Anniversary DinnerOur head server Katie was very cordial and very helpful with our appetizer and entree choices. The beet salad with goat cheese was light and tasty. My husband had the quail and was very pleased. For our entree we both ordered the mushroom encrusted venison which melts like butter in your mouth. We will definitely be going back again.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMNinety Acres = Five StarsThe only criticism is that we had to make reservations 6 weeks in advance for a Saturday night dinner for two. However, it was worth the wait and we have already made another reservation for two monts from now to try the Bring Me Food option. The view up to the restaurant is beautiful. The staff is very friendly. My husband forgot his reading glasses, they had a pair for him to use. We were unsure of which wine to choose and they recommended a few options. We went there for our anniversary and I am glad we did! My husband had the prime rib. He thought he'd get a small portion in a place like this. He was wrong. It was a good size portion and delicious. I had the Scallops and they were great. I recommend the pretzel sundae for desert!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMmain entree fiascoWhile the ambience was lovely and the food, that we were able to eat, was delicious, we had a problem with our main course that should have been dealt with differently. A friend and I ordered the same main entree, the wagyu steak. She ordered hers medium and I ordered mine medium rare. She received mine that was extremely rare and I received hers that was well done. Mine also had ends that were extremely well done. When we told the waitress, she gave us each a free desert. The manager didn't speak w/ us. While it was late and we needed to get home, we didn't want to argue the fact that our entree should have been taken off the bill. As I think back, it has left a question in mind 'do we really need to return in the future'? Don't think so.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMHIGHEST RECOMMENDATIONIn a class of its own, this restaurant has it all. Superb fare, excellent service and conducive environment. My wife and I enjoyed the best meal in our lives over a 2 1/2 hour period enjoying 6 individually prepared courses served by the head Chef David. We savored the delicate flavors of each course which blended with perfection.
The experience begins with an enjoyable drive up a winding road through a magnificent estate ending at a beautiful mansion converted into a high class restaurant. Make a reservation well in advance to achieve success. Don't miss this one.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMOpted for the fixed priceOpted for the fixed price 4 course menu - a good deal with the wine pairings. Every course was excellent, particularly the Barnegat scallops, the portions were appropriately sized and well -timed so you could get through the meal without feeling like you were over-eating. The staff was very attentive and very knowledgeable. Overall a great experience. Perfect for a special occasion.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMReally a great place to celebrateReally a great place to celebrate something special. A little expensive, but worth it.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMvery nice eveningThe service, facility, and ambience at 90 acres were all wonderful. The appetizers and the drinks were also superb. My girlfriend enjoyed her pizza very much (in my opinion, the crust was a bit soggy), but my wagyu sirloin, which should have been melting in my mouth, was chewy, to say the least. The rest of the night was so nice that it's almost excusable, but I was really looking forward to the steak, and although it was cooked to the right temperature, it had the mouth feel of shoe leather. We will definitely return and give some other menu selections their chance.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMTrue culinary experienceCertainly among the top five dining experiences I've ever had. The bring me food and wine tasting menu in the open air kitchen was amazing. The grounds are exceptional. A must see and experience restaurant.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had heard about 90 AcresWe had heard about 90 Acres for some time and wanted to finally enjoy a nice evening out there for drinks and dinner. My wife and I loved everything about it; the food was amazing, the wait staff was great, the bartenders knew their drinks (very creative drinks). Loved the entire atmosphere of 90 Acres. We booked our dinner two months ago and have already booked our next one to enjoy 90 Acres.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMExtrodinary Dining ExperienceFrom the second you arrive you know the dining experience is going to be special. The "Bring Me Food" is a must try culinary experience. The creations are unique and the ingredients fresh. They also easily accommodate dietary restrictions without limiting the experience.. The staff is knowledgeable and extremely friendly.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFavorite!Ninety Acres is by far our favorite restaurant. We opted for the BMF (Bring Me Food) menu. Very unique and special experience. If you're open to creative dishes, you'll enjoy this. Chef Felton delivered each course with a full description and everything was wonderful. The farm to table feature is obviously paying off as the food looks and tastes fresh. With the BMF menu, you are seated "in the kitchen" so you can observe the inner workings of this professional kitchen. However, our table wasn't ready so they made a spot for us in the private party room just off the kitchen. We weren't able to see the kitchen from that spot which was a disappointment but we got over it quickly. Ninety Acres is beautiful and very special.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Dining ExperienceWe were a party of 8 at Ninety Acres for the first time. WE ordered a variety of items from the menu and shared. Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious. The waite staff was knowledgable of the menu and able to answer any questions. Other than it being very noisy, it was a marvelous experience and we would definitely go back!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful eveningThe setting is idyllic and it helped that it was a beautiful spring day. Drinks outside (a fire pit took the chill out of the air) was relaxing and romantic. The menu was varied and interesting with inclusion of local foods and sustainable wines. The sommelier was extremely knowledgeable and chose a wine for us based on our preferences (typical resaturant menu wines were not on the menu) that was superb.
