Very nice presentation and the entire ninja experience was non-stop from the moment we walked in. We brought our friend from out of state for the first time and it was fun with all the special effects and the ninja magic. It's dark. let uour eyes adjust before taking your first steps lol. Such an keep-you-on-your-toes environment. The magician had us laughing with his tricks. The only con was the steak we had -fat on the steak. We're more lean meat eaters. The Miso Salmon was out of this world!! A MUST HAVE!!!! Overall he loved it, we loved it. A wonderful experience! The more you get into it, the more they engage you. I took my friend there to celebrate her birthday and she absolutely loved it! The steak in the box was tasty. And the presentation for the chocolate cake dessert was awesome. We had to make reservations a week and a half in advance. Their food is mainly Sushi, with some steak options and salads. I'd have liked to see more Japanese food choices other than sushi. The key to this restaurant though (other than the waiters acting and dressed like ninjas) is that items on the menu with a ninja star next to them have a special surprise. When a dish like that comes out, it will have some kind of flare to it such as fire..some type of toy, or a interactive thing you have to do. It's pretty interesting and it's a lot of fun for everyone. Most of the dishes are participatory or events (set on fire, bar tricks, etc) and your servers are all ninjas who try and assassinate you, jump you from the walls, bring you lots of sake and there is even a magic ninja.
This was a super fun experience, just enough kitsch to be fun, without being overbearing or annoying. I would recommend this restaurant to dates, small groups and families with kids. The ambience is absolutely amazing, the ninjas are extremely realistic. The only flaw would be the prices. It's a bit expensive, but I assume its mostly because of the entertainment charge. They offer a free magician show, which will blow you're mind! This really is such a fun experience I don't want to spoil it but I recommend this restaurant with 100% confidence to anyone who's visiting New York. If you love a funny experience and like surprises then you should definitely go there. The food was both delicious and artful in presentation. The only thing I may be careful with is the scare at the very beginning of the experience. The moment we stepped off the elevator, we were greeted with a very loud "hiya" which scared me but not my boyfriend. We determined that if someone with a heart condition or a trained martial artist trained to attack was in that position, the outcome might not be a scare. But all in all its a very fun, energetic place. Ambiance was appropriate. The servers were funny, great with the service and stayed in character. The food at Ninja is delicious and the service is excellent. Even though it is always packed the design of the Ninja Village seating area makes it feel like you are at an exclusive, quiet restaurant. The wait staff is super fun and entertaining and I thought the food was fantastic. The ninja art dishes really made the experience. They really go out of their way to make birthdays special at NINJA, which I really appreciated. It was so much more than just singing happy birthday! If you're looking for a quiet dinner spot, then this probably isn't the place for you. But if you're willing to play along and engage with the ninjas, it's well worth the money. It is expensive, but you pay for the experience instead of the food. I also really enjoyed the magic show at the end of the meal. All of the children at the restaurant seemed to be having the time of their lives. I was disappointed because we were sat in the rock room as opposed to the village rooms, so I felt it took away from the experience was not what we expected. I kept hearing people screaming from the village rooms because the ninja's would pop into the room which made it exciting and unexpected fun. I even asked if I had to pay more or make reservation more in advance. The table next to us gad sat first so we were able to see everything before we experienced it like the ceasar salad and the magician, so it took away from the mystery and excitement. The decor, the ambiance, the presentation and the service all summed up to a great experience. And of course, the food was up to par with everything else. We ordered the steak-in-the-box, which was very juicy and tender. It came with three different kinds of sauces, and a few side dishes; definitely not your average steak! The desserts were tasty as well, and also flawless in their presentation. All in all, it was a great place to have a group outing.
