We made a reservation for 8pm but half of us didn't arrive until 8:10. During that ten minutes the waitress informed us that we had to order cause the kitchen was closing at 8:30. We heard that at least 2 more times. We ordered by 8:20 and the food was brought out almost immediately. At 9:10, after we finished the main course, our check was brought without asking us if we wanted coffee or desert and the music in the restaurant was shut off. It was the equivalent of telling us to get out. If they don't want customers to arrive 30 minutes before they close the kitchen (not the restaurant), they shouldn't take reservations. If they do, they should treat them like honored guests, not people they need to get out the door so they can get home. Who ever heard of a good restaurant closing so early anyway?

I had planned our 8 year anniversary dinner here so I went down earlier in the afternoon to decorate a table with flowers. The staff was amazing, they allowed me to select my table and helped me decorate it with rose peddles and candles before my reservation that evening. I love the fact that they prepare their dishes with local, organic ingredients and their vegan and gluten free options are fantastic. Normally I do not eat vegan but the Nirvana Vegetable plate was one of the best I have had. The management, wait and serving staff were great; we never wanted or waited for anything. The meals were fantastic and the deserts over the top delicious. The corkage fee was reasonable and a great option if you want to bring your own bottle.

I've been here before and the food is amazing, it's packed and fun. Well this time we made reservations for Friday dinner, it was empty! The food was so-so but the service was great! Oxana was very attentive but I guess she had only a few tables to service. We were disappointed! Not sure what happened. We'll try again and hope it's much better!

We really wanted to like this place more but it is an odd place. The name and facade of the building makes one think it will have a cool, hip Laguna Beach vibe. Instead, its a disarticulated vibe. The dining room is dark – not romantic dark, just dark. The server we had was lacking any discernable personality. The music they played was lousy – loud, obnoxious pop stuff (that didn’t fit the food or the dining room at all). Except for the hostess who was nice, the rest of the front of the house had an unprofessional personality The food does make up for the weirdness of the place but it too is a bit disarticulated. The menu says all the right things about locally sourced and sustainable (but doesn’t every menu say that these days?)

Nirvana Grille is a gem of a restaurant nestled in Laguna Beach. My wife and I have been there before on a handful of occasions, but with this one, we were celebrating our anniversary. Coming during the middle of the week was perfect because the room was nice and quiet and quite romantic. The food is absolutely TO DIE FOR and the service and attention we had at our table is a quality that EVERY restaurant should strive for. The martinis from the bar are also amazing (try the Nirvana Bliss) and the wine selection was superb as well. As if those were the best things, all the food is farm fresh, grass fed and organically grown. This restaurant needs your patronage-you won't be disappointed! :)

I hosted an intimate 50th birthday dinner for my wife; two of her dearest friends flew in from Vancouver as her gift. The staff we're marvelous in helping me set up and pull off the surprise. The food was superb and the service a delight. Our waiter was attentive but respectful of our desire to be in the moment. I would highly recommend Nirvana Grille.

My wife had the salmon and I had the Filet Mignon. Both were exquisitely delicious. Be warned, though. The Filet Mignon mentioned pairing it up with one of three choices. I chose the 3-piece scallops. Little did I know that there was an extra $10 charge for these items paired with the dish. It wasn't mentioned in the menu. I didn't complain about it because the meal was delicious. However, it would've been nice to know that there was a $10 charge for the extra items. All in all, the food was great and I would recommend the place to my friends.

We wanted a restaurant with good food, a bit special and relatively quiet. We got it! The background music was a bit loud but we were able to hear each other talk which was really important to us (it probably didn't hurt that we were there at 6pm on a Sunday). The menu had something for everyone - from vegan to short ribs. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The service was good. The place has a nice ambience without being too formal. We would definitely go there again!

Good Food! and great service. I called three time pushing back my reservation because I was running late..then trying to find parking. NOTE: Parking is a nightmare on Friday and Saturday. They do have there own parking lot as long as it's not full. Hint: the parking lot is immediately after the restaurant heading East on Broadway. The hidden aspects of the menu are for vegetarians. Ask for the Chili Relleno Veggie style...it's awesome. There Veggie entre is also awesome. The mushroom ravioli was pretty good too. The bartender was awesome and the reservationist was super patient. Great place...worth the parking nightmare :)

We went to this place upon recommendation from a friend. The food was flavorful, exactly as described in the menu, and cooked well. They pride themselves upon using locally acquired ingredients which only adds to the overall enjoyment of the meal. We started with the soup of the day (cream of mushroom) and the scallop appetizer. Both were delicious. My husband is a big fan of salmon and ordered that. He said the edges were a little well done (broiler probably used to finish off the pesto poured on top) and the flakes were not as big as he enjoys but it was very tasty as well. I got the mushroom ravioli with cream sauce and it hit the spot.

We come here every year with about 8-10 people and sit upstairs. The big mistake this year is they turned the table towards facing the sun. For the first 30 minutes that side of the table had a very hard time. In years past the table was always perpendicular to the sun which was perfect. Everyone's food was good except for the sun dried tomato pasta. Swimming in sauce which was not too flavorful and where was the sun dried tomato? Our server was very busy ( could have used some help) but she was efficient and got us all we needed and out of there on time.

Finally a restaurant that takes gluten free healthy eating to an art and gives us GF's a full dedicated menu! The menu is inventive, creative, delicious....a GF foodies dream. So why did I give the food only 4 stars? Because neither of the two desserts we indulged on were up to par. Both were served saturated in ice cream. Also the cappuccino machine was broken. Ekk gad. For an inspired restaurant of this caliber, this was a no no.

He couldn't get enough of the salad!! Corn and cream plate and roasted pablano were wonderful as well. I had their homemade gelato and ice cream for dessert. They tasted wonderful but i found the lavender/blueberry one too strong for me.

The wine was excellent, and the soup and bread delicious, but the gravy on my lamb rack was superfluous and the vegetables lukewarm, while my wife's pasta was overly spicy. The service was somewhat neglectful, too: we had to ask specifically for bread and butter to be brought, as well as salt and pepper. At these prices, those are not little things. We were disappointed, since we had had no complaints the three times we dined at the old location in Mission Viejo.

I took my friend here for her birthday. She is gluten intolerant and they offer a separate menu that is entirely gluten-free. It has many of their regular items on it (which are gluten-free anyway) as well as slightly adjusted versions of their regular items. In any case, it was an extensive menu and was so nice for her to know that she could order anything she saw on it with no worries. And of course, the quality of the food was phenomenal. She had the stuffed pepper appetizer and the filet mignon main course. I had the scallops appetizer and the black cod main course (also from the gluten-free menu). We both took our bites and said "Nirvana" at the same time. Outstanding dinner.

Nice ambience and the service was good, although they are anxious to pick up those plates and I hate to be rushed. The food was just so-so. The kale salad is OK but should be soaked just a bit longer, needs more feta and adding strawberries or something sweet is my suggestion. The salmon was just OK. The chocolate bundt cake and blueberry pie was awesome. Those items with no wine was $100. Sorry, not impressed and would not go back.

We have been to Nirvana several times, but hesitate going because a party of two is most likely to be sitting on top of the person next to them. This visit we had 5:30 reservations in hopes of getting a nice booth before Pageant of the Masters, but no such luck. The food is always pretty good, although my appetizer was not quite warm. I think we've decided to cross it off our list due to the undesirable seating.