Can't wait for another special occasion to return.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect dining experience! From the drive to Natarar, the service, the staff, the quality of the food and presentation, wine menu, scenery to the overall atmosphere everything was excellent!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous meal from entreeFabulous meal from entree to dessert. Great choice of wines and a lovely establishment. Only issue - getting reservations - they're a victim of their own success.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMMac n Cheese LetdownEverything was above par for this pricey, yet delicious establishment. The only reason I could not give it 5 stars was their take on a side order of Mac n Cheese. I think someone forgot to add the cheese to the mac! It was bland and tasted like buttered noodles. So very disappointing, especially after tasting the venison and steak we had ordered.
All in all a great place, but for a restaraunt that steps outside the box with so many of its dishes, they really swung and missed with the mac n cheese!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat customer service fromGreat customer service from the hostess to those individuals busing the tables. Extensive wine list, very good food and a great atmosphere. This was a birthday dinner for my wife, who is a tough judge, and she loved the experience!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMDont believe the HYPE!With all the hype that this restaurant has gotten, I did not feel that it held up to it's expectations. The wine list was superb and the service was unsurpassed. The food, however, was bland and boring. I ordered the sea bass, and all I tasted was butter. I like flavor in my food, perhaps even salt would have helped. My husband ordered the sea scallops, which on the menu stated that it was to be served with ginger (yummy) but to our dismay-- there was only a small sliver on his plate. We were not impressed and left without ordering dessert as well--that never happens!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was Amazing!!! AMAZINGIt was Amazing!!! AMAZING views! AMAZING FOOD! I go all the time now!!! AMAZING SEVICE!!!!!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely SpectacularEverything about our expereince was excellent. The food, we chose the wine pairing with their market menu, was flawless. Their preparation of the seasonal ingredients was sublime. The wine pairings were thoughtful and elevated the meal. The service was friendly and effcient. The property is stunning. It is literally hidden away on the Natirar Estate. So if you think you are lost once you are on the property, have faith, the road will get you there. It is magnificent. Leave extra time to find your way.
Book well in advance. We booked our next reservation upon leaving!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food + service; loudDinner at Ninety Acres was nice; menu had some nice embellishments on each common themese. The Wagyu top sirloin had a nice flavor; the polenta with crispy pork appetizer was also something I haven't seen before.
The sommelier was helpful in findind a wine to split the difference between my steak and my wife's black bass.
Cocktails were quite good, and they had Pappy Van Winkle on the after dinner tipple list - not a common find in these parts.
The restaurant noise level was energetic; it was a Friday night reservation, so that's not entirely a surprise, but if you were looking for a quiet romantic dinner for two - this wasn't it.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOverallMy overall experience was outstanding, but I did feel a little overwhelmed by all the different waiters/servers/bartender/etc. that waited on our table. Having so many different people waiting on one table, at times, becomes confusing. They all did their job well, I guess I would prefer only one or two waiters.
It would also be a good idea to give your clients a hand written note card stating the name of the person or people who are sending complimentary drinks or desserts to the table. This avoids confusion on whether or not the client was informed as to who is paying for their teat, especially if the complimentary item was phoned in.
