XIX is my fave Phila restaurant. I brought my aunt & uncle here for the 1st time Monday, their reaction was exactly what I wanted for them. Not only did they say it was one of the best dinners they ever had, the whole night was magical. We travel up 19 floors -the doors open, what greets you - the orange & gray sunset glowing thru the floor to ceiling windows of the cafe. To bar -cocktails by the fireplace, more views of city lights from cozy window seats.Very attractive dining room. The servers -professional but friendly. They want you to have fun here! Food - Beavertail oysters, champagne, crispy calamari, marlin, tuna & scallop sashimi, beef carpaccio, foie gras, red snapper, bison, Berkshire pork, crab cake, wines paired to each dish.

I went to XIX for the first time on friday night. The occassion was a get together with an old hs friend. THe service was wonderful and the food was great. True it was sort of pricey, but the experience is well worth it. I'd recommend this restaurant for special occassions with a special someone or to get out once in awhile for a nice dinner.

Enjoyed the food, wine, and service. We have been there several times, and it is consistently excellent. The food choices are somewhat limited but we always find something we like. The restaurant is very dark at night. It's nice to go there for lunch or in the summer when it is lighter. Very convenient to theaters. Tables are large and not too close together.

A friend and I had a fabulous brunch at XIX. They have four buffet stations (pastries, fruit, and cheeses; Asian dumplings, sushi, and stir fry; raw bar with oysters, shrimp, and salads; and dessert) plus you order a hot entree from the kitchen. We both had the crab cake benedict, which came out piping hot and delicious! Our only regret was that we didn't have enough time to linger; I'd like to go back and spend all morning grazing. The atmosphere was light and airy. I've seen other reviews that complain about the service -- since this was mostly buffet we didn't have a problem, although the food did take a while to come from the kitchen. Our server was pleasant and kept our coffee cups filled.

Very good food at reasonable prices. The dining room is spacious and the lighting is perfect. While there was a constant "buzz," the noise did not interfere with conversation. The wait-staff was not well trained and the dining room could be better managed. However, the overall dining experience is very good. I have eaten hear four times and will return with friends.

Food was really wonderful. Perogies were to die for...crabcake was very fried which was disappointing. Would highly recommend. Only minus was the service...attitude from the server and also he kept bringing up sparkling water without asking our permission and charged us for 5 bottles of water even though we counted less. Oh well..wasn't worth mentioning to the server but was a bit annoying.

The $19 luncheon special is an excellent value, including a salad, cheese and cold cut buffet for appetizers (no expensive itemsl ike shrimp but a good selection of very fresh salads such as ceasar, poato and asparagus, etc). Main courses were fine, a decent-sized properly cooked fish of the day (Cobia), and a generous tasty flatbread pizza margharita, The dessert buffet offerings were navied and well done. The ambience is almost spectacular in the cafe with its dome and city views and comfortable banguette seating. My only complaint is the price of a glass of wine. We drank a Crossings Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough NZ, and discovered that we were charged $14 for a decent pour. I know this wine; it retails for close to $14 for a bottle.

I would not recommend XIX to anyone. I was greatly disappointed by the entire experience. We frequent fine dining establishments and this was most certainly not one. It was the poorest service I had in memory. Our waiter did not introduce himself, I had to flag him down to order wine, the silverware was carelessly placed, my husband's dinner was handed to him across the table rather than placed in front of him, we were given soup spoons for dessert (even another server commented on that!) and we were asked if we wanted coffee AFTER our dessert plates were CLEARED. This is just a taste of the poor service we experienced, certainly not reflective of fine or even everyday dining.

    Dined on 9/19/2008
I understand with a prix fixe menu that there would be limitations, however, I never expected one of the entree choices to be 4 small home made potato pierogies- that's more like an appetizer. $35 for a cup of soup, 4 pierogies and dessert was no value. The quality was there - but I feel that portions and limited options for restaurant week's menu was severely lacking. Probably wouldn't venture there for a regular dinner either, the nouvelle cuisine was pretentious to the point of snobbery.

My friend and I dined at XIX during Philadelphia's restaurant week - we felt like princesses! We started with drinks and I highly recommend the Lychee Kiss cocktail. This breathtaking restaurant is the ultimate special occasion place. Everything on the menu is well executed, and the extensive wine offers something for every taste. Ask for a sample of the wines if you are stuck between pairings! The friendly wait staff will help you with any menu items as well. The low lit but well decorated main dining room is large but remains intimate because of the quiet noise level. I only got a glimpse of the private party rooms, but they looked gorgeous! If you want to wow someone on a birthday, anniversary or other event, book a table at XIX.

The ambiance and view was great in this restaurant. We were seated outside on a lovely evening during Restaurant Week and looking forward to our meal. The food was below average; although very fancy dishes, they didn't taste half good. The service was rushed, and it was as if they were so concerned about the turnover of the table that they wanted us to eat and leave (there wasn't a line of people waiting and a lot of the tables were empty). The place has a lot of potential to provide a dining experience to people but they throw the opportunity right off the window with their attitude. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

The restaurant is on the 19th floor of the Bellvue, I expected to walk off the elevator into the restaurant, but we actually had to take a little walk to get to it and had to ask several people to point us in the right direction. Once we got there, my entire dinner party was striken by the decor, right out of a movie! The hanging pearls over the oyster bar were beautifully unique. The service on all level was very good. We were celebrating a birthday, they handed us menus with "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" written inside, a very nice touch. :) FYI...get the Seafood Claypot!!

We picked this restaurant after a little bit of research and were greeted with an elegant evening out. The service and food was nothing short of spectacular and we were addressed by name by a very knowledgable waitstaff. They were attentive to our needs, yet were not bothersome. The only complaint we had was that the directions to the parking was a little off. We drove around the block a few times before we found it. The view was great and we enjoyed ourselves quite a bit.

The food was excellent, we enjoyed the steak and fish entrees and the perogie(who would have thought)special was just so delicous, that I chose not to share it with the others.
