NINE-TENVery niceWe had a gift certificate for two three-course meals here and were both very happy with the experience. Our server was knowledgeable and very nice, the portion sizes were perfect, and the food was delicious.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, value and serviceFor $200 less than the 4 of us bled into the coffers at Eddie V's, our meal at Nine-Ten was better executed, more thoughtful and far more satisfying. Easily the best fine dining value in La Jolla.
Service was as polished as ever. The kitchen always delivers -- a favorite on all of our frequent visits from AZ. As a kitchen professional and restaurant consultant, I enjoy the strong focus on produce-centric dishes but would like to see more luxurious proteins, especially among appetizers. Entrees were very good but not as memorable as previous visits. Desserts were tasty but felt lacking in texture with too much creamy/custardy focus -- we miss Jack's whimsy and odd combos. Having said that, the white chocolate panna cotta was perfect.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFun FeteI chose Nine Ten as an out of state guest, because I wanted a wonderful experience and setting for my daughter's college graduation dinner celebration.Nine Ten was wonderful- with a beautiful table, professional server, and incredible food. Our party of eight loved everything. The night is a incredible memory.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMspecial serviceWe had gone for my daughters graduation dinner. due to traffic we were two hours late but they cheerfully held a table for us. When we arrived we were greeted with "happy graduation" and given a card signed by all the staff. Amazing we also got a free glass of champagne.
the service was amazing, food was excellent and an evening we will always remember6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMalways a favoriteLove this place - biggest problem with the menu is what to choose - so many great options and it's all beautiful and wonderfully prepared. Servings are the right size and food is light and reasonably healthy - never feel stuffed - just very satisfied. Service is friendly and attentive. One of our favorites in La Jolla!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat foodWe came to 910 by accident and I was really surprised by the excellent food. If you like great food and excellent wines you should not miss this restaurant.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Anniversary DinnerWe usually eat here for breakfast which we love! But have to say dinner was even better. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. Food was excellent, especially the stone fruit salad and the steak. We will be back soon!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Sunday brunchAlways a terrific spot for Sunday brunch. With attentive service from Angel R., we'll be back!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMA 10 for 910Multiple times to this spot in La Jolla have not diminished the desire to go back again. Food and service are consistently great. Veggies and other items are locally grown. "Mercy of the Chef" option should be considered. Setting is in a 100 year old hotel overlooking the Pacific which is still one of the finest in LJ.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic Special Occasion DinnerWe went to Nine-Ten to celebrate our second anniversary and decided to splurge on the "Mercy of the Chef" tasting menu. It was unbelievably wonderful! Our favorite dishes were the fish dishes, a rock cod and halibut dish with amazing sauces. The wines were thoughtfully paired, the service was great, and we will definitely be back again for another special occasion!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMMost enjoyable meal on our trip! After reading about many restaurants in the La Jolla area, we decided to simplify our evening and eat at Nine-Ten, which was in the same building at our charming boutique hotel, The Grande Colonial. We had already had a wonderful breakfast there that morning. We chose the dinner option of the three course meal with wine pairings. We could not have been happier with the food and wine choices! The service was excellent and the timing between courses allowed for a relaxing meal. The food was fresh, flavorful and fun! I would highly recommend choosing Nine-Ten while visiting La Jolla.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMLa Jolla's Best BrunchIf this isn't the best brunch in La Jolla, it is a strong contender. We opted for the fixed price brunch (soup/salad, entree, dessert). The food was outstanding, focusing on seasonal and local. Standouts included asparagus soup, a puree of fresh, flavorful asparagus topped with a corn relish, signature Cobb salad enlivened with chives, and a silky hazelnut creme brulee. Beef short rib hash was delicious if overly generous, and lemon curd tart was a lesson in how to prepare lemon curd. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, and steered us to "winners." The decor is nothing special, faces the street rather than the ocean. I would definitely return to try lunch or dinner.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great and ourThe food was great and our waiter Terry did a fantastic job. Wednesday is half price bottles of wine so you can pick up a great bottle at a really decent price. Great little bar too.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMSavor every bite!We enjoyed our dinner so much. The wine pairing is an excellent value for this excellent place. Between the three of us we had 9 different plates to sample, and literally every bite was savored, from appetizer to dessert. Arguably THE best creative kitchen in La Jolla.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFine Dining in elegant surroundingsSet in a charming character hotel the food and service are excellent. Sauteed scallops were superb as was the medium rare breast of duck. A good selection of wines and nice adjacent bar.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOld World Class!Mother's Day brunch was stately, enjoyable, and tasty! Our waiter was sweet, solicitous, and funny! It was a relaxing and lovely time!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMmothers day brunchfood was very good and service was compitent but not over the top. seemed a little cold . . .5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA favoriteWe go to Nine Ten for Sunday brunch regularly. The service is attentive, and the food comes out quickly. The hardest thing about brunch is choosing which of the menu items I will have. My regular is their great huevos rancheros, but sometimes I am seduced by the Nine Ten omelet, or their brioche french toast. We also like the quieter atmosphere. Except for holidays, we can get in there without a wait; Don't tell anyone else how great this is - we might have to start making reservations for Sunday morning.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSo nice we went twiceGreat spot & everything was fresh fresh fresh. Had Tortellini w/rabbit, duck breast and one of the best panna cottas I've ever had. Peas were the order of the night - every dish (not dessert) had peas multiple ways, including pea tendrils. We enjoyed it so much & it was only 2 blocks from our hotel, we went back again Sat. nite.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFoodie Paradise!Excellent food. We went for lunch, and our entrees (salads) and sourdough bread were superb. I am a dessert aficionado, and loved the chocolate cake (gooey) with homemade caramel sauce, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream. I am looking forward to dinner at Nine-Ten, and have planned to go there for my birthday.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMIts been around for more thanIts been around for more than 10 years, and becoming less of a hot spot, but the food is still excellent - though perhaps the innovation in the cuisine is less.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMRecommended by a long-timeRecommended by a long-time La Jolla resident with impeccable taste. Thoroughly enjoyed our delicious entree. We will return and also recommend to others as a must.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service, super waitress,Great service, super waitress, had a nice date-night dinner there.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOnce again Nine-Ten was aOnce again Nine-Ten was a wonderful eating experience and a great place to celebrate an event.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMMy son, a chef in Seattle,My son, a chef in Seattle, recommended this restaurant. It is a gem and one I will return to every time I am in the San Diego area.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMScenic Easter DinnerWe had Easter dinner here with our son and his girlfirend. The restaurant was quiet and we were the only table out on tne balcony overlooking the sun setting over rhe ocean. The food was excellent. This is definietly a special occasion restaurant for it is pricely and the portions can be small, but the food was excellent3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMeverything was really niceeverything was really nice except the bread. Had a soft crust, not the great european crusts one would expect. It was fresh enough, just very unremarkable.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I thoroughly enjoyedMy wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Nine-Ten. The chef sometimes comes out at the end of the evening and has a chat at you table, she can ask how her menu choice was inspired. More bonus points.
Also great for Sunday brunch on the back patio.
