Diner Reviews
  • "Enjoyed Nino 46. Shared truffled mac bites - did not like truffle oil. Wine by glass was a bit expensive,We each tried individual pizzzas. My friend had clam - interesting but a little salty. I had the sausage bolognese - good flavor though could have been crisper. Owner/chef came by to ask how things were. Really enjoyed the lemon ricotta cake with strawberries and basil. Service as good."

  • "I have gluten allergies and wet with my wife who does not. We were both delighted with our experience. They were very attentive to my allergy and the red clam with penne was fabulous. Great feel to the place - thooroughly enjoyed. When they found out we were tight against a theater time, they could not have been any more cooperative and responsive. A hit all the way around..."

  • "I was dining alone on a business trip. I sat at the bar and had the salmon special with Kale. Everything was tasty and I loved the atmosphere. Will visit again."

  • "Everything about it was awful, the food, the portions, the drinks, the service. Will not be going back here again."

  • "My fave midtown lunch spot - great for groups, business lunches, or out of town guests. Superb Italian food and great service. The pizzas are creative and delicious (wood fired) and the pastas are all fresh / delicious."

  • "Brought my team for a post holiday lunch and everyone LOVED the food. It really is a great menu for a variety of tastes: some had a pizza, some had a pasta (the gnudi is totally out of this world fantastic) and some had a fish dish. A couple commented that they never went east of 6th ave. I think there were many who will return! We had a very relaxed lunch and didn't feel rushed. Thanks VERY much!!!!"

  • "There is a skilled hand and imagination in the kitchen here, giving typical Northern Italian fare—pastas, pizzas, grilled fish—with special twists. Even though the restaurant is cramped (it's a brownstone space), I return for the food. The manager is very responsive to requests (e.g., lower the music), and the location is convenient to the theatre district."

  • "We went for pre-theater dinner - had an early reservation - service was not the greatest - our waiter was disinterested in our party. We chose the restaurant based on their gluten free options and the food was good. If someone was looking for a restaurant w/ glueten free options, I'd recommend; but the service was not really good at all..."

  • "Needed a place to dine before 8pm show at Lincoln Center. I arrived early. Hostess was very friendly and said no problem, you can wait at the table or at bar, which ever I prefer. I waited at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and gave me her choices of favorites dishes. I opted for the Salmon special which was delicious and cooked to perfection. A perfect choice;)"

  • "Our party of 4 ordered the seabass with Risotto and cheese pizza- both were fine, the other two dishes were not. Parts of the pasta dish were very soft and other parts stiff. The dish had clearly been reheated in its sauce which had been adsorbed giving the pasta itself a reddy look. The broccoli on my plate had clearly been reheated and had been poorly drained so that there was a pool of water on my plate. There were several other issues. The manager refused to accept that there were any problems (which was annoying when they were so obvious) but then comped the whole food tab despite my offers to pay for the 2 good meals. Maybe a bad day in the kitchen but with management in denial, these problems in the kitchen as likely to persist."

  • "Took the calamari, they weren't cooked enough and they were cold. Same thing for my friend's diner."

  • "The food was bland. I normally complain that restaurants use too much salt, but all the food at Ninos 46 could use some salt and spice. Even risotto with bacon and lemon was nearly tasteless."

  • "The food was fine---not brilliant, but better than average and reasonably priced. The service was fine as well. But the noise level was so deafening and unpleasant that the members of our party were unable to converse without screaming at the top of our lungs. Sadly, we will not be back."

  • "The hostess didn't even look at us when we walked in, so we walked past her stand to the bar where the bartender proceeded to help us find our table (table was ready 10 minutes after the time of the reservation). We had to flag someone down to get drinks once seated. Beyond the mediocre service, the food was tasty!"

  • "We made a reservation for 1:45. The restaurant was right next to the theatre. We ordered pizza and let the waiter know that we had 3pm theatre tickets. Our food didn't come until 2:55. Worst of all, every time I tried to find out anything, they just said "it's coming right out". Tell me the truth at least! I do not recommend."

  • "Very slow unfriendly wait staff. Found it on yelp with good reviews. Would not go back the price of the meal not worth it. Got a bottle of wine for 30$ then asked for 2 glasses of wine, each were 15$ may have well as gotten another bottle."

  • "My wife and I are big fans of good Italian pasta dishes and Nino 46 did not disappoint. It was 2pm on a Friday and we didn't have dinner plans. Our hotel concierge was able to get us a table for 2 easily right during dinner rush -this of course made us nervous before we got there. Once we arrived it was a bustling place, nice ambiance with good lighting. The noodles were clearly made fresh and the seafood portions in both our dishes were very good. Nino's has a nice wine list and we were able to match a good red with our meals (Glad I know Italian wines as there was not much help from the staff -largely due to the restaurant's pace). Next time we're in town, we'll be booking a reservation again!"

  • "If you want quiet, space and candlelight, this is not the place for you. But if you want fantastic Italian food, don't go any further. Once we tasted our meal, nothing else mattered. Kudos to the chef for his Risotto Frutta del Mare. It was exquisite and al dente. My Salmon over Cream of Semolina was the best salmon dish I ever had. and cooked to diner specifications- rare to well-done. It arrived crispy on the outside and moist and flavorful within. The taste was exquisite. The Caesar Salad, however, was ordinary.Try the Butter lettuce salad instead with its mustardy dressing. For dessert, the orange ricotta cake, which my husband and I shared was a real winner and something neither of us had had before. We will surely return."

