A word from Ninfa's on Navigation
The Original Ninfa's on Navigation Located on Navigation Boulevard just minutes from the heart of downtown Houston, the Original Ninfa's was all started with Mama Ninfa Laurenzo's creative TexMex recipes. These led to the introduction of fajitas & Mexican cuisine to North America which gained immediate success. If you're looking for a Houston Mexican restaurant, Ninfa's on Navigation is not only a local icon, having serviced politicians, celebrities & even visiting royalty, their Mexican food is unbeatable. Chef Alex Padilla uses only top quality ingredients, like Mama Ninfa herself did, & fresh Gulf of Mexico seafood like red snapper, jumbo shrimp & more. Voted Best Margaritas, you can enjoy Ninfaritas on the outdoor deck, dine on the best Mexican dishes & fajitas around and truly enjoy the great restaurant experience.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Overall, the food was fine however I do remember the tortillas and rice being way better years ago. The fajitas were really good. The flan was ok. This used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant and I think I will have to search out a new one."

  • "I brought a party of 6 for a birthday lunch. I had heard much about the "Original Ninfa's", that a Houstonian must experience. The food was very good, cooked well, and the service was timely and efficient. Cost/value was average. Atmosphere/ ambience was relaxed and friendly. I enjoyed the meal and will go back, but did not find it "Head and Shoulders" above other Mexican restaurants where I have dined."

  • "Read the reviews & this place was great. Hardly any wait! Food was excellent & out immediately. The waiter kept checking on us to see if we needed anything. All this & the place was packed! I would highly recommend!"

  • "Great food! Great service! Great atmosphere! A little loud but fun!"

  • "The red fish tacos are great. I normally do not care for fish but Ninfa's does red fish right."

  • "We went back the next night it was so good! A reason to travel to Houston!"

  • "Had the fajitas and shared with some friends. The food was delicious. And let's not forget about the margaritas! And apparently if you want the best home made tortillas ... This is where you go!"

  • "With a guest in from the Midwest, we made our way to Houston's best Mexican restaurant for an evening of margaritas and fajitas. Specifically, we steered him to the classic: Tacos ala Ninfa. And we had him mix it up, with one beef and one chicken. Add chips, salsa and some chili con queso and he had a proper welcome to Houston."

  • "Only problem was a few flies. They find their way in from waitstaff opening door to serve people on the patio."

  • "Great service, comfortable setting, recommend the Carne Asada and Al Pastor Tacos."

  • "I reserved a lunch table for four and I was a little late, but I called Ninfa's and I was re-asured that my table would be saved. I arrived later and I was seated next to the garden with a great view. Food, service and staff were excellent. I will always go there for the free shuttle to and from the game...Thanks Ninfa's."

  • "With the kids home from college, Ninfa's is always the first spot they want to head out to. On this occasion, everyone opted for something from the parilla: beef fajitas for 2, chicken tacos a la Ninfa and the Rio Grande [an individual mixed grill] and everyone left full and happy."

  • "Since relocating to the West Coast, we've found that a trip back home to Houston is required periodically to satisfy our Tex-Mex cravings. The restaurant has been (and remains), a beloved gem. Omar's service for our Saturday lunch was impeccable. We sincerely miss Tex-Mex cuisine. We have nothing in town (or throughout the San Francisco Bay Area) that approaches this culinary delight. So many of us former Houstonians would love to have you open a Ninfa's here!"

  • "The Tejas combo provided just the right mix of traditional TexMex [crispy beef taco and cheese enchilada] with Mama Ninfa's chicken fajitas to provide a very satisfying and filling meal. Two of us had wine [pinot grigio and pinot noir] that were good while the third went for the Mango Margarita. A delicious Saturday supper."

  • "This is the best Mexican food in town. Make a reservation. The wait to get on the waiting list was 20 people long at 6pm when we walked in. We were able to walk past everyone because of our reservation."

  • "Just what your looking for on a weekend adternoon Great margaritas, guacamole, salsa & chips. You don't need more but there is so much more. If your looking for great authentic Mexican food this is the place to go. You will not be disappointed."

  • "A true classic Houston restaurant. As good as it was when I began going there in the 70's!"
    Dined on 6/8/2014
  • "The mixed grill platters are one of the best ways to experience some classic Ninfa's preparations of meats. But oftentimes, you may be the only one at your table that wants that instead of enchiladas or tacos. A recent addition to the menu solves your problem: the Mixta Rio Grande. You get three grilled shrimp, chicken and beef fajitas [5-7 strips each] and pork served on a sizzling comal with grilled onions, rice, your choice of beans, guacamole, sour cream and the famous handmade flour tortillas. I'm already hungry thinking about how good it was."

  • "Last two vists have been for brunch. Great selection of coctails-sangrias, margaritas etc. Love the fajita burger and the tex-me standards are good as well "
    Dined on 5/18/2014
  • "All 3 of us went with seafood based entrees this evening after starting with a bowl of the chili con queso. We selected the grilled redfish with grilled veggies, the shrimp tacos and the seafood enchiladas. Each was excellent, especially the enchiladas which had just the right mix of sauce and cheese [not too much] with the mix of seafood. And the refried black beans were a great side substitute. Wash it all down with margaritas or red wine and Memorial Day weekend was successfully launched."

  • "With both kids home from college for the summer, we hit their favorite spot for an early Sunday brunch. Starting with a bowl of queso [because on this Sunday, they were not making their delicious Mexican cornbread], we proceeded to order 4 different entrees that included the breakfast tacos [2 large stuffed flour tortillas to each order], the shrimp diablo omelette, queso flameado and a chicken taco ala Ninfa. All was washed down by freshly made mimosas and margaritas. Pretty much a perfect way to start a Sunday."

  • "Despite being ignored by the hostess, even though we had a reservation and were 5 min early, then seated in a very busy high traffic area/walkway, we had great service, and excellent food. "

  • "Great food but service a little slow and not very concerned about our needs. "

  • "This is the original Ninfa's and the place is very good. Tortillas hand made at the entrance. Nice patio, good service, and original FAJITA'S. The rice and refrained beans are pedestrian. The fajitas were great with nice pico, tasty beef and fantastic tortillas."

  • "Since we live in the kingwood area we don't make it down town for lunch to often. When we do Ninfa's is our go to. Mothers Day was not a disappointment staff excellent nice well run. My 90 year old parents loved it they had a great time."
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "This experience nearly ruined our Mothers' Day. I can't fault our waitress, she was very nice and tried to be as attentive as possible-- the kitchen and runners were to blame. First, we ordered a side of goat cheese grits, which came with a different entree than we ordered, but our waitress said "No problem." We got JUST goat cheese! We sent it back, pointing to it on the menu, we got back the same goat cheese only BURNT. The kitchen doesn't know their own menu! Then, several of us got our entrees, and the other two, including my mother, had to wait another 10 minutes to get their food, and when my husband finally got his, it was cold and had to be sent back, and by then his eggs were ruined. I expected better and won't be coming back soon."

  • "I made a reservation for Mother's Day brunch and I would say that it didn't even matter than I did. They kept looking for a table for us and then seating others in front of us that didn't have a reservation. They seem to ignore the open table reservation system. Food and ambiance were good when we finally got our table. "
