A word from Nino's Tuscany
Nino's Tuscany Steakhouse provides a cozy, welcoming haven and unfussy, well-executed cooking from its namesake central Italian region. Pastel-hued murals of the idyllic Tuscan countryside, brickwork, and softly-lit elongated sconces set a pleasant mood that's enlivened in the evenings by the sprightly piano playing of irrepressible nonagenarian, Irving Fields.

First visit to this neighborhood restaurant. We were impressed with the quality of the food and the service was attentive. However we are unlikely to return because of the wine list. The list is very short and unreasonably expensive. Bottles of Italian red start at $ 58.00 while the domestic reds start at $ 60.00. Can they not find some worthy wines in the $ 30-40 range?

I was in town for meetings and dinned here with my CEO and a client and was caught off guard by live entertainment, it was so loud, It was difficult to hold a conversation. I was embarrassed, and asked two waiters and a manager to see if they can ask lower the volume a bit. The manager was very apologetic and offered some additional deserts and a round of after dinner drinks. We enjoyed the food, however it was an uncomfortable evening.

The food has improved tremendously in the past year, at Nino's Tuscany. They must have a new chef. While the menu is limited, there is a good variety of items to choose from. I try something different each time. Had an excellent veal dish, with mashed potatoes and string-beans this Saturday. We go to Nino's Tuscany often because of: 1-The charming and gracious host, Benny and 2-The fabulous composer/pianist, Irving Fields, 99 years young and still going strong on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and 3-Thursdays thru Saturdays, the quintessential entertainer, Danny Nye is there, and when actor/singer Julio Cruet-Adrover joins Danny, as he did on Saturday, it's even more fun! We were there until 2AM, with a crowd that wanted to keep going!

Good old-fashioned welcome, food, service, ambience...the old-fashioned downside provided by the singer-pianist, who is clearly a little past his best, or even his good, years. The newfangled sound system with added bass only made it harder to ignore.

I am Italian and I loved their homemade pastas. They had a squid ink black pasta special that was amazing. This is a dish that is not easily found outside of Italy! The homemade gnocchi were to die for! The shrimp and veal dishes were excellent. We have a picky eater in our family and they did just lain pasta with butter, which was great. We enjoyed the piano bar music. The manager/ host was very friendly and attentive. We would go back again and again if we lived nearby!

The food at Nino's Tuscany is good, the service outstanding, and the entertainment by Danny Nye, fantastic. He plays all kinds of music, and you can still hear table conversation. Our table had steak (excellent), a pasta dish with hot sausages and white beans (great), shared fried zuchini as well as a "frizzini"(?) salad (delicious), and a seafood combination over pasta with which there was a problem. I asked for marinara sauce instead of fra diablo, but the kitchen did what they wanted. The waiter was most apologetic, whisked it away, and soon came back with it marinara. The very gracious maitre d', Benny, more than made up for the mistake with fruit, cookies and after dinner drinks for our table of three.

Me and hubby were looking for someplace new to enjoy dinner. I love steak he doesnt' but he loves lamb chops which are typically offered at steakhouses. Nino's Tuscany was perfect. They have 3 restaurants in NYC 1 Steak, Italian, and this one that combines the best of both worlds. We came in about 5 mins late and as luck would have it the piano player called us on it. Great ice breaker, because I was on my husbands case the whole where there The ambience was great. Lots of couples. My ribeye was cooked to perfection med. rare hubbys lamb chops awesome. Grilled asparagus and creamed spinach on point. We ordered 2 cocktails each. M'aitre D comped us a round.

5 of us came for a restaurant week. Is happened to be on the same evening as the piano player bday, which was a big deal that evening & 90% of guests were there specifically for his bday. We got seated right away, which was a good sign or so i thought because that was the only good thing about the evening. The waiter brought us the regular menues only. we asked for the restaurant week menu, so he brough a couple of dinner and lunch menues (not paying attention). It took him another half hour to take our order. The appetizers took another good 20 mins, and then we waited more than an hour for the main courses. Meanwhile we were not offered cutlery, fresh ground pepper, drinks, etc. The food was ok nothing special, i've had better in the city

We ate there on a whim as Nino's happened to be located close to where we all worked. The food was amazing, especially the lamb chops and the ambience was fun (there was a live pianist), but not so noisy that we couldn't hold a conversation. The service was excellent and we did not feel rushed. I went with my two best friends and we'd definitely go back!

It was my 2nd time returning to Nino's after trying their wonderful Restaurant Week menu last year except this time, I was here to try the regular menu and to propose to my girlfriend by playing the violin with their amazing in-house maestro pianist, Mr. Irving Fields. I must say it was an exceptional 5-star dining experience all-around with special thanks to Benny, the general manager. For appetizers, we had mixed greens and the Caesar salad; the Caesar salad was the BEST Caesar I've EVER had in my ENTIRE life, all prepared fresh at table-side. For main, we had their divine rib-eye steak, perfectly cooked to medium-rare that melted in our mouths, and the most TASTIEST linguine with clams I've ever had. A rare hidden gem in NYC.