I will definitely be visiting again.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth waiting for a reservationThis is a must visit for anyone who lives in Northern NJ (or visits Northern NJ)who enjoys a good restaurant and is willing to pay the price. The food was great, the wine selection is good but they only have European wines and I think California wines. No wines from South America. Everyone in my group enjoyed their food tremendously. It can be pricey, but worth it. We were able to hear each other (not noisy); and their service was really great. We went on a Tueday night (group of 7) for a work dinner. If you are not familiar with the area it's easy to get lost. Make sure you investigate how to get there in advance. I'm definitely going back with my husband for a special occasion. Tough to get a reservation4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMHave yet to be disappointed.Have yet to be disappointed. Every aspect of the experience from the valet, to the hostess, to our server explaining the evenings menu was as you would have expected. It's worth the wait.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and reasonablyGreat food and reasonably priced considering its one of the top rated restaurants in NJ. The drive up to the restaurant is very pretty and the grounds are stunning. The service was good but I expect to be treated a little closer to royalty if this is supposed to be one of the best in Nj. This is the reason for the 4 star rating.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA fine birthday dinnerMy husband and I went with my parents for my mom's 60th birthday, and it was a fabulous night. Ninety Acres is a "special occasion" place for us, and it was truly special. Though we were put off initially by the seemingly overabundant wait staff, it was nice to be spoiled. The food was top notch - prepared to perfect textures throughout and finely balanced flavors. Loved the celeriac and leek soup, poached egg appetizer, mushroom-coated venison entree, and scallops and pork belly entree.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMHusband and I went for ourHusband and I went for our wedding anniversary and had a great experience-food, service and atmosphere. Food was fresh and
tasty. Really enjoyed the sweet and salty sundae for dessert! Definately will be going back.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had very high expectationsWe had very high expectations after hearing from several people about how great this restaurant is. While the location was beautiful, we weren't expecting a flat screen TV for ambiance and we thought the food would be a little better for the price we paid. The dessert was especially disappointing.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMI was lucky to get a reservationI was lucky to get a reservation after a cancellation and not having to wait the usual 3-4 weeks for an opening. The approach to Ninety Acres by car is really stunning. The restaurant itself is the old carriage-house of the King of Morocco's estate. The restaurant ambiance was nice, but not spectacular. There was a very nice outdoor seating area with large fire-pits where you can go for a drink and some light cuisine. The restaurant acoustics were loud and we were seated VERY close to the other tables (18 inches between tables) so I found listening to their conversations distracting. The wine list was extensive and pricey. The menu was varied, but (at 7:00pm) they were already out of the dish I wanted.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMI have recommended NatirarI have recommended Natirar to 6 people already.
I live in Myrtle Beach, SC and visit the NJ area often on business.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMClassy PlaceBeautiful private drive leading up to the restaurant, and it's a very secluded spot. Inside it's more social and just the right level of noise. Service was great, wine list is incredible. They have some unique appetizers, which we thought were amazing. Dinner was cooked well and delicious also. They have two fire pits out back, which are nice for sitting by with a drink before or after dinner. Wonderful experience, and we will definitely be going back.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMTo keep it simply -worth everyTo keep it simply -worth every penny - simply outstanding, and I have been to a few. Reco without any reservation. Start to finish, off the hook4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA Night To Remember with our FamilyOur family party of 6 enjoyed a fabulous evening celebrating my wife's birthday with our adult children. Everything about the evening was perfect: drinks before dinner, the table setting, the wait staff, the menus in leather portfolios, the wine list, the food, the taste and ambience of the food, the metropolitan crowd, the rejoicing of family fun at our table, and the rich blessing of the Lord with our time. Koudos to Michael Smythe and his staff who made the evening perfect. We even brought our "Red Plate" to add to the beautiful evening, making the birthday a "You are Special" dining occasion. This was our second time dining at Natirar, and we look forward to a return visit in the warmer weather so we can sit outside. Thank you all.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMJ. S.Our first visit was memorable. The service was attentive, though not overbearing and the food was fantastic with nice portions. We are looking forward to returning soon.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was just okay.My wife and I enjoyed our food but we weren't blown away like I expected. That being said, Ninty Acres is pricey.