Diner Reviews
  • "Our server was very nice and entertaining in her roll as a ninja, however I would have liked if the main course was served at the same time, if my guest was not so insistent I would have sat there for a good five minuets watching my steak get cold, until her meal arrived, but from start to finish the food presentation was very nice and pleasing to the pallet, however the bill was a little much to swallow; but I guess having your very won Ninja could be pricey."

  • "Most of these types of places have average food at best. Not the case at Ninja. The wait staff does a great job getting into character and making it fun but the food is actually worth the price of admission. Highly recommended for something different and special occassions."

  • "This was a really nice find. It was recommended by one of my co-workers and I really liked it. The energy was great. The Ninjas were awesome:) Secret entrance, magic show, and more.... The food was okay and the portions aren't big but the restaurant was really nice."

  • "Had been to Ninja a few years back and had a wonderful experience, so I brought my 18 year old son back while we were in New York this week. What a disappointment! Our waiters did hardly anything but grunted a couple aye-ya's, and the food presentation was nothing like last time when everything was presented beautifully. This time they just sat the plate down at the table. Only one dish had an interesting presentation. Now, the table around the corner was having so much fun that I even questioned our waiter as to why nothing was happening with us. He said he had a surprise coming - a few minutes later the magician showed, which of course you're kind of obligated to pay for. Lastly, food quality had definitely gone down too. REAL BUMMER!"

  • "This restaurant would be a perfect addition to the Times Square dining options, except that it's downtown. It was very kitschy and relied too much on gimmicks to actually create an engaging experience. There was even a magic show at our table. (Ninjas aren't magic, nor do they do magic) Besides the atmosphere, our service was very weak. Things were spilled on our table on multiple occasions. The continual "hi-yah" each time the waiter left the table became quickly annoying. The food was large portions, but still expensive for what it was. The food did have a very good presentation (the dragon roll came with a dragon head that was lit to breath fire, and the rainbow roll came in a bowl of dry ice and water to create a misty fog around it."

  • "What a wonderful night! My friend was visiting from out of town, and since I'd been dying to go for nearly two years, we thought we'd give it a shot. We spent two hours there having a fabulous time between the phenomenal food and the great staff, and I honestly can't say I've had a better dining experience in a very long time. Yes, the atmosphere is a bit kitschy, but it's so much fun and besides, how can you disagree with a ninja?"

  • "Good time, friendly staff. The food was good. The soft drinks were expensive and no free refills. Our reservations were at 8:30, we weren't seated until 9."

  • "My wife and I celebrated our one year anniversary here and it was fantastic. The Ninjas were very stealthy like a ninja should be. The food was amazing and came out pretty quickly. They give you a lot of food so make sure you come hungry. The flavored sake was great and the sake falls was super cool. To cap off the night we were treated to a magic show by one of the wait staff. We had a great time and We will recommend Ninja to all our friends and family."

  • "My son loves martial arts and he loved the ninja clad staff. The children's meal that came covered in smoke was a cool effect. The Katana meal which consists of crab meat, fried risotto, and Angus steak with melted cheese was satisfying and something I would definitely get again."

  • "I brought my 7 year old nephew here and made his day. It is like eating in the land of Mortal Combat. The ninjas popping out of hidden nooks was thrilling, the magician was fun (and cute!) and his food came served on a glowing bed of fog. When you are 7 and a real life ninja give you a plate of glowing fog you've had the thrill of a lifetime! As an adult the place is fun if you are in the right mindset. The decor is well done and I could imagine this lending itself to a romantic and intimate dinner as well. The prices were ok, a meal for the four of us was $126 which isn't out of line. CAUTION: If you are elderly or have bad vision, take the safe passage to your seat but let the kids take the Passage Of Danger."

  • "I went for my 28th birthday. Everyone did a great job of creating a unique experience. The food and ambiance really stood out. Best of all, I thought it would be more expensive though my friends took the tab."

  • "Very entertaining place! Not only were we surrounded by energetic and attentive ninja's, but we also received a magic show at our table! They posed for pictures and even gave us a special and sweet treat for our anniversary! The prices were also very reasonable for the awesome food!"

  • "My two kids (7 and 10) loved Ninja so much we went back the next night. The service was excellent and the whole ninja thing was so much fun. Its entertainment which makes it worth the price. I'd recommend the lamb."

  • "OMG we have not had that much fun at a restaurant in a long time! It was exciting, lively, a little scary but tons of fun! The Ninja we had was so great, he really played a great part and was very attentive! We had an amazing time with the magician, he remembered all the kids names and included all of them in the fun! Food was outstanding and exciting, some of it was even on fire! We have already made another reservation for July 2nd! LOVED IT!!!!"

  • "Went for the fanfare, but seem to have been placed at a table where the entertainment had to be requested. Heard other tables being laughing and enjoying the ambience, while we were in a booth and the only thing our ninja did was say Osu pouring our water and attempting to scare us twice though the screen. Had to request a tour and magician at the end of dinner. Food was just ok."

  • "We brought our 10 yr old grandson hoping that he would be amazed by the experience. What a waste of time and money! The only thing on the kids menu was a very expensive hamburger. My DDH had the ribs, the sauce was awful. I had the chicken, which was not bad. I am sorry that we went."

  • "Great place to bring the kids for a fun dinner. Food was good and they were very generous portions. The kids (and I) loved their chicken fingers and fries and burgers. My sushi (sumo sushi) was good. I've seen a few complaints about the restaurant, but I think they were from people looking for a more quiet and romantic atmosphere. The restaurant was loud and boisterous, with kids' parties going on in all the other rooms. It was perfect for me and two 9 year-olds!"

  • "I never write reviews, but I had to for this. I took my Fiance and Son for their birthday dinner to Ninja NY. The overall look of the place is okay, nothing really that special. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Our waiter made sure to ask us if we had any food allergies before we placed our order, which I thought was nice to do. Our cocktail drinks were great and my son ordered a soda that came in a bottle and inside was a marble, fun for the kids! The appetizer we ordered was also great, sushi roll with mango and eel sauce. After that the food went downhill. Our entrees were bland and dry, we did not finish our meals because of that. The bill for 3 people was 211.00,not worth it! We ended up going somewhere else for desert."

  • "Excellent service , our waitress was fantastic even after I noticed her getting triple sat, she still maintained excellent service. The food however was terrible. My chicken was so dry I could not cut it with my knife. I could not send the food back because I was on a time constraint and had a show to attened. The food came out fairly quickly which is why I am shocked that it was so dry and rubbery."

  • "We took our 2 boys (ages 3 and 6) that are obsessed with Power Rangers, Ninja Turtles, etc. They LOVED it and are still talking about it 2 days later. The service was great and all of the Ninjas were so much fun. The food was good and we ordered one of the menu items that came with "shows" that the boys had a great time with. Highly recommend for a fun evening!"

  • "There is a single gimmick running through this place. All through your meal people will come to your table and try to scare you. Knives, water balloons, "magic show." Don't go expecting to have a deep conversation or a culinary revelation."

  • "This place was fantastic! The decor was amazing as it took us down to feudal Japan, literally on an elevator. "Ninjas" jump out and scare you periodically throughout the experience. The food was delicious. The presentation was beautiful. If you are not interested in an attentive wait staff, eat elsewhere. The staff made the visit worthwhile!"

  • "The ambiance was good. The food was OK and pricy. My kids enjoyed the fake knifes and the special sodas with the marble in the center. What I did not like much was a Ninja who doing magic at the table and asked for donations. The magic was entertaining."
