. The food was really good, very fresh. The drinks were awesome, Toni the bartender was great. I would probably go here again but there are other similar places in the area I would probably go to first."

  • "I went to dinner at Nisen347 the other night and I do not like Sushi, but the other people in my party do and we wanted to see the new location. I was very happy that they offered other items (cooked items) that I could choose for. There were four people in my party and we were all extremly happy with out meal. The decor is very appealing, the presentation of the food is beautiful. The only thing I would say that was on the negative side is that the tables are a little close to each other. The location has not been able to keep a restaurant I wish them the best of luck and will definately be back."

  • "My only complaint is that it's a little too dark to read the menu. Other than that, the food is awesome and the service is great."

  • "The lobster bisque is out of this world! The sushi is fresh and the menu is great. Price was reasonable, they have a great saki menu. I reccomend this place!"

  • "The sushi was fresh and the service was very good. The only drawback was the loud, pounding music. Younger diners, who were the majority present that night, may not mind, but it was a little hard to have a conversation. We'll probably try again."

  • "Was here for Valentine's day. Extremely crowded seating. Very loud. Service was good to makeup for it and the food was good. But the sushi and specialty appetizers really aren't impressive. Spicy squid was by far the best thing we ordered. Filet mignon lettuce cups weren't anything special and simple rolls like eel and cucumber were sub par.they don't spend a lot of attention on how their rice tastes which is the core of maki flavor. Wine was insanely over priced. I'll stick to my usual sushi spots as they have better food and save some money doing so."

  • "Food was good but it's noisy & crowded. If you want a romantic night out with any conversation, this place won't do."

  • "The selection of appetizers was amazing. The sushi rolls were also very good although somewhat high priced."

  • "My husband and I went to Nisen 347 when they first opened. It was just ok. The service wasn't very good and the staff wasn't very friendly. I figured, they just opened, they're probably getting into the swing of things. Here we are a few months later. The service was worse. Everytime we needed something we had to flag our waitress down. The tables are so close together that it's almost uncomfortable because you feel like you're in everyone else's conversation and honestly, the food was just ok. Nisen 347 has a great look to it. It's beautiful and they have valet parking. Which they need because the parking lot is so small. But all in all. I'd rather stick to my small town sushi restaurant. I won't go back."

  • "Overall, our experience was pleasant. The food was delicious. Atmosphere was a little ominous. We were seated at a table right at the top of the stairs and it felt like we were being left out. Prices were very reasonable. Definitely a club scene which was slightly unexpected. Service was good. Our waitress was very nice."

  • "I love the Nisen Company and have never had a bad experience. I went to Nisen 347 for the first time last week and it was eloquent. Romantic atmosphere with low lighting and sound. Sushi was incredible and well presented. Service was fast and courteous. Keep up the great work!"

  • "The bldg itself has an unusual feel that doesn't lend itself to comforting patrons right off the bat, however the design ,lighting and music makes one feel as though they have just entered the old school playboy clubs, not a high end restaurant.server was untrained slow and barely spoke English.food was quite expensive and not very high quality.they need to change usage of this place to a disco, they have it already setup for that"

  • "This was my 2nd time dining and everything was great both times. The bar area was cramped but then again it was a saturday night. Waitstaff and manager had excellent customer service!"

  • "As good as the Nisen in Commack. Miso cod appetizer a favorite. Nice presentation. Beautiful upstairs. They should remove the TV from downstairs dining area."

  • "Restaurant was relatively empty but music was loud. Sat upstairs and the lighting was awful. Can't see anything with the very few lights. Ordered lobster tacos and edamame to start. Lobster tacos were very good. Had a special roll that was very good. Cindy our waitress was very rude and awful. We ordered edamame and lobster tacos with a Foursquare deal for checking-in and we got the bill and it was still on there, despite the Special which they should be complimentary. Cindy then gave us a hard time about it when we went to pay. If the restaurant is going to participate in Foursquare specials it should train and tell employees about the deal. Overall, the sushi is very good and very expensive. Service is awful. Would rather go elsewhere."

  • "The Saturday evening we went we got there early just to enjoy a drink in the lounge. There was a private party in the lounge so we were told we could not stay and had to go directly to our table. Upstairs the restaurant is very small. We were seated at a table for two and I was within elbow reach to patrons on each side of me. It was dark, noisy and very uncomfortable to be sitting on top of people. We were seated for approximately 15 minutes and still no waitress. We asked the hostess to please just bring us two glasses of wine as we had not yet seen our server. She stated she would go get the server for us. We then waited an additional ten minutes before our server came over. After that the service was just painfully slow."

  • "BEST Sushi in the area for sure! Have always loved Nisen Commack and it's Fantastic that now we have one in the hood. The quality is the same and please keep it up Nisen to stay # 1 and Do Well. The Huntington Roll is my absolute FAVE, then Volcano and Fisherman's Wharf. Really enjoy your Baby Bok Choy and Listen up people--- Do NOT Miss the Fried Oreos served with Vanilla Ice Cream on the side- It's SOoo Good and I only go for Great desserts and don't bother with anything mediocre or just good. These Oreos are so worth it ! Thank You Nisen for opening and Please maintain Quality and Good Luck !"