We chose this restaurant due to its convenient location (close to trains) and the offerings on the restaurant week menu. The atmosphere was both comfortable and relaxing and as a treat that Tuesday night piano tunes played by a 98 year old legendary pianist named Irving Fields enhanced our dining experience. The service was slow and uneven but courteous, the food with exception of the tiramisu (soggy) and the coffee (not freshly made) was very good with nice sized portions. There were problems with overcharges on our bill (we were charged for included desserts and a drink we did not order) which were corrected with apologies when brought to the attention of the waitstaff.

This was our first time at Nino's. We were welcomed & seated promptly upon our arrival. Our waiter attended to us shortly after we were seated, bringing the wine list to start. He followed up with the menu shortly after that. We ordered our wine, but he returned saying they did not have that one, and suggested a higher priced wine. The entrees we ordered were very good. My only negative was the wine list. It is overpriced. There were only a few selections under $100, many in the $300+ range. We dine at other fine NYC restaurants and can always find good selections under $60. Would suggest they try to add more in that price range. We like wine with our meal, but do not like to spend $200. We'll return, did have a nice evening.

Excellent restaurant week meal with so many choices! This is a quiet place where you can actually hear conversation at your table, & the food was incredible. This will be a pre-theater staple for us now--it's a few additional blocks of walking to the theater area, but good exercise after your meal anyway!

With thousands of restaurants in NYC, there are many that are better and less expensive than Nino's Tuscany. HOWEVER, (and that is a big "however"), when you factor in the fabulous entertainer, Danny Nye, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings (8 pm to whenever) and "The 15 fingers of 99 year old Irving Fields", composer and pianist extraordinaire (Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 7-9pm), it is well worth every penny and the time spent! Benny, the maitre d' keeps things running smoothly. We were there Saturday night and had delicious food and fabulous entertainment. Special guest star, Julio Cruet, added to the pleasure.

    Dined on 6/28/2014
The food and service at Nino's Tuscany is good, and better than it had been in the past, and the service is also good, but the prices are high, even for midtown Manhattan. However, what makes Nino's Tuscany a special place to visit is Irving Fields, the 99 year old piano player who "tickles the ivorys with his 15 fingers" on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and Daniel Nye, the fabulous entertainer who sings, jokes and plays the piano on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Of course, the music would sound better if Nino would tune the piano, but these two guys are so great ... unless you are a musician, you wouldn't notice it.

The food was decent but I wasn't prepared for how dark it was inside. I stepped in from a beautiful sunny evening into midnight and we were seated in a nook which had only out table. Some may see that as an asset but I wasn't thrilled with it. The wine list was limited and quite pricey.

We discovered this gem of an Italian restaurant in Midtown NY. The noise of the street disappears once inside. We enjoyed attentive service from start to finish. Although we had an early dinner reservation, the intimate feel of the restaurant would not be lost once more diners were seated. The pasta courses were served steaming hot! Entree portions were generous and quite tasty. As for menu selections, while basically Italian, they were delightfully different. For those wanting more of a steakhouse experience, steaks are available. Wanting glasses of wine instead of a bottle, the selections were quite adequate. We will keep this option in mind as we plan our next visit to the Big Apple!

Wow. Very impressed by the food and the service!! Reading the reviews I was a little cautious about our reservation, but my boyfriend loves steak so we decided to try the place out. We were not disappointed! From the moment you walk in, you forget that you are in NYC, the room is warm and tranquil. The staff are friendly and attentive. The food was phenomenal! We shared the steak for two, which was cooked to perfection. We enjoyed a bottle of wine, had coffee and dessert, made a whole night of it. The live music was a great romantic touch to our wonderful evening out. We will most certainly be back.

They charged 4$ each coke refill from machine! The food was average and during our trip to ny, this was the most expensive restaurant off all the ones we visited. We went to riverpark the same day and with 2 more guests, it was less expensive! The only positive thing is the piano player, really good.

Great food, attentive service. Located on W58th Street. I have walked by it a hundred times and finally went in. Well worth it. I had one of the best Caesar Salads I have ever had and a chicken and sausage entrée that was very good. Give it a try. I have eaten at other Nino restaurants. He is an excellent host and his other restaurants offer welcoming environments and good food as well. Keep up the good work.

We went to meet a friend for a quiet dinner in the neighborhood and were amazed to say the least. Even though we ordered the veal chop, and were told they had just run out, we "settled" for a couple of what turned out to be some of the best steaks (ribeye) we had eaten in the city. And...we sat there for more than four hours talking, and no one bothered us, in fact, they were so upset we didn't get the veal chops we wanted, brought us several after dinner drinks while we chatted. We will definitely return!