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMStill the best restaurantStill the best restaurant by far in NJ and maybe in the entire NY metro area.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMService was great. Katie wasService was great. Katie was assisting. I don't remember the waiter's name, but he was slightly less friendly than she was, and a bit less enthusiastic than waiters that we've had in the past.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWow! We dined at the "BringWow! We dined at the "Bring me food" option. This is a "must go" place for foodies. The executive chef served some of the dishes with expert explanation of the food source and its use. It is rare that a place have no negatives but this place achieves that honor.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe place is gorgeous, theThe place is gorgeous, the food is marvelous, the service was excellent. It is NOT a place to go fo a couple. The tables for 2 are just too close together. We were seated next to a couple, one of whom had a dreadful chalk on blackboard voice. We know her life history. Could not wait to leave. My head still hurts. Not the fault of Ninety Acres, just a note that we will only return with a group.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways Great - Best Wait StaffThis was probably our fifth time back and it our experience was just as great as always. We always love the menu selections, the availability of local fresh foods and wide range of choices. While the food is always great the service is just as great. Our waiter was diligent but never pushy yet we all commented on he was able to keep a great flow to our meal. We were never rush nor did we ever wait. Plus there are others who help bus/wait the table so our water was always filled and dishes were cleared. The sommelier was also very good helping select exactly what we wanted; and get this, she went for the price range that we noted, she never tried to push us to a different level. Now that's real service.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMSpectacular setting, beautifulSpectacular setting, beautiful venue, excellent food. Thus are the positives. The negatives: indifferent to unfriendly reception, average wait staff, and overwhelming and offensive music.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAlthough I was impressed thatAlthough I was impressed that the waiter knew in advance that I wanted a vegan meal and together we mapped out what seemed to be outstanding choices for the entree, it was disappointing when it arrived. The portion was only enough for a very small child. Vegans like to eat, just not meat or dairy. All of it was tasty, but I left unsatisfied. Excellent service and ambiance were notable.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMVery expensive, but the experienceVery expensive, but the experience is well worth it. Everything we ordered was exquisite.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Good With Some MissesNinety Acres has so much going for it....great location, very good service and interesting food choices. Because of the prices, we were expecting stuffiness, tablecloths and a more quiet atmosphere. We encountered none of these things and were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere fitted us just fine. The menu has a limited number of choices ....maybe eight or so, if I remember. And you should like seafood since it made up many of the selections. Service was very good. The misses centered around bringing my wife the wrong entree and not acknowledging her birthday, as I requested and they confirmed during our confirmation phone call. Mistakes happen but two in one night on a celebration dinner is a bit much. Still, it was very good.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe bread was the best. ItThe bread was the best. It was the freshest, moist with a crunchy shell. Also one of the best butternut squash soup ever!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWent there to celebrate aWent there to celebrate a Birthday. Made the reservation weeks in advance for a Saturday evening and could only get 6:30. NOTE: If you are planning on dining on a Friday or Saturday evening, book it way in advance.
This was our first time there and everything was Execellent!!!
We will definitely go back.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMRomanticThe food and its presentation was wonderful. The wait staff was very attentive and made the evening a positive experience.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is the second time toThis is the second time to ninety acres, both times for my wife' s birthdays. She loves the place. We have many delightful historic restaurants nearby with great food but Ninety Acres is new, trendy and upscale with great ambience and delicious food. We love it. We need to try sitting outdoors in warm weather.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were celebrating an anniversaryWe were celebrating an anniversary and could not have chosen a more beautiful spot. The evening was perfect, magical. The ambiance was fabulous and the waitstaff was excellent in picking up on the fact that we did not need them hovering, that we wanted to be left alone. They moved to and from our table effortlessly and did not ask too many questions interrupting our conversation. The food was outstanding, the atmosphere hip but understated. We will be back. The anniversary truffles were a very nice touch.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe dine at Ninety Acres 10We dine at Ninety Acres 10 times a year and ALWAYS love the experience. David (the chef) knows what he is doing. Top rated.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