  • "Wonderful restaurant with a great location close to Times Square and Rockefeller Plaza. Service was fantastic....only to be outdone by the delicious Wood-oven pizza. Definitely will return!"

  • "This place futures basic Italian dishes that well executed and innovative. For starters, we had the charred octopus--which was outstanding--and the burrata, which was also very good. The octopus itself was grilled to perfection and the sauce and relish that came with it enhanced the flavors. The burrata came with an excellent fig jam. We had the Gnudi and Orecchiette for the main course. The Gnudi was outstanding--not like anything I've had before; the Orechiette with pesto and chicken was very good as well, but it was a tad oily. For dessert, the panna cotta with strawberries was light, refreshing, and quite interesting."

  • "Although the food at this restaurant was delicious the hostess was not. The hostess told us that our table was paying their bill and they had yet to even order dessert. When i confronted her about it she was very rude and dismissive. with all of the restaurant choices in NYC there are few restaurants that have earned the reputation and luxury of turning off large groups on a saturday (or any other) night. When seated - our party of 7 was set up at a table for 6 with no explanation or apology. On the other hand - the food was fantastic. The pizza is divine, simple and divine. i have never ordered linguine with clam sauce in my life but i would go back tomorrow and every day after for another plate of it - if the hostess...well you know."

  • "They can't manage the reservations. That is no make sense to make a reservation of this restaurant in advance. Go Walk in. We made a reservation at 7:00. When we arrived at 6:30, they had not prepared our table yet. Despite some tables became available on our way of waiting time, they would not take a table for us. Finally, we waited for an hour, we could get a table around 7:35. I complained the owner's family guy about their poor reservation management, but they told me "Sorry, here is NY city." What is NY city? We are New Yorker not tourists. We know many restaurants are greater service and better foods. Due to redeem a gift card, we went to there in this time. However, we usually don't go to such a tourists place nearby Times Square."

  • "While the service and staff was great, food was mediocre at best. Had the pesto pasta with the "slow baked chicken". Felt like the chicken may have been baked for way too long (as in not thrown out when it had passed its shelf life". Had a moderate discomfort after eating it, so will not be returning back or recommending to any one."

  • "This place is an excellent restaurant to take a break from Rockefeller Center (a few blocks away) that offered a good wine list and outstanding dishes. I was looking for a place to sit down, enjoy a glass of wine, and have a nice lunch...Nino's 46 provided me all of that. The waiter was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about all items on the menu and wine list. We'll visit again on our next trip to Manhattan."

  • "If you need a reasonably priced restaurant with a something-for-everyone menu, this is a good place for an informal lunch. Pizza and salads are well-prepared, service is friendly and competent. It's crowded and noisy, but that's par for the neighborhood, and the crowd thins out by 2 o'clock."

  • "I can't say enough and can't believe its my 1st time trying Nino's on 46th. As a long time New Yorker and now out of towner I was lucky enough to listen to a recommendation when I thought I knew the best Italian Restaurant in the City. Nino's on 46th is not only the best food by a long shot but the owner and staff actually come out and show how passionate they are about their quality. The specials knocked me off my seat and the appetizers and dessert were amazing. I challenge someone to try this place and find something they don't like. I will only frequent Nino's on 46th every time I want Italian food in the City."

  • "Not the most exciting of venues and the construction outside didn't help (but this is NY and so you just cope.) The food was excellent, however. The gnudi was superb and the nutella bread pudding was heart-stoppingly decadent. An overall lovely experience that doesn't break the bank."

  • "Surprisingly good food and great service. Very limited wine list with some decent wines by the glass. Very casual - really a bar with food, but the food rivals most high-priced Italian restaurants. Very friendly and attentive service. Bar stools and banquettes are really uncomfortable - best to stick to chairs."

  • "Overall, our party of 6 had a very nice of evening before seeing a show. The pizzas and pastas were quite delicious. The pizzas were cooked to order and they were very accommodating to personalization of the dishes. Everything was fairly affordable and definitely worth a visit if you want a nice, tasty dinner."

  • "Food was surprisingly good. Atmosphere was a bit odd - so I expected the food to not be very tasty, but it was really a great buy and well prepared. Good seasonings, large portions, nicely plated. The atmosphere was a bit more downbeat, pub type feel - and some of the groups sitting near us were rather loud. Seats were pretty small and not terribly comfortable. We asked for a larger table and were told it was being held for a large party. The place was only half full and remained that way - and we could have sat at that empty larger table - so that was not very nice of the staff - but they had their marching orders. A few blocks from the theater district - and thus slightly cheaper than the Times Square prices."

  • "Perhaps we're spoiled in Montreal, but for all the reviews seen about Nino's, we were somewhat disappointed. The food was okay, but no more than that, according to the 3 diners in our party. The noise level was so high, that even shouting to our table-mates was barely possible. I suppose for Manhattan the price to quality ratio was okay, but again I guess we're spoiled in Montreal. The reservation was honoured on time. Service was excellent. Staff are well informed of the menu items. Probably a quieter crowd would have made a big difference to our overall enjoyment."

  • "Food was delicious. Service great. Suprisingly good quality for what seemed like a quick lunch spot. Ambience leaves a little to be desired and its confusing when you walk in if its take out or a nice sit down place. But once you are in it's well worth it and good value."

  • "Nino's 46 was terrific. Great menu with good variation of choices, from light to hearty. Caesar salad was very tasty, along with the personal pizza with summer squash and burrata cheese. My co-diner had shrimp parmesan, which was a huge portion and very good. Great neighborhood gem!"
